    Really digging your videos. No fluff. No advertising. Just solid info delivered rapidly. Im a beginner angler with only experience fishing trout in faster moving spring fed rivers with lots of shoals. So fishing lakes and slow moving water is an alien concept to me. The thrill of your first big fight with a monster large mouth is something you'll never forget. Especially if you're not even expecting it, like when I was once fooling around on a dirty little creek, expecting nothing more than pan fish, when a 5 pound bass slammed my lure. That adrenaline rush just can't be beat!

    Love your videos Nat! I’ve been catching bass by at least once or twice a day! My go-to’s have been the drop shot and Carolina rig. Plus I’ve also caught a 2-3lb bass twice in the same pond. Which has me concerned that I may be catching a nesting bass, guess if I catch him again I’ll feed him some night crawlers so he doesn’t go fully hungry.

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  5 месяцев назад +1

      It would depend on the size of the bass that are around and how heavy the cover is that you're fishing. I catch 12-18" smallmouth and largemouth on my medium-light and medium combos, but only in open water. If I'm fishing around heavy vegetation or fallen trees, I'll use a medium power with 20lb braid or medium-heavy with 30lb braid. I'm a big fan of the carbons in any power rating.

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  6 месяцев назад

      My guess is that the bait just needs a slight tuning. If the line tie is slanted just a bit left or right, it will cause the bait to run off to the side and sometimes up and down instead of just diving down. A slight adjustment is probably all that you need.

    Maybe when I catch my first largemouth I’ll understand, but I just can’t comprehend why you’d target a fish you can’t do anything with. (Seriously, not dogging)

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  3 месяца назад +3

      Sometimes the thrill of fishing is understanding the fish well enough to convince it to bite. There's also the thrill of battling a fish on gear that gives the fish a fighting chance...human vs. fish. Personally, I like fishing because I find the fish beautiful and fascinating, and I enjoy the mystery of a tug on the line, not knowing exactly what it is or what it will do next. Largemouth bass happen to be the subject of the majority of fishing tournaments (at least in the U.S.), so they get a lot of attention.

    I call total BS on the idea that fish can recognize lures. The studies were BS because you simply cannot read fish minds and they certainly aren't going to tell us anything. Fish are just fish and for all the study knows the bass that wouldn't bite again possibly ate other bait fish after being hooked and simply didn't want to eat again for awhile. There is no possible way for anyone to justify this claim.

      Fair enough. I believe the study looked at captive largemouth bass where they could present lures to the fish multiple times and they knew what and when the fish were eating. So they just had to observe the fish's behavior toward a lure, no mind-reading involved.
