    Your guide was a good refresher on what to do and was helpful.
    I did make one mistake though . . .
    I have a small box with two flash drives. One with an older version of the Windows installation media and the other containing all my favourite installation programs (apps) I use after a fresh install of Windows.
    I thought it best to first download the most up to date Windows 10 media.
    No prizes for guessing which flash drive I (accidentally) used for the updated Windows installation media. 🙁
    Oh well, I think I've recovered now BUT, there is no helping my own stupidity.
    Needless to say, the fash drives are back in their box sporting better labels! 🙂

      I'm just confused about one step
      You said something about activating windows
      Do I have to activate windows
      If I just downgraded?
      Or something like that

      You'll only need to activate Windows if it is not activated anymore. If you do a search for Windows activation, is it still activated?@@MrLuViiii

    If Rufus is giving me an error (We are unable to complete your request at this time) How do I move forward?

      Try a different USB drive, something might be wrong with yours. You can also try downloading the ISO file again, it might be corrupted.

    Problem. I have an older pc, when trying to usb boot, I received the screen informing me I have to use MBR. I redid the USB and gave another go. Bios sees both the drive where windows will be installed and the usb is showing as the first boot device. My options are usb FDD, usb HDD, usb Zip. Tried them all. The usb starts to flash, so it is being seen. I press any key when prompted, but it is as if it is not seeing my keying. It then gives me a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top left. So it doesn't want to boot into the install. UPDATE: Is it true Windows 10 and 11 can only boot from a flash drive which is 3.0. Because my drives are all 2.0. I will pick one up tomorrow and see if that is the issue. Any thoughts? Thank you.

      Hey there, I don't think it's true that you need a USB 3.0 flash drive. I think you should make a Bootable Flash Drive with Ventoy rather than Rufus and then boot from that, I have seen the issue you are describing before and that's how I came passed it. I used Ventoy in this video if you want to watch it: ruclips.net/video/fzPCJCR3kDA/видео.htmlsi=p8zoVG0b8Syv-AgI You basically just install Ventoy on the drive and then copy the ISO file onto the flash drive then you can boot from it.

    I got Drive 0 with 0MB. It gets overwhelming when you try to troubleshoot or do another tutorial for every problem encountered. The first problem was "No bootable disk/device" ...

    • @memstechtips
      @memstechtips  9 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble, installing Windows should be a straight forward process but unfortunately sometimes one can encounter a variety of issues, which makes it a quite unpleasant experience. If you're detecting the drive but it has 0mb there is obviously something wrong but I'm sorry I'm not too sure what it is, I haven't had that issue yet. 😢

      @@memstechtips I suspect, the hard disk might not working anymore. I will try the GPT in Rufus now since I encountered problem using the MBR awhile ago. I also tried the command prompt cleaning the disk and all. But just get another issue.

    • @memstechtips
      @memstechtips  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah, to me it also sounds like the hard disk might be faulty. Let me know if you manage to get Windows installed on another disk though or if you encounter more issues and I'll see if I can help you out!@@goal-gohl
