Just bought the SIG 551-2 SWAT. It's a beautiful and unique rifle. The quality and craftsmanship are outstanding and a major reason I wanted this gun. Everything you touch is quality, no rattles no tollerences, nothing. They are very rare (in Europe) and I was reluctant to get one. What I also like are the front/rear sights. You really don't need to fit a scope immediately and can shoot very well with the rock-solid front/rear sights. When shooting like this, the weight issues is less important (compared to other rifles). Your summary "the best AK ever made" says it all.

About sling, In the swiss military you add a small line to the hook on both sides.
The back cord goes to the upper site from the butt.
And the front one, you add to the same spot where the hook is in.
So when you wear your weapon in action, you can take hooks and you sling is enlagerd.

      Is this now standard?
I remember we had to mess around every WK with the new NGST sling mount style.
      Paracord here duct tape there...🤡
Do they know these days how to reload the rifle fast?
They did teach us to take out the magazine and clamp it under the GT on the chest. Then take out the new mag, after rock it in, grab the empty mag and put in your poch🤡🤡🤡

I agree the 551 is probably the most beautiful rifle even out of the entire series of 55X it’s got the app the right amount of everything…
That being said I shoot my 553-LB the most.
At the end of the day I’m glad to see someone else shooting their Swiss 55X not that there is a problem with just collecting them but it’s almost criminal to not get to experience one and let it just sit in the safe.

Love these rifles, got one from JDI in the black with green furniture with alloy lower. Nice video and rifle, thanks for sharing.

Really enjoyed your other video on this rifle, as well as this one. I own a SiG 556 with the Swiss stock and the Swiss 551 like you have. They’re both great rifles, and basically shoot like enhanced AKs. The SiG 556 has the added bonus of accepting my OSS muzzle device and takes AR mags, and I honestly enjoy shooting it just as much as the Swiss gun.

I agree John! I had a few earlier Sig 556 commandos with 10 inch barrels. We had bought them for a Police Department I had work for in the past. They were direct from Sig USA and we’re really built Up pretty hearty. I didn’t have any problems with those weapons whatsoever.

I’m going to put a tiny spec of electrical tape on each of the rear tritium vials. Way too bright and way too close to my eyeball.
Is it me, or does the Italian white grease it comes with smell just like TW25B? Weird that they only use it on 4 spots, while slathering the rest in Aeroshell. Probably going to go with Machine gunners lube to compliment the molybdenum disulfide.
As for the reasons why Sig doesn’t do any upgrades is because the Swiss army really hasn’t asked for it. The dog has to wag the tail, not the other way around. (The alloy lower being the exception.) so it was surprising to see them make 300 blackout and 6.5 creedmore variants.

the 300 blackout and the creedmore variants was requested by the AAD10 (the best swiss SF guys) for trials, to see if it will fit a niche for their missions
