I’ve always wanted to get an OLED iPad ever since I saw the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 from back in the day and after the announcement of the new iPad Pros, I immediately upgraded from my 2018 11inch iPad Pro to the M4 13inch iPad Pro. It looks amazing! Couldn’t be any happier!
I had the same experience as op and I got to say that besides the screen, if your battery is old, battery life will be so much more. Since my battery was old and now paired with the m4, it’s much more snappy and responsive. The camera finally being on the long side is such a big bonus. Speakers are much louder. And just knowing this iPad will work just as smoothly for 6+ years, Im set with this 13 inch iPad Pro till at least 2030
@@ralfremer5134It depends on what you are using your IPad Pro for and what you are willing to spend. You can always sell your 2018 IPad Pro and put it towards the new one. If you use your IPad Pro for illustrations and professional applications it’s worth it. For regular media entertainment it’s not going to be noticeable. Gaming wise it’s a monster in demanding games. However even the M1 IPad Pro blows away high end Android tablets still.
As an owner of the 11” M1 iPad Pro, I actually did try out the 11” M4 model. I have to say, I was impressed by the new hardware, especially the display and new pencil and keyboard. But like you said that’s just not enough for me. The M1 chip (even though it is 3.5 years old) is already more than enough for anything iPadOS is capable of. This thing handles everything I throw at it with ease. And the hardware is still spectacular too - the display is awesome even though it is an LCD and I love my Logitech Combo touch / Apple Pencil combo. So thanks Apple for saving me the cash, and for anyone who wants to buy this iPad, I strongly recommend looking at the 2022 and 2021 models which still look and feel incredibly new but can be found for killer deals refurbished and used.
I had an iPad Pro but the OLED display on this thing is out of this world, my m2 mb air is now a a glorified phone charger - Completely changed the way i consume content. If you have no mb and no iPad I can’t stress how good this device is with the Magic Keyboard
Honestly, I bought the 11 inch M4 256 GB cellular version, tried gaming on it with AC Mirage, watched a couple of movies and set it up as my daily travel computer, but it just could not replace my M1 Macbook Pro. It is a super impressive tablet but for the price point it is simply a luxury. After seeing the upcoming software update and the lack of an effort, and feeling how hot it became while gaming I decided to return it.
I ended up getting a new (open box) M2 iPad Pro 12.9 cellular and 512gb for under half the price of the same spec's M4 13". The Mini LED is and noticeably amazing compared to my older M1 11". The M2 is far more than I need so glad I paid way less for the M2 version. No regrets not going for the M4
11'' M4 owner. 1000 nits, Face ID, weight, landscape front camera, OLED and the pencil pro. A banger. My only dilemma is choosing a case to protect it but keeping the weight as low as possible.
@@GabrielCapo24If they are coming from a pre M series iPad Pro, then I can understand their excitement. But like you say, the M4 iPP adds relatively little to what we already had with the M1 and M2 iPad Pros. Add to that a big slap in the face for previous iPad Pro owners who would have to replace their expensive Magic Keyboard case and Apple Pencil 2 because the M4 models aren’t backwards compatible with these costly accessories.
I upgraded from the 2018 11” pro to the 13” pro and although the software is lacking I LOVE using this tablet so much! I am wanting to find a reason to use it all the time. So for me even though it was a ridiculously expensive purchase I am quite happy with it and will be using this for many years to come.
I got a a second hand 2TB iPad for a “good price”. I’ve used nearly every iPad year and size (except the Airs). I too wanted them to all be more “pro”, but at this point I’ve given up. What I am happy for is more games. Sure we are really far off from even what the Mac AAA game library can offer (steam for example) but I honestly think this is what this device is for as opposed to a laptop; light - gaming, writing, music/video editing etc. or look at it this way, if you gave a teenager this iPad and told them they needed to do everything on it… they could and would enjoy it without even thinking twice about a Mac/PC.
Love how it takes about 4 and a half minutes till he kind of starts talking about iPadOS TLDR: Files now supports formatting external drives, but still has no eject drive TLDR2: He basically talks all about what he wishes and thinks that Apple might squeeze in some QOL-Features like the Drive one to upsell people to nonetheless buy this piece of a RUclips-Player.
I agree with the os team probably being iOS devs, the iPad doesn’t need to be a full blown mac, but it should be a good fusion of iOS and MacOS at a limited level, it’s a complimentary device and it should excel well at that, period. But typing this on iPad Air from 2022 and I just can’t understand why an average guy would wanna spend money on a device that feels so much like an iPhone with larger screen unless for the fun of it of course. The OS needs real work done on it if they’re gonna appeal to anyone that’s not a student or an artist.
Please compare the RAM or memory management between the 8GB and 16GB of iPad Pro models in a detailed test between iPadOS 17 iPadOS 18 to determine if it is the same as before or if it is now better. In other words, does iPadOS 18 allow more RAM allocation for apps than iPadOS 17?
I love the 13” M4 iPad Pro. My 11” m1 is just kind of laying around now. I went digital with my work notation recently and I love the minimalism/lack of waste from it. Add that screen in and I love it.
I got the M4 pro 11. The last ipad I used was the ipad air 2. I choosed the pro because air doesnt have oled display and 120 hz. I will use it 6-7 seven years. Great tablet 👍🏻
I had the third gen iPad Air so I stepped up to the M2 10.9 Pad Air. But I will wait until they address some of the issues in Pad OS pro model needs before I look again.
An iPad can accomplish the vast majority of simple tasks like web, browsing, making notes doing reminders sending, and receiving emails paying your bills…. But if you want to use actual real hard-core software, it just doesn’t cut it. I use an iPad for most of my simple daily routines for many years but if you try to word process even programs like Microsoft Word or pages on the iPad don’t cut it compared to their desktop versions
@@s.c.1972 for most people the IOS version is good enough, they don’t the real hard - core software. That’s how Apple stay in business because of the 90% not the 10% like you. I’m sure if you were a business person you would do the same as Apple.
Totally agree, the M4 iPad Pro hardware is amazing, but at that price I need iPad OS to allow an iPad Pro to eject, repair, format and re-image external SSDs and memory cards, have complete freedom the sideload any apps I choose and not need to use the App Store, and be able to run virtual machines, with full access to the M series chips hypervisor etc. I will stick with my 12.9-inch iPad Pro for the time being, and money I had plan to spend on Apple products is now being used to buy a new Windows tablet computer.
Not having preview on Files app its a major turn off. I would love to use an ipad for everyday use, but still to limited. It doesnt have sense to have a M4 in the ipad. And in a couple of years an M6 in the new ipad? For what? Faster PDF? And you still cant multitask in an ipad?
This iPad hasn’t dimmed one singular time since I’ve started using it. This alone was worth the purchase. After YEARS of screens being hampered by heat dissipation, this was a huge win. I use it every single day. From Warzone gaming to tons of photo editing work in LR and PS. Amazing machine. Battery life is the only thing I miss. 11” iPad Pro user here.
So far it's been an overpriced replacement for my 8th gen iPad, but I love the larger screen and faster speeds, and plan on using this for many years to come, so I think in the end it will be worth the cost. I like that I can install MS Office on this and so I can use it somewhat for simple work tasks, and works for taking my iPad to meetings rather than disconnecting and dragging my laptop around.
I brought a 13 inch M4 iPad for 2 reasons: 1. Because I just wanted a cellular iPad. My 11 M2 was great but I really wanted a 5G connection & regretted not getting it in the first place. 2. Because if I’m buying something new (to me) I’d prefer to be able to cover it with apple care. Other smaller reason’s like the new pencil, & wanting a larger size to reduce drawling fatigue.
I got one of those charging stands for my desk and it’s dope. I like that I can set my battery to limit to 80% and keep it charged all day but not kill the battery longevity.
Awesome iPad video, BUT the ad for this charging stand is horrible - I own this charging stand for the 13" iPad Air and the magnets are too strong to even remove the iPad!!! I had to tape a piece of thick paper onto the stand to even remove the tablet by weakening it's grip. I have the swivel model and although using the pins to charge is great, this product fails because of these crazy magnets and also adjusting the stand is a nightmare because it is sooooo stiff!
It won't, ever. Apple wants you to buy both a Mac and iPad(and every other product). They will keep it this way so products don't overlap. Same reason as why they won't add touch inputs to the mac. Then people would ask for apple pencil support and suddenly the iPad is dead. I have an iPad M1 and i love it. I have a cheap lightroom mobile license for it and in this case for me it's better using it on iPad than o PC.
Once upon a time (2015-2018 or so?) Apple wanted people to buy iPads instead of MacBooks; then they found out that MacBooks gave them more revenue than the iPad, so what they did? 1. They made sure that the iPad can never cannabalise the market for MacBooks, and 2. The increased the price for the best iPad 2-3 folds so that anyway they get the same amount of money.
@@sabian1970Yeah, right. And go back to BSOD, glitches, drivers, registry, updates, viruses, malware, security and privacy issues, miserable battery life, miserable touch experience, no echo system, and poorly designed apps with terrible performance in a device that’s not good as a computer nor good as a touch tablet! Brilliant advice! You solved the dilemma.
I just sold my ipad pro 2020 and now have the M4 11”….it is insane! Best buy far, and a huge step up. It now eliminates my next purchase which was going to be a mac book pro. ….im sure you have checked other reviews from ipad haters, now converted, and also ipad supporters and their views.
Yeah, the big major annoyance for me is file management. I can access files from my NAS and DAS and external SSDs but doing any file, disk and data management I have to use my Mac Mini. I want to use my iPad Pro as my mobile everthing and it is OK for that but would sure like the file, disks and data management to be seamless between my Mac Mini and my iPad Pro. I am going to try to stick with my iPad Pro 2018 until no sooner than spring 2025. Hopefully I can hold my impulse to upgrade until spring 2026. I really don't need the upgrade. The only things, if I start finding I really could use the Pencil Pro features for drawing then maybe.
I have a ipad 9th that lags when I play games and draw. So I’ll get the M4 so that I can use it for at least 5 years. Let’s hope it won’t start lagging as well. I use ipad as ipad. No keyboard, no mouse, no thing. Just the Apple Pencil and the ipad.
I think Apple doesn’t have a problem with the regular iPads. People seem to like to use them for what they are. A tablet. It’s the iPad Pros that are a hard sell! If you want to get real work done, just get a MacBook. Apple is scared that if they make the iPad any more of a computer, it’s going to eat into the regular MacBook sales. They are probably wrestling with that decision as to what to do. I would say if you can have a two in one device(tablet and computer), do it and charge people for it. Make the base MacBook cheaper than the iPad Pro as it will only be a computer without tablet functionality. This strategy would keep them both relevant. Obviously the Macs and MacBook Pro will have their place as the more powerful variant.
The 13 pro is actually my first iPad ever, I’m a long time Mac user. While I do upgrade my iPhone every 2 years, I have been using my old reliable 2012 MacBook Pro, I’ve been holding off upgrading because I’ve been waiting Apple to make a MacBook with a touch screen as I felt it was the where the evolution if the laptop was heading. The iPad Pro is the closest I’ve seen so I finally took the plunge and switched!
I got an 11” M4, then decided to try the 13” M4. Returned the 11”, about to return the 13”. Absolutely beautiful machines, but not worth the money - I realized that iPadOS will not replace MacOS for me for productivity. Going to get an 11” iPad Air M2, and use the savings toward a MacBook. …honestly though, it will be hard to say goodbye to these amazing displays…
I purchased the iPad Pro m4 11’ to replace my iPad Mini 6 because i was disappointed with Apple’s iPad Mini 7 update therefore decided to get a different iPad which was going to be the iPad Air M2 until I saw how much better the OLED display was on the iPad Pro m4. You are correct that the price is expensive and that the m4 chip is an overkill for a tablet but I just could not resist after seeing how much better photos look on the OLED screen. This iPad is now going to be my photo and video tool instead of my old MacBook Pro.
To me personally… main reason you might want to choose for the M4 iPad Pro, it’s because it weighs less and the keyboard is a lot better. Also one nice thing you might want is if you like to work in a place/room where the sun often shines on your screen. To me, there is absolutely no reason to choose the M4 for its power… The M2 I own is already plenty powerful. While the new pencil seems nice, it didn’t really intrigue me enough. iPadOS 18 is mainly for the Apple Intelligence… but the M2 should be able to handle it as well (whenever it’s going to be available)
I’m so glad Apple announced the new iPads within the 30 days of WWDC. I did purchase the one terabyte 13 inch and after the WWDC I finally realized that I’m still stuck with an iPad. So when we all ask a question what is Apple going to do with iPad, I suppose after asking the question for the last five years, we are still stuck with the same question in anticipation of next year‘s question which will be. What is Apple going to do with the iPad. The only advantage that we have is the return window policy that Apple gives us so we’re not stuck asking the question what is Apple going to do with the iPad?
Thanks for the review. I have the 13”, the Pencil and the keyboard. Very pleased!! I upgraded from my 2015 iPad and boy what a nice jump it’s been. Also got the Nano texture too and very happy with it as well. All good here!
For me moving up to an M4 13” iPad Pro eliminated the need to get a MacBook Air, basically a grab and go laptop. I’m able to 1. Update my website, 2. Use google docs on the browser (app sucks) like I would normally do on a MacBook. 3. Open up and edit CAD files on the Autodesk app, which is solid. 4. Review and sign docs (pencil) and 5. Create proposals and invoices in Quickbooks, all with speed and efficiency. Oh, and it also does iPad things. For me, it was a great buy and I’m glad I pulled the trigger. I haven’t really used my 16” MBP for any of my day to day tasks, other than really creative things like After Effects and Photoshop. (iPad PS is garbage)
I listened to your original review, and decided that 2070CAD for the cell version + 150 for the pencil and + 400 for the keyboard was a bit much, and decided to get a used M1 12.'9 with keyboard and pencil for 1150. Am I really missing out by not getting the new 13' M4 iPad?
Watching this on my new M4 iPad. Went with the base model. It replaced my M1 base model. I loved that device. I got 385 dollars on trading that in on the new device. This is my most used device. Battery life is incredible. I will upgrade to a iPhone 16 Pro Max if the Samsung sensor is any good. I need an M4 Studio right now. For video editing my iMac Pro is getting long in tooth. I wish Apple made a 27 inch Pro level iMac with a M4 Max or Ultra in it. I use a 32 inch screen on a Windows workstation and find the screen is too big. I am always craning my neck to see the corners of the screen.
I upgraded my 11 inch iPad back about a month ago, but in my case I went from the 2018 model with 64gb of storage, to the M4 model with 256gb. I felt that was the best option, since my 2020 12.9 inch iPad Pro still works well, but it does have a lot more storage than my 11 inch model
you have 1.19 million subscribers. If we talked 10% of your audience into buying an iPad Pro 13 and then returning them in 7 days as protest against Apples lack of pro software support, maybe they would get the hint.
I upgraded from a 2015 9.7 in iPad Pro to a 13in M4 1Tb. No regrets at all, but this is a massive update from what I had. I love the OLED, battery has been good enough, the 120hz refresh is great, and I use this thing for 100% of my home computing. This is also my first experience with a Magic Keyboard and I’ve been loving that as well! Do I wish they did more with iOS18? Absolutely! Do I wish they had more pro apps, like Xcode, yes! But overall, I’m really happy with my new device. Great videos, thanks, Max!
I currently have iPad Pro 10.5” 2017 and planning on upgrade soon. Which one to buy, iPad Air M2 13” or iPad Pro M4 11”? Considering the price is similar for the 256gb storage (approx. $1000) and I still need to buy apple pencil as well. I am using it for media & note taking. For heavy use, I still have MBP M1 16 inch
I bought the new iPad Pro M4 just for the OLED screen, I’m all used to OLED technology, my OLED C3 my iPhone, my Nintendo Switch, I can’t see LCDs screens as good as before. And I came from the iPad Air 3rd Gen, so it’s a huge upgrade. I really don’t care the iPad OS, I only use my iPad for browsing and media, an now just a little bit of gaming, cuz the powerful M4. But I’m very satisfied to do the usual things I did with my previous iPad, but now with a stunning OLED screen.
One could argue that the most impressive features added to the new iPad Pro are actually from the accessories. I will say, getting a new M2 Pro on sale if you can, is the best option. I personally wouldn't consider the used market, because the prices just are too high. The M1 is just too good of a device for most people.
The iPad is not a MacBook. Max complains about wanting the iPad to act like a Mac. And he complains about the MacBook not having a touch screen. But the iPad and Mac are two different conceptualizations of a computer. The iPad is the simple computer for all of us. So obviously you are not in the target demographic for the iPad.
Oh that's just weird fan boyish dismissal. Arguments like that don't lead to innovation, they lead to taking 12 years or more to adopt basic functionality that competitors have been doing the whole time. It's an iPad "Pro" what does that word mean to you? What's with naming a device "Pro" when it's not as pro as it really needs to be? Apple is over promising.
Then who is the target demographic? It’s too expensive for just web surfing and media consumption, it doesn’t have enough applications for professional work, and software/arm compatibility isn’t good enough for the mainstream gaming audience. Who is it for, then? Diehard Procreate users? Wealthy GarageBand enthusiasts?
I wouldn't have minded a thinner iPad but it's not worth it for the price it's currently at, especially considering the M1 can still keep up with the M4. I would also have to buy a new pen (since I use mine for art) and keyboard and that's an even bigger "NOPE" from me. Sad cuz I really wanted one but hopefully in a year or 2 I'll find a good deal on it or apple might actually make some decent changes to iOS to entice me to change my mind. Here's hoping.
I thought I needed an M4 pro, after tons of research and comparison, realized I needed an Galaxy Tab S9+. To me, I just need an youtube and a reading machine with OLED. S9+ saved me $700 bucks in total, which is enough to get an ipad air on the side.
I have an m2 pro MBP and the 13in m4 iPad Pro. I’ve used my iPad Pro than my Mac. I don’t do photo, video, or any complex editing. I’m just a simple ELA teacher so lesson plans, grading, and presentations is all I really do outside of content consumption 😅. I just wish the battery had been improved
I am one who has decided to stick with my M1 iPad Pro. There just hasn't been enough upgrades IMHO to warrant the outlay of cash and until they get iPadOS to take advantage of the hardware I'm not going to upgrade. Well unless my current iPad dies or I break it but then I would seriously debate buying an M2 model vs. the M4 model or maybe just going to the larger iPad Air model.
I think the brand new Ipad pros are amazing and great overall, but they're only worth the money if you're upgrading from an old generation Ipad (like 2016 and below) or if you don't have an iPad at all but want the best that Apple can offer.
Been using iPads since iPad 2. Got a 13” M4 iPad Pro 1 tb + cellular. Replace a 12.9 M1 iPad Pro. Absolutely love it!!!!! Love the lighter/thinner design. Love the Magic Keyboard. Battery life is a bit better than M1. I’m 95% fine with iPadOS. Since getting my M4 iPad Pro, I turned off my 14” M1 MacBook Pro. Does everything I need. And if it doesn’t, I turn on my MacBook Pro … and then go back to using M4 iPad Pro.
He uses it the wrong way just because Apple doesn’t want their iPads to compete with their MacBooks, unfortunately, a lot of users would like the iPad to replace the MacBook. And that’s reasonable, you get something more modular and portable than a MacBook while still being able to do everything that a MacBook can do (if MacOS was ported to iPads). The only reason to not allow MacOS on iPads or improve iPadOS is for Apple to make more money sadly. I sometimes wish companies would pay more attention to what users want rather than their wallets..
Apple never ever hinted they want to bring MacOS to the iPad.. it's only thencontent creators ranring about it.. but because the display use about 4W power and generate heat, that make a huge difference, when it's generated next to the SoC (tablet), or far away from the SoC (laptop, where the display is opened up, and far away from the chip). That about 4W less heat what the iPad can use to get the same thermal profile like the Macbook is a huge difference in performance.. it's basically the none throttling vs always throttling performance diff..
I get it! I understand. Yes, Apple needs to do more with software in relation to the powerful hardware. I still say Apple won’t let the M4 iPad Pro languish in despair despite what they say publicly. I made a happy purchase with the M4 iPad Pro and it is fully spec’d out and future proofed. I use it for editing drone video which the M4 chip does very well. And, I also use it for Photoshop and Lightroom editing with photography taken with my Canon R5. I knew when I purchased the M4 iPad Pro I wouldn’t see the immediate advantages of the software taking advantage of the hardware. I think this is going to take time which I know you guys at MaxTech have to know this as well.
I learned to like the ipad, and I learned how to almost replace my laptop when traveling, and it made me realize what I really needed, at home I need ,a hopefully to be release soon, m4 Ultra studio, and when traveling the ipad 11 inch with the magic keyboard, the macbook pro is not needed anymore for me, but I will keep it stationary in my desktop until a new mac studio is released. Thanks for the video.
What I’ve come to care about most when deciding for an upgrade is how it handles extended 120fps at extreme graphics with 75% brightness; how does this compare to the iPhone 15 Pro Max 1TB as another top end gaming phone for comparison. Also, I’d definitely watch an extended video about MagSafe phone and ipad coolers to keep the device healthy and the performance strong.
I'm still rocking a 2018 iPad pro, but have to admit when Apple stops supporting it I'll probably splurge for an M4 just because I use my iPad way more more than any other device.
Honestly the only reason I bought the M4 11 in iPad was for the oled screen. LCD strains my eyes for some reason. I’ve really been enjoying it but it’s ridiculous that Apple is crippling the device with iPad OS. They should give us a way to dual boot. Maybe even for a one time fee if it’s about the money. Would not be open to a subscription.
I think it was a nice upgrade over the air 4. Much better display. I used air 4 mostly for writing notes and the M4 is just much better with the OLED, 120 Hz display and also the new pencil.
Yes, for now. But the cars have become throwaway devices like Apple's. Glam, over-engineered money pits. All dressed up, but no place to go. At least you can’t bend them with your bare hands! To think that the earlier BMWs like the 1600/2002 were small, nimble cars for people who enjoyed the act of driving, and Mercedes 240Ds were so durable they were famously used as taxis…what the hell happened? Sadly, just like people, the German cars gradually put on weight, and the German car companies got older and lost their former sense of purpose. Like Apple. Could the fate of the German auto industry be to dig its own grave, and then drive into it? BTW do you remember that Germany once led the camera industry, too? Look it up, its been a (long) while. They were eaten alive by the Japanese. Back in the USA we had Kodak, Xerox, GE, IBM…former leaders. Let’s not go into Boeing, flown right into the ground by the so-called “management.” Next: Adobe? Bet on this: the future will be different from the present.
We need more hotkeys in apps. We need proper drag / drop across the system and apps. We need WAY better stage manager with stuff like CMD+N for a new window of a certain app etc etc. There are some fruits that are SO low hanging, that it‘s just mind blowing that they’re not integrating those…
I waited until after WWDC to upgrade. I had a M1 12.9” and went for the M4 11”. I knew I wanted to downsize but I have some serious buyer’s remorse. I also have the iPad Mini 6 and the more I think it over, the M4 almost seems useless. It is nice. It’s fast. The screen is gorgeous. But for my job and work flow, I just can’t do more than I can on the mini. The Mini is a retro gaming beast with Delta and the Razer Kishi Ultra V2. I know there is someone out there this M4 iPad is for but I just cannot justify it with it’s limitations. Honestly, if they would just fix the file system i could do 95% of my work on it but it would still be clunky compared to just a Mac. I dream everyday of a device this size, with near MacOS power that can be my one device to merge the tablet and laptop but Apple refuses to give it to us. I have two days left to return it and I think I am just going to send it back and wait for the iPad Mini 7. I just want to use the M4 so bad but cannot find anything to do with it other than PUBG mobile. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I just did the Kuxiu stand review on my channel .. pretty neat solution .. for being the world’s first magnetic stand that charges via iPad’s Smart Connector 😊
I have a 2021 12.9" M1 iPad Pro (1TB) with Apple keyboard, and it does everything I need it to. Because of it, I don't use a laptop (but do run an M1 Max Mac Studio desktop). I've been an Apple guy since 1980, and I've always stayed pretty current with all my Apple gear, so I will likely upgrade my iPad at some point down the road. However, even the jump from M1 to M4 isn't yet compelling enough to do so. Probably get a few more years out of the M1, and hopefully, some continued refinement and new features in iPadOS along the way. Maybe when the M6 hits the streets? 😉
iPadOS is "gimped" but it's important to ensure it's feature set doesn't just mimic the Mac, it's a different class of computer. What features does it really need? On ports, the iPad shouldn't tun into an octopus, cables & hand-held devices don't mix well. Better to have the magic keyboard handle the port expansion.
I'll always love iPads but I just got a new MacBook Air 13 m3 and it is just so much better than a tablet for actual work. I have the 12.9 M2, the mini and the 10th. I still use my Samsung galaxy s7 tab as a daily driver. Hard to let go of the android thing. I love both systems.
With the high prices Apple charges these days, trying to keep up with three devices is tough. Apple has made it easier for me to ditch one device. My iPad rarely gets used. I just go to my MacBook. I have no plans to upgrade the iPad.
I am still rocking out with my M2 iPad... There was literally not a single reason worth paying that hefty price tag for.. even with trading in my M2.. the price was just way too steep. iPadOs def needs to be overhauled, but I dont know if I see that happening with them still investing in apps. I also think iPad lineup of devices is too crowded. they need to streamline their iPad lineup.
For most everything I do, iPadOS works. I know that’s not true here, but I think in the bigger picture I am not in the minority. My experience with the M4 11 and the add ons has been enjoyable. Beautiful screen, better FT camera placement and function keys. Snappy doesn’t do the performance justice. I think the comparison people make to the M3 MBA is nonsensical other than price. Totally different experiences and both are great choices depending on the use case.
I’m fully integrated in the Apple ecosystem but what I’ve noticed over the last 17 years which is nothing new is that they are fantastic marketers. There’s always those people that are always going to upgrade every year because they just want to say “I have the newest x product”. Then there are those that are tricked by the fantastic marketing all that to say they try to hold onto a premium price tag and even increase it at times for software rollouts but not hardware to support a lot of function’s. The flipside is that the IPad isn’t suppose to be comparable or have the functions as a MacBook. At that point they might as well discontinue MacBooks raise the price of the iPads to current MacBook pricing and call it a day.
Ive given up on iPad. Love the hardware and wish it could do mkrenbut never will. Will stick with my MacBook. I am intrigued about the new surface laptops and surface pro. Seems like a good 2 in 1
Once you use the Samaung Tab series OLED panels, looking at a non-OLED ipad is trash. Especially in the dark. Regular ipads look like 20 year old tech in the dark. I got the M4 11 just for the usable screen in the dark. I'm not sure why reviewers don't concentrate on this issue
Not surprised at all with this feedback. Aside from the screen (which even that is a stretch), still no reason to upgrade if you have an M1 iPad or newer. Way too expensive for the whole package just to run iPad OS in its current state.
I bought an 11” I am very happy with it but it is my first iPad. I use it as a media watcher around my house like I used to use my iPhone for as well as I’ve started tinkering with adobe fresco drawing things for my streaming channel. And it’s amazing for the trip I just took as a travel laptop, very convenient cause of its size for my carry one bag. Yes it’s limited but that’s what I have a PC for (I had a Mac mini but it’s on the shelf now for my gaming PC just does everything it can do and more) and it does enough to get me through the day or a small leisure trip tell I can get back to my desktop.
I was really torn between buying the new iPad Pro or the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 OLED. Ended up getting the Surface. I just couldn't justify buying another iPhone on steroids.

What are the biggest differences to your old iPad you've noticed besides the display? Also have th 2018 pro and thinking of upgrading...
Yep. OLED iPad with an updated keyboard is a treat for iPad lovers. 😎
I have a hairline crack. 😢
Same here and I want the new 13”
I would also recommend the iPad Air M1 for the exact same reasons you mentioned.
so you are one of the ones that are flooding the market with returned M4s! I hope to buy one of these someday soon at a big discount! Thank you all!
@@gosman949 No I didn’t return it I tried it at the apple store, sorry bud!
@@LivingByFire Yep. Sister has that tablet and it works great. She’ll be keeping it for many years.
After seeing the upcoming software update and the lack of an effort, and feeling how hot it became while gaming I decided to return it.
thank you for returning it so the rest of us can buy at a discount!
What about the Logitech combo touch keyboard case?
I purchased the 13 inch 1tb cellular version , No regrets , I already own a pc, ps5 and a m1 MacBook Air .

I upgraded from the 2018 11” pro to the 13” pro and although the software is lacking I LOVE using this tablet so much! I am wanting to find a reason to use it all the time. So for me even though it was a ridiculously expensive purchase I am quite happy with it and will be using this for many years to come.

"M4 iPad Long term review - I WAS WRONG"

From an Apple Hater... I love your videos
Love how it takes about 4 and a half minutes till he kind of starts talking about iPadOS
TLDR: Files now supports formatting external drives, but still has no eject drive
TLDR2: He basically talks all about what he wishes and thinks that Apple might squeeze in some QOL-Features like the Drive one to upsell people to nonetheless buy this piece of a RUclips-Player.
Why didn't you trade in the M1 11 inch?
I got the M4 pro 11. The last ipad I used was the ipad air 2. I choosed the pro because air doesnt have oled display and 120 hz. I will use it 6-7 seven years. Great tablet 👍🏻
No substantial iPadOS upgrade = no new iPad for me
I had the third gen iPad Air so I stepped up to the M2 10.9 Pad Air. But I will wait until they address some of the issues in Pad OS pro model needs before I look again.

Can you do an analysis on battery life? I find the battery life to be less than my M1. I'd be curious to see some real data on the M4 vs the M1 or M2.
What's the point of this new hardware when you're stuck with the same software limitations?
I hope we get an in depth comparison between the Surface Pro 11 OLED and the M4 iPad Pro.
Not having preview on Files app its a major turn off. I would love to use an ipad for everyday use, but still to limited. It doesnt have sense to have a M4 in the ipad. And in a couple of years an M6 in the new ipad? For what? Faster PDF? And you still cant multitask in an ipad?
The battery of M4 iPad is draining everyday even if I don’t use it. I am not the only one facing this issue and no reviewers reported it
Also insane frame drops
I brought a 13 inch M4 iPad for 2 reasons:
Not gonna spend more than an MacBook Air on an iPad Pro + keyboard just to run a phone OS. It needs an option to run full MacOS.
You do realise that all the iPad Apps are built specifically for iPad right? They are not phone apps.
The increased the price for the best iPad 2-3 folds so that anyway they get the same amount of money.
buy a surface pro with full os
@@sabian1970Yeah, right. My previous iPad was an iPad Air 4 - So this will be an amazing upgrade for me this upcoming Holiday 😎
I’d be happy enough if we could eject the Ssd like on MacOS..
This is bull. If iPad Pro 'eats into macbook sales' then they win, they make more money. They sell you a keyboard for $350!! The margins are obscene.
Going from an M1 iPad Pro to M4 model: The screen is just so much clearer during scrolling on the new tandem oled. Almost no ghosting at all.
Just bought an iPad Pro, M4 and it should be here very very soon
Finally someone said it that the price is injustable
Get ya money up then
For business use i think its totally fine cost wise.

I love every moment using the new ipad. It’s the best tablet ever. If you value the OLED screen, this is a very worthy upgrade.
I haven’t had an ipad since ipad gen6, i just picked up a ipad pro 13 i like it, it works great for work and don’t care what anyone thinks lol
I was interested to update my M1 iPad Pro to the M4... but the lack of iPadOS updates made my decision for me. Sticking with the M1
One could argue that the most impressive features added to the new iPad Pro are actually from the accessories. I will say, getting a new M2 Pro on sale if you can, is the best option. I personally wouldn't consider the used market, because the prices just are too high. The M1 is just too good of a device for most people.
i agree with you. ipados needs a lot of improvements
I agree, all these tech geeks and RUclipsrs want iPad to be a laptop replacement. If you need to device to do serious work, get a MacBook/PC.
@@morbly look up the definition of a tablet
Then who is the target demographic? It’s too expensive for just web surfing and media consumption, it doesn’t have enough applications for professional work, and software/arm compatibility isn’t good enough for the mainstream gaming audience. Small advice. Please get someone to proofread your slides before you post. Its M4 iPad pro not M3 at 1:14.
I’m still using my 64 GB ipad pro 2018, 😢 thanks for the video unlike most apple YT channel you are very honest in your video 👏🏼👏🏼
I did have a 4k display and going back to 1080p was very nice for me!
😂 you are using iPad wrong if you are using it like a laptop. Please no stands, no attached keyboards
for real.
I see iPad as a notebook and video player. Definitely not a laptop. BUT if they can turn it in a fully functional laptop also would be great isn’t it?
@@julienlecoq3539funny enough, on the PC side of the wall surface pro-like hybrid PC devices coexist together with laptops and both doing just fine.
My current iPad is an iPad Pro 10.5 inch from June 2017… I think I NEED an upgrade! 😢
You are right, I'm holding my m1 iPad, and waiting for m5 iPad, there's not much difference between these two, except performance.
I think it was a nice upgrade over the air 4. Much better display. I used air 4 mostly for writing notes and the M4 is just much better with the OLED, 120 Hz display and also the new pencil.
You can get from A to B in a regular hatchback car, but BMW and Mercedes still sell a lot of cars
Let’s not go into Boeing, flown right into the ground by the so-called “management.”
Next: Adobe?
Bet on this: the future will be different from the present.
BMW and Mercedes aren't all that great, the turn signals break immediately after leaving the lot.
Have they found a way to integrate the photo app with the files app, or is it still stupid?
I think it’s still stupid
@@petrostzekos8914 🤣
I'm on the iPad pro 2017 model which is perfectly fine but apple isn't making iPadOS18 for it. So in way it's time to update
Have the 11 inch replaced MacBook never going back can’t put it down always with me now love how light it is
We need more hotkeys in apps.
Watching this on my
iPad 11 pro😊
Bought an 11 and just bought a 13. Need both.
Seems like a good 2 in 1
does it stay cool, when using GoodNotes or other Apps?
The eject button, that is all I want
