Hey, this video is really old, but my dude, this saved me a few hundred dollars to have an electrician change out 4 lights that have been broken. It was SO EASY once I watched this. Thank you!
You are most welcome friend! I am glad this was useful for you
Assuming you should cut the breaker first??
Who else is watching this under a flickering led light?
Not me.....
thanks for the support my FRIEND :)
Yup. So annoying
One of my recessed lights has a dull buzz than I Need get rid of! So this is the first video I found to learn how to replace. 👍🏽
IM GLAD WE'RE NOT ALONE
I watched this video a couple of times and then purchased the light linked under the description. It was as simple as described in the video, and I very much appreciate that. I'm not the handiest of people when it comes to household tasks, but this really was easy and it looks fantastic. I thank you, sir, for a very helpful and accurate video. Well done!
hello CHARLES! Thank YOU so much for the comment. I love it when I hear that I was able to help in some small way :) Have a blessed day my FRIEND :)
@@ETPCYT at
And yet the going rate is $40 per light just for labor. If I was safe on a ladder I could do this
Thank you! So much for LED's lasting 20 years. I've been in my new construction house for 18 months and two are dead already! I have been dreading trying to replace them. With this I'm feeling confident I can easily do it.
Hey JUSTIN! 18 months that is crazy. I have had a couple bulbs go out but not the led panels yet. YOU go this my FRIEND :)
@@ETPCYT Thanks! I'll let you know how it goes.
Update: the replacement went smoothly!
New home and my led went out in 6 months.
Same I have 8 that went out at one time
First video that shows where and how to place those metal hangers. Thanks!!
You are most welcome
Thank you so much-I moved into my home about 18 months ago and a light like this just burnt out. I was so puzzled because I thought it was a regular can light and couldn’t figure out how to remove this type or replace it. You saved me an electrician visit. Much appreciated!
Hey Lisa! I really appreciate the donation :) That is very kind of YOU :) I am super happy this video was useful for YOU . Have a blessed new year :)
I know that I'm late to the "party", but I truly appreciate your energy, clarity, directness and generousity. Thank you very much for your time in making this video! 😘💞
Hello, DIONNE :) YOU are most welcome and I am very glad YOU found this useful.. Have a blessed NEW YEAR :)
@@ETPCYT Thank you and I wish you a very Blessed year as well, Sir!
:)
This video helped immensely! Most grateful to/for you. What a shame that all the material involved (rim, casing, cover, wiring & screw in fixture) gets discarded with every change. I really wish my electrician would’ve given me a choice before installing all of these in my living room. I have recessed LED lighting in my kitchen, with simple screw in/out bulbs, much like every bulb i’ve ever known before, this wasteful mechanism.
glad it helped my FRIEND :)
THANK YOU…THANK YOU…I have two of those lights off, no I’m h going to replace them myself !
Thanks for making it so simple. Saved me a couple of bucks to get an electrician to do the job.
YOU are welcome :)
I get so embarrassed to ask people... "How do I change my light bulb?"
So here I am on youtube on how to change a recessed light bulb lol. It's still VERY simple and expected it to be! I just dont want to damage fixtures, wall, electrical, etc. Recessed lighting is new to me.
Hey ANGEL, I am the same way.. Find it on YT :) If we don't know we don't know then when we do know we do :) YT is wonderful help learn :) Take care my FRIEND :)
I was so confused when I pulled out light from outside down as to why there was no traditional lightbulb or apparent place to screw one in (we've been without a front stoop light for 9 months lol!) so this video was super helpful.
:) Thanks for the comment MONIQUE :) Have a wonderful day :)
Thank you for this video. I thought it was so hard to do prior to this video. I called an electrician and he told me $35 each to change 16 of those lights in my house
wow I'm glad you found this video.. usually the most difficult part of a project is convincing yourself you can do it :)
Thank you, now I can do it myself. you made it easy for me to replace the light.
Hey ANIL :) YOU are most welcome my FRIEND :)
Thank you! I just moved out of my Dad's a month ago, into my own apartment, and today one of my lights went out😅. I had no idea how to work this kind.
Hi SABRINA, YOU are welcome! Enjoy your newfound independence ;)
Thanks for the video! I used to it replace my shower light.
YOU are welcome, my FRIEND :)
This confirmed that I want to change all the recessed lights in my house I just bought to regular lights lol. I was afraid to pull on them, it I’ll give it a try.
It's quite easy :) I think YOU will like them
@@ETPCYT after I saw recessed smart lights in another video, I’m convinced lol
:)
Thank you!!!! We have to disconnect them and put ceiling panels. Have to take these out. Was a bit uneasy and thinking i might zap myself. 👏👏👍👍
Hi SARAH, YOU are welcome :) Have fun with YOUR project :)
Thanks... easy peasy even for an old lady!

Excellent demo and explanation! Thank you!

Thank you so very much for your easy tutorial.
I got it done. 😀👏🏼👏🏼

Sir, you saved me a big shoe sized hole in my ceiling. Thank you

thanks for posting this, I have been trying to figure out htf to get this light down for weeks now LOL
Hey MEL, YOU are most welcome :) have a wonderful day :)
Thanks sir i appreciate it, greetings from Medellín
YOU are most welcome my FRIEND!! Hello from California :)
Thank you soo much, just bought a new home and had no idea how to take this out
YOU are welcome my FRIEND :)
Thank you so much!!! Heading for Home Depot now. 😊
YOU are welcome, LISA:) good luck
You explained that very well thank you !! 👍
YOU are most welcome , JOHN :)
Thank you. Gotta say I felt pretty stupid having to look up a video on how to change a light bulb.
Bah don't feel stupid.. we don't know things til we know right? :P Take care my FRIEND :)
You are NOT alone
Not as stupid as me saying "Do I have to pay an electrician to change a light bulb?"
You are not replacing a bulb, it's the entire fixture, I have several with less than 5000 hrs that have to be replaced, good luck finding one that looks exactly the same.
Thank you so much. Very Very Helpful Video.
YOU are welcome my FRIEND :)
Thanks man I was afraid of being shocked:)
YOU are most welcome, Sergio :)
Thank you for this video, 8 am just having trouble squeezing the clips on each side. Anyone else encountered this problem.
some are stiffer than others and can be a little tricky.. try to squeeze them farther away from the spring portion to get better leverage
Wow! Thanks! I thought it was going to be hard to do. Its actually Easy Peezy..lol
lol YOU are welcome.. I find most things seem difficult until we do them :)
Thank you so much for your help 🙏
happy to help my FRIEND :)
wow thank you I thought I had to just replace the bulb I am always afraid if i should twist or pull but now I know I dont just need a bulb I need some else thank you
Best of luck ANNETTE :)
Thank you because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to fix my lights
YOU are most welcome :)
You missed the part about warning your wife and kids to stay the heck away from the light switch. Otherwise your next video will be how to cash in life insurance.
lol yeah.. when in doubt turn off the breaker :)
I guess standing near the light switch is dangerous in some way but not sure how or why since he's working in the ceiling….but okay.
Thank you. Very simple
YOU are most welcome :)
I opened mine up and tons and tons of insulation (I think?) came down from inside it and got all over me and my eyes. Love my apartment
ack.. thats no fun...
I came here because I need to replace the recessed CAN fixture. I can’t believe someone needs a video on how to replace an existing LED topper. Wow.
lol... you don't know until you know right?
Hello. I have a general question about sylvania rt6 lights. I do have it in my kitchen and now is the time to replace it. So do I need to buy the whole system or is there any way just to change the bulb?
this particular item is one whole piece
Excellent video! Thank you!
YOU are most welcome, ROSALYN :)
Thanks this was really helpful :)
YOU are welcome, CARL :)
Nice , simple & easy
Thanks SHAHID :)
Great video. Exactly what I needed to learn. Thanks!
Glad to hear it KEN :) Have wonderful day FRIEND :)
Hi There. Thanks for this amazing video. What is the small light replacement called so I can go purchase it
just took it off way different than yours mine has a led bulb but taking off was similar but no clips Thank you so much
YOU are welcome :)
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
YOU are welcome, David :)
Nice video and it looks like the exact set up I have. One light in the ceiling is going out. I am (was?) a bit confused as it wasn’t clear that I would be switching out the entire fixture and not just the part you screw in. The replacements in your Amazon link indicated that the entire fixture needs to be replaced? Now I need to find an option to buy just one or a few fixtures as opposed to a dozen.
Yes, the LED one is the whole outer assembly... it doesn't have a light bulb, the LED is built in .. yeah amazon had quite a few that were multiples lol.. I guess normally when people switch over they do their whole house :)
@@ETPCYT Thank you so much for the reply.
@@MythicbellsPersians I found some links for single ones.. amzn.to/3k2Bgrd amzn.to/3E3HBdQ Glad to help :) Have a blessed day :)
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing
Hello Aaron! YOU are most welcome. Thank YOU for watching :)
Hi there, thanks for the video.I have the same problem and just want to ask is is possible to buy this bulb I “Home Depo”, or where did you buy it?Thanks in advance.
You can buy recessed bulbs.. or the led panel like this.. home depot or Amazon..
Does this fix the flickering light problem?
No flickering on this end
Is it safe to leave the two orange connectors disconnected indefinitely? We wanted to lose one of the recessed lights in our living room.
it is effectively breaking the connection. I would be comfortable with it like that
@@ETPCYT Yes it does break the connection and does not interfere with the other recessed lights. Thanks for your fast response!
Thanks for the video! Just curious when you pulled the cover off it had a black plastic piece on it and when you put it back on it was with a white plastic piece?
Hey WILL, yeah it is just a different brand I think basically the same item just had a different color of light too from yellow to white
Sadly, I got a new light to replace one that was out and once I pulled the old one down it looked nothing like what you showed. I was so excited to be able to do it myself, per your instructions, however, I couldn't. There were connections in there that needed an electrician to handle it. My home is only 2 yrs old, I bought it brand new.
The house this was done on is about 8 years old.. most can lights (older) have just the regular screw in bulb and this attachment or conversion to led is for that particular one.. I am sorry this wasn't helpful :(
Thank you. Very helpful
YOU got it BRO :)
Mine just fell off from a 2 year old house I don’t see any hooks like that it’s hanging by the wires? Do I need to use tape or something
hmm.. that doesn't sound right.. it should have some kind of spring type metal pieces holding them in place
I have as much home improvement proficiencies as a first-year medical student has in advocating the safety of mRNA gene editing… your vid just save me from hiring an electrician at $180/hr. I have 20 Feit 75W Smart WiFi RGBs that have to be installed, and your vid was straight to the point sans any BS, unlike 46 and his (failed) Border policies.
rofl, very interesting comment :) I am glad this video was useful :) GOD help us all :)
Stupid question but with these types of LED lights…do you need to turn off the power/electricity in order to unplug. Or are you safe to just change out?
The right answer is always turn off the power.. :) safety first!
Nice video bro thanks
thanks a ton, I appreciate it ;)
Thank you
YOU are most welcome:)
I was going to call electrician to change my light but after I saw the video, I changed it myself you saved me money and time
🤝🏽 right to the point!
:) thanks DREW!
Thank you for sharing

Bro you rock!
:) Thank so much PAPI :)
Thank you so much for this video!
YOU are most welcome, DIANA :)
This video was helpful. I have two that will need to be replaced. BTW- it appears your affiliate link is broken as I wasn't taken to a product page/description. Thanks!
Hey PEYTON, thanks for the heads up, I will try to fix my link :)
Thank you for posting your video!
THank YOU for watching MILTON :)
Ours is a Cathedral ceiling. What kind of ginormous ladder !! Probably very easy to replace however imagine climbing up that high. Call an electrician to install it and they’ll screw you !!
Those are tough.. ,my ceiling is nearly 18 feet.. I had to add garden stakes to the legs of my ladder to stand on.. (NEVER DO THIS I WAS YOUNG AND DUMB) it wasn't fun.. now I have an expandable ladder.. much easier :)
Thanks alot. Old lights are fire hazard.
YOU are most welcome, DERRICK :)
Hello, just one question. Do i need to turn the power off at the breaker to swap the light?
... probably just to be safe it's a good idea.. I had the light switch off but then you want to tape it so no one turns it on..
Might be a dumb question but can I get just the screw in portion of the bulb. Everywhere I look only has the whole set up for sale
I think they still have those available.. it just depends on the set up you have
Thank you so much
YOU are welcome KAYTON :):
Hello, could you please let me know how to replace an existing recessed light (like the one in your video) with one of those -3-panel garage ceiling LED light (which has a E26 screw-in end, like a light bulb)?
Hmm generally the wires can be connected as per the schematics
Thank you.
YOU are welcome ;)
Would it be ok to leave the socket on its own and put in a ceiling light to cover it? I have a part of my kitchen that I do not want light on but I don't want to stare at a hole in a wall either
That would probably be fine.. if you are putting in a ceiling light though, you would probably use the wires from the socket to power that light?
@@ETPCYT correct, I did it myself while I had my electrician on FaceTime, it worked out!
nicely done my Friend :)
Thank you!!!!
YOU are most welcome :)
Hey! So I recently turned my living room into a bedroom, and I don't need 10 lightbulbs on for a bedroom. So I unplugged 6 of them like you did in the video but kept them in their hole, is this fine?
Perfectly ok I would think :)
So you dont have to cut the power prior to working on it?
I just shut the light switch off.. but always test the wires with a voltameter to make sure they are not hot..
I have six burn and fail at same time, is it the switch or an electrical problem or can all fail at same time?
Hmm sounds like and electrical problem.. they actually burned? Or just went out?.. check a breaker perhaps
Thanks!
Thank YOU very much, LISA :)
Okay. But the plug from the light unit had been changed w/o explanation. It was originally orange but when you did the replacement it was white (white to white [new] | orange to orange [old])
The new light fixture was the white to white plugs
Can i replace a regular recess light with a led recess light just like this?
Yes, this is what it is made for.. have a blessed day
What do you do when it leaves a gap between the trim and the ceiling
perhaps the metal springs are too long and are hitting the sides of the canister and not allowing it to go up flush with the ceiling.. ?
Shot while mom was making dinner.
Lol oh to have my own studio
Ours are collecting condensation from the a/c vent near them. Any ideas how to stop this from happening?
I am not sure ... I have never heard of this issue before.. I would try to angle the vent away from the light if it has a directional adjuster
I got the philips hue one and do I have to turn off the circuit breaker for each light fixture ?
As it says on the specs
It's a good idea to turn off the circuit breaker and test the wires to make sure there is no current
So were is the bulb? I had these when i bought my home. One is not working so I don’t get how you made it work?
It is more like a led panel .. no bulb..
Is it necessary to shut off the electricity from the circuit breaker before we replace it?
the correct answer is yes.. I didn't .. it's basically like screwing in a light bulb.. I never change switch of the circuit breaker for that but I probably should :)
Dumb question. We just bought a new construction house with LED lights like this one in the ceiling. One of them is flickering like a strobe light. Does this mean it needs to be changed out? I have no idea ho much they cost and don't want to waste the money or time shopping for one only to find out it flashes too. Does it sound like wiring? Thanks for the video.
hmm new construction my guess would be perhaps the light. The wiring should be good. But it is odd to have one of these go out... I have never seen it.. I do have a few other LED bulbs and some can flicker when they are going out.. Not a dumb question :) Have a blessed day :)
Thank you 🙏🏻
YOU are most welcome :)
Thanks man 👍👍
YOU are most welcome, KELLER !
Do u need to cut power first?
It's always a good idea to cut the power when working with electricity
Good lookin out
Thanks, DAVID.. interesting phrase there.. not used in too many places :)
thank you teach me to do this
Happy to help :)
Do I need to switch off the breaker?
Hi Maria, it's always a good idea when working with electrical.. make sure it's turned off then test it with a voltmeter to double check
Hi, I have these recessed lights outside my porch with no switch. It turns on at night and off during the day. It doesn't have a bulb. How can I turn it off?
Hmm that is odd.. perhaps they have a remote somewhere.. also it sounds like they have a light sensing switch located somewhere 🤔
What is that part called you replaced? I went to lowes and home depot no one has them.
I believe it is just a recessed light LED panel... let me find it for you.. this seems to be the verbiage "Integrated LED Recessed Ceiling Light Trim at Selectable CCT, "
Sony need to turn off any breaker for this job?
Always turn off the breaker if you can.. it's the safest way
up inside, up inside, up inside. up inside. up inside. up inside. up insideeeee. up insideeeeeeeeeeeee.
lol
So you have to change the whole fixture as there is no light bulb?
Correct... the light part is one whole piece with the LED integrated into the outer housing :)
You have such a great heart.
