If you have a sick or injured bird in your possession I can not help this bird in any way it is strongly advised to contact a local vet or wildlife official before any decisions are made. It is very easy to do more harm than good when handling any wildlife.

This video is a little longer than I normally do. I'm curious to know how many of you found it too long. Should I keep doing long ones like this, or would you prefer these videos to be around 10 mins?
LesleytheBirdNerd < 5 minutes. 🤷🏻♂️
Loved every minute of it! Those who like shorter ones can make a longer one short...stop watching. But, the opposite is not the case. We who prefer the longer ones cannot make a short video long. Keep the longer ones, at least sometimes.
I really enjoy your videos too!
actually too short splendid vid thank you 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁✔☮
You have such a knack for story telling, I don't notice the time pass.
Wow you have a gift...they trust you. You are a bird whisperer .
Yeah she does birds are tougher than cats...smart though not trusting humans
Peanut: "I want to be your friend, so here's a partially digested clump of god-knows-what to prove it!"
Lol 😂🤗❤️
It's like they say about cats bringing dead mice home.
Your cinematography and narration are absolutely outstanding! You've come a long way, you should be proud of yourself!!
Thanks so much :)
I really wish I could tell our birds apart like you do. It boggles my mind that you know which blue jay is which and can tell them apart by their sounds and calls! May this channel never die. :)
:) aww how sweet. Thank you
I'm reviewing my pictures and videos to tell them apart. I can now tell four apart from the 8 I have
I am always amazed at what these birds think of you. They like you, trust you and want to be near you. You have something most people don't have.
I thank God everyday for our beautiful wildlife. He must love beautiful colors bcause the birds, butterflies, flowers and other things are very colorful and calming to look at.
It's amazing how my birds react when I wake up in the morning. They immediately come say hello
Amazing watching them eat from your hand and catching the peanuts you toss them. You truly are The Bird Lady!
I love your videos. I love Jays. My Grandmother did not..calling them trouble makers. I would agree with her, but in my dearest heart I adored them, I just couldn't in front of my Grandmother. I adore their screeching antics. I used to live in a small town, for 27 years I had learned how to garden and turned my little yard into a sanctuary. I had a family of scrub jays there. I never named them or hand fed them as you have. I just adored them. Watched them. They would have a fit if I cleaned up to much in my tiny yard...all walled in and cozy. I learned from reading about birds that you need to leave an area alone, wild if you can, and not to clean up every small stick of grass or yard debris. I even cleaned my hair brush out for the birds after reading about birds using it for nesting. I would see my hair in their nests as I was trimming a tree etc. The jays would shriek when I would find one of their acorn caches. My goodness the noise. I never took the acorns away, I would leave them out for them. Where I live now only has 1 big tree and not much in the way of bushes, but I have been working on that. Sorry for the length of this. I got carried away about the jays again. Thank you so much for sharing. You have given me ideas. Your videos are like watching National Geographic. I would love for them to be longer. Extremely well done. Thank you again.
Thanks so much. I enjoyed reading about your love for the blue jays. :) they are fun jays
I think they are misunderstood.. They're very intelligent
wonderful wonderful wonderful - thank you.
It was so neat to see them catch peanuts...especially in slow motion 😊 such a beautiful and interesting video! Smiled the whole way through. Thank you for this!
These videos are almost like reading a diary. It looks like it is beautiful up there in Autumn.
I know I'm late to the party here, but I loved every minute of this video. I especially loved the slow motion segments - you can really see interesting details with that.
I enjoyed this longer version so much! ... It was so informative and I really love the relationship you have developed with all your different bird friends! ... You can keep making longer videos for all of us who really enjoy them! ... Darla in Minnesota
Also, I am sharing it on my FB page for all my friends to enjoy!
@@oknad49 thanks so much.
@@LesleytheBirdNerd ... It's my pleasure to share such high quality content!
I just came across this video by accident. I am just amazed with the beauty and love you have for these birds.
I came upon this by accident and now I'm hooked, I loved it and could watch all day!!! Can you tell me the difference between a blue Jay and a scrub Jay? I live in central Florida.
I love the pellet gift at the end! You really have a way of making friends with these guys
Yes!! Another installment of the Jay journals! ❤️
You are very blessed to live where you do and get to experience these beautiful birds, I love jays! awesome videos keep up the great work
I really loved this video. Our whole family loves Blue and Sweet Girl! Yes, we always know when they are on the video from their funny sounds. So cute! 💕Thank you for another wonderful video!🙂
I love your kind sweet way with these beautiful birds. Thank you
It is strange and unreal to some people but the more time you spend with birds and get to know a few the more you realize even in the same species that they each sound a little different. I've been told by so many people who aren't into birding that to them the birds all look alike and sound alike, that they don't understand how the birds don't confuse their mates. So when I tell them they each have slightly different markings and sound differently I end up getting a crazy look, as if I have no life and they think that I'm spending too much time birding. This has been one of the most relaxing hobbies I have, it has taught me patience and helped my blood pressure issues greatly. Hopefully everyone is having happy birding times this Spring of 2023!
The best things in life are free. Too bad more people don’t know that! Take care..
I wish people would take themself lightly so they can sore like a bird. I like watching them because they sing and they take a mate for life.❤
Gosh I am still amazed at the knowledge and relationships you have with so many varieties of birds and how you can recognize individuals! I love your channel and your vlogs!
Words cannot describe how jealous I am of catch the peanut; luckiest birds in the world right here. 💚
Never thought I would love seeing Blue Jays. They may not be my favorite, I love birds of pray more, but they are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your wonderful blue friends.
Sweet Girl is so adorable. In slo-mo their wings look kinda like a swimming motion. I've never seen that before or a gray Jay either! Thank you Leslie. 😇😇😇❤️😊
Yep! every bird has it's own unique voice! Just like us :)
OMG - that was hysterical when the grey jay made friends by regurgitating in your hand. That is so cool that they make those pellets.
Linda Smith Kind of like the line from Wayne's World: " If you blow chunks and she comes back, shes yours. But if you spew and she bolts, it was never meant to be." It's meant to be then! ☺
I loved every minute. You definitely have a new bird friend!
That is completely awesome when you tossed the peanuts to the Blue Jays and they caught them in their beaks like tossing a ball or treat to a dog. That just cool!!!!
I have two steller jays at my house. I don’t particularly like birds as pets but wild birds are amazing.
they are all so beautiful! it's so nice to watch your videos. being stuck in the city, i sometimes forget how clean and lovely the world outside is.
Another wonderful treat for me. love gray jay, all the rest and the footage of the moose! Thank you , blessings!
I love your site, blue Jay's have just the most beautiful blue and I just adore all birds. Thank you so much for your great passion to this fantastic peaceful relaxing hobby.
The gray jays we have in the Santa Fe forest are so bold. They will land on your hand, your shoulder or your head if you have food for them! Happy you made a new friend!
what a gift these creatures are to us
I liked the length, meeting peanut, and the alarm calls over the hawk.
Being in the avian field as i have for nearly 30yrs now. And having worked "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws. I have too say you have a gift my dear friend. These Corvids trust you implicitly and i know all too well that takes time and patience to gain it. Gray Jays will naturally be tamer around people because their dubbed "Camp Robbers" for a reason. Anytime you go camping in the north woods and start cooking up beans or bacon they LOVE the grease afterwards. I live on Cape Cod, MA so we don't get any Gray Jays here. But we have some big Blue's for sure and they always relish the peanuts i put out for them. I often tell folks when i am asked to lecture on birds that if want to attract Jays on a steady basis whole peanuts is the way too go. They relish it over sunflower seeds any day. The Gray and Blue encounter was interesting too watch. When i visited my brother out in Oregon he gets both Blue's and Steller's Jay's. And since the two have been known to hybridize they seem to tolerate each other better then the interaction i saw between the Gray and Blue in your video. However, when i visit my folks down in Florida the Florida Scrub Jays not the Western variant as they are two different birds but the Scrub's don't tolerate the Blue's very well. And the Blue's are much smaller down South then they are up North. But that can apply to many different bird families as for example the Southern Bald Eagles are much smaller then their Northern counterparts. Keep up the great videos you obviously have a gift and they trust you.
Loved this! Not too long! So wonderful day by day, seeing the changes in temperatures, moose, the visits of so many birds. Enchanting! Didn’t know grey jays are camp robbers. That’s how I know them. I love them too.
It’s always fun and relaxing watching them eat and finding out who’s in charge of pack.
NEVER TO LONG, CAUGHT MYSELF SMILING RIGHT THRU THIS.
LOVE YOU, UR BIRDS UR COUNTRY SIDE, SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WATCH, LIFTS MY SPIRITS. C OF AUSTRALIA 💜
Thank you Lesley ! I can watch and listen to you all day long !❤🦜
Peanut is my favorite. Thank you so much for the videos it takes me back to when I was a kid watching wildlife!
What an awesome story! That Grey Jay is really pretty. How cool that you've made a new friend. Thanks for sharing this and for bringing a little more light into my life, Lesley!
You are so kind and I'm very happy that these little videos help lighten your day. Thanks so much for dropping by. Have a great night and day tomorrow :)
@@LesleytheBirdNerd I really do look forward to your videos. Have a great night and day tomorrow as well.
I love watching your videos. Those birds all trust you so much! It's nice to see you feeding them.
Great Video and really not to long. Regards from Germany
Flapping Jay at the beginning is a baby. I love ALL their calls, music in nature.
You are a miraculous photographer, speaker, thinker, doer! Glad you're happy. I can't get the smile off my face after watching your shows! (No exaggeration)
I love the person who is telling this about birds.
It is amazing that they come to you're hand to feed.Nice.🐦
I grew up in Ak high country. We had tons of grey jays, and many were tame. You wanna see something funny, watch a campy try to fly off with an entire pancake! "Lift! I need lift!" They are such goofballs! They will steal your pb and j off your lap if your not watching it closely. I miss having them around all the time. They have always been my favorites. Happy birding.
Definitely the long one is great. That sense of change in nature, the birds and the narrative is something that requires a bit more than shorter videos. Love it.
These videos always make my day better. Thank you from this Canadian Cowgirl in Kenora, Ontario. Even if I have no horses now, birds have always filled that void. Fell in love with birds back in 1990s carving and rescued many for exciting memories I cherish. Love Peanut your Gray Jay.
I love your interaction with the Moose, as a hunter (former) I had great interaction with the birds. The things we experience in the woods are what keeps us connected to nature. Thanks again for sharing.
Your videos make this world a better place. Thank you for sharing your love of birds. I feel like I'm really out there in the woods with you and your friends - you know them by name!
You live in the Garden of Eden compared to Los Angeles. Loved this video and peanut!
Thank you for sharing your birding videos. I always look forward to them!
Your hand feeding is wonderful. Love your channel. Thanks Dan
Lesley, you never disappoint! It’s because of you that I’ve taken a special interest to get to know the Blue Jays in our area and have started feeding a pair that come every day. With a little time I hope to get as good as you at attracting them. I don’t know how you get your footage, it’s all so amazing. Please don’t stop and thank you for the inspiration.
So beautiful blue birds.
Your videos bring me such peace along with increasing my knowledge about birds. Thank you for making my world more available to me.
I remember camping just west of Calgary about 25 years ago and seeing a whiskey jack/grey jay/Canada jay pluck hair from the head of a friend who was asleep in a sleeping bag.
I so enjoy your videos about your little bird friends. Thank you for sharing. 😊
thank you for making the world a better place. Great videos!
I don’t believe my eyes. I’m so in awe the relationship you have. They catch your peanuts!!!!! Dear god help me.
Peanut is some cutie.....I love all your videos...longer the better. I have a pair of Flickers that come for peanuts along with my Blue Jays.......for a long time they were afraid of the Blue Jays but today I noticed a change and they were not intimidated anymore and wanted there share of the nuts.....you are some lucky lady to see 3 moose.....where I live only deer and bear, but have seen them in NH, thanks so much love your stuff
I watch your videos when I’m feeling stressed. Thank you for your hard work Leslie 💕
Loved this video! Didnt think it was too long. Just right.
I also love birds. I keep on trying to get one to land on me but only a mockingbird has. But even the mockingbird only stood on my hand for about a second because when it was flying toward me, I had jumped, so the mockingbird caught the feed midair.
The blue jays are awesome athletes they catch the nuts mid air great camera work
I'm in love with the Canada Jay now. I had one fly up to me when I was at Crystal Mountain in Washington. It was so cool to see up close and just to watch them fly around and look for food. I have been trying to learn as much as I can about them since
Lesley, I’m hooked. So enjoyable. Again, thanks
Thanks for letting us into your world!
I get all wrapped up in stupid politics and get frustrated that's when I turn to Lesleythebirdnerd and that brings a calming to my soul. (My heart) ! I love birds also !
I love your videos and would love them to be longer!
He coughed one up in your hand. Sweet in its own way.💜
..🦊...great stem and mesh power’,....🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Congratulations nice video very interesting to observe the behavior of the jays I have three free and happy flying in my woods go crazy for peanuts and nuts, send away the greenbacks to be the first to eat, I wish you a good Sunday! like !!
Beautiful! I have a Red Vent Bulbul that catches blueberries I toss to him on my lanai in Hawaii. Love it.
When I was cross-country skiing in the backcountry in Yellowstone I had a Grey Jay fly town and eat out of my hand much like you do. I found it an experience I won't ever forget. I had seen them flying down at Winter Park ski area while people were eating their lunch outside whenever they held their hands up to offer them something, they got their lunch too. My favorite maple leaves were on a small tree by the highway outside of Ely MN, just beautiful. When I think of people going up to see the changing of the Aspen in CO just going up in the mountains to see yellow trees.
Loved this. A sweet narrative and wonderful photography, I forgot about the clock.
You truly are blessed. I'd trade a month of my busy city life with yours any day
Wow!!! This video was amazing. I loved all of it. Seems feathered friends can love & trust humans too. I see & hear our bird friends everywhere I go & even while indoors but I never realized you could get to know them personally. What a beautiful gift you've been given.
