      Orwell is often quoted by people who he would've despised. He was disillusioned with totalitarianism regardless of which ideally is behind it. He famously claimed himself to be a democratic socialist. Russia nowadays has no real ideology, unless opportunistic kleptocracy is considered an ideology.
      I appreciate the whole irony of "ha, look at the democratic decline of the west" while reading a propaganda script in a country without free media or free elections. The west is in such decline, that oligarchs send their ill gained fortunes and kids there. Totally makes sense.

    Gazprom stock collapsed 70% since the invasion. Russian interest rates 21% and will rise again this month. Male life expectancy in Russia is 63 years. There is a population collapse, Russian women have very few babies. Average earnings in Russia are $500 a month. Sanctions work. The Ruble is volatile, Russians increasingly prefer Dollars, Euros and Crypto - none of which can be taxed. The Russian administration has not been so weak and vulnerable since 1990. They can't help Syria because the chain of command is ponderously slow, we saw that in Kursk. We see it now in Damascus. They do not know how to respond quickly to anything. The West may try to unleash a global conflict with the epicenter in Eurasia in the medium term. Russia is close to achieving the goals of the SVO, the strategic initiative in all areas belongs to the Russian military. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are on the verge of collapse, said Naryshkin. He added that the Zelensky regime has completely lost legitimacy and negotiability - S.E. Naryshkin.
      Other statements by the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service S.E. Naryshkin:
      The West plans to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian, and then force the Balts, Eastern Europeans, and eventually the Germans to fight;
      Attempts to destabilize the situation in Russia are unsuccessful, the Russians understand that the price of confrontation with the West is the freedom and sovereignty of the country;
      According to the SVR, the post-Soviet space remains a priority area of attack by American and British intelligence services;
      The US is losing the initiative on all fronts, from the Middle East to Asia and Africa, and in the post-Soviet space they are even failing;
      The West is quite ready to take extreme measures to maintain its dominance;
      Further escalation will not lead to Russia's exhaustion, as Washington and London think, but will bring the strategic defeat of the West itself closer.

    "If the people don't want to fight for their country..." lol... they did fight for their country and took over it. Assad regime was a small circule of people who ruled the contry with iron fist for decades. Time has changed and Syrian people said "enough". Syrians very well know what Russians did in Aleppo. They, for sure, will not forget that.

      It depends on who do you mean. There is unfortunately not such item like "Syrians" at least at the moment there isn't. What we see is a bunch of groups joining forces for a while in order to get rid of a dictator. They succeeded. They have no common denominator, no common goal and very different ideologies. And weapons. A lot of it. It would be wonderful if they all realized they are all Syrians in the very first place. But it seems not very probably to me.

Watching video of the Ukranian Army fight in Abrahms and Bradleys you can see the USArmy influence in how they are deployed in combat against the Russians. Russia is likely to continue in its national-narcissism. I pray for goodness and blessings to come to both Ukraine and Russia…. BUT the ‘goodness’ I pray for Ukraine is to have peace, healing, freedom from criminal aggression, independence, and to simply be left alone, while the ‘goodness’ I hope for Russia has more to do with freedom from the demons of its own history. Russia needs redemption from its internal drive to dominate, to bully, to threaten, and to always be the big scary bear who thinks that it has the right to be the boss over its smaller neighbors.

    Talking heads all talking of the glory of Russia and trying to seem like they have a deep understanding and grasp of events.
    Syria is an unmitigated disaster , they have lost their med airbase and port and foothold in the middle east
    They have destroyed their economy by going to war and losing their biggest export market (by far) for oil and gas
    They have lost well over 200K dead and 4x that number injured
    Russia is presently weak and even if the war ended tomorrow in Ukraine it will take them well over a decade to recover.
    Simonyan is a moron, nearly every time I hear her speak she says something stupid or ignorant.

    Is there a country on Earth that does not blame all of its self-inflicted problems on "the Americans"? I have not found one yet, and I've been around the world.

    It is obvious that these people sense that things are going badly for Russia. Amusing to watch them grasping at straws trying to find something positive to say. It was completely comical to hear her say that "Western style democracy has died.". With the recent election in the USA, it is obvious that Western style democracy is stronger than it has been in a long time.

      Obviously he believed his own election.
