The main argument that pro abortion people have is that the fetus is a clump of cells therefore it isn't murdering as much as it is extricating a malicious tumor. But in the woman's story she said she recognized the fetus as a potential individual in the future and even knowing that she had an abortion. To me she is a murderer without a hint of a doubt.

From all the times I've debated this topic, it's clear that both general beliefs could be explained the exact same way, from their own perspective. It's all about life and all about choice. The difference is who that's for.
It's about morals. Choice happens when you had sex, when you didn't/couldn't decide that, it doesn't fall on the innocent baby to bear the consequences, it falls to the rapist. If you can't raise the child put them up for adoption.

"Is abortion murder" is a question of morality and as always morality depends on your enviroment growing up, culture, friends, financial status & other things. Argueing over morality is almost usless as both sides will present good points. Best soltuion leave abortion as a option for Women, but make sure they are educated on what abortion is.
Only problem is the males role in this, as if a women wants an abortion and gets one but the man doesnt, she should still be allowed to get one as its her responsibility. She has to endure 9 months of carrying the baby, changing dietry habits and in countires like USA there isnt much maternity leave & support for new mothers. But if a women wants to keep it but the man doesnt, the man will still have to pay child support, this is unfair as the man suffers in both situations and in my opinion is a way better question that "Is abortion murder"

If the woman wants to keep it, but the man doesn't, the man should be allowed to choose whether he wants to pay child support or not, it is totally unfair. A child is life changing for both parents, just because she carried the child for a 8 months doesn't mean he is entitled to raise a child for 18 years.
And also, If I was pregnant and not able to get abortion legally, I would be desperate enough to find illegal methods that could possibly harm me to remove this child from my body. Which is why women should be allowed the choice to abort.
i think its also tricky because some women are just simply terrified of pregnancy or they are not physically healthy enough, in such case i would say its 100% a womans choice. In any other case id say it needs to be a healthy discussion, where each opinion will weigh the same

Supporting your child is an obligation of both parents. If a man nor a woman, doesn't want to support their child, practice strict birth control practices, get snipped, wear condoms, take the pill, get a hysterectomy. I’m so confused on why this is even discussed as a topic, why would you have a say on what other people do with their lives? You would literally only make it illegal to protect your beliefs, which would most likely cause more harm than good. What good comes from making abortion illegal? I’m genuinely curious, cause it almost sounds like a gamble to me. Either you have to have the kid and the kid turns into an upstanding citizen or doesn’t. Versus you don’t have to have the kid, and have the option to decide whether or not that it’s the right time, right environment, etc.

Well it's been proven that abortions don't decrease with making it illegal, it only makes them unsafe. So you're taking away women's bodily autonomy *and* their right to a safe basic medical procedure.
First of all, its no ones right to kill another human being. now that thats been said, explain to me how abortion is morally a positive thing? I agree that there are 2 circumstances where abortion should always be universally legal, i.e. sexual assault and Incest. But if 2 people have consensual relations, its their responsibility to ensure they tske the necessary precautions
becasue discussions of life-or-death subjects like these are important for a better world/society. I see both sides but would lean more towards pro-life. for me, I don't want to make abortion illegal, i understand that there are cases where if the child were born, it would live a bad life, and of course instances of unconsenting sex. i just want people to make decisions that are well and thoroughly thought out (ethically and morally). The thing I hate is that the vast majority of pro-choice argue in terms of "well technically it's not alive until Xmonths, Xweeks, Xdays, Xhours, Xminutes, Xseconds, Xmilliseconds" when in reality it's about the potential of life not 'when/whether it's alive'. everyone knows that after 9months it will be a living thing, so that argument is just so stupid.

Someone can be choosing the wrong path in life, and it just takes 1 person to mention something they didn't even take into consideration to change their mind/path and save them from taking that wrong path. Furthermore, you will have mothers that want to abort their child while the father wants to keep it (in which a father has every right to try and prevent their childs death), but with "my body, my choice" it completely disregards their opinions. The point is, one persons choice can ruin anothers life, and possibly multiple (and of course the potential of a life). In this case, it's not just "well i (mother) went through all this physical and emotional pain. that means you shouldn't be affected by what happened".

If they somehow end up becoming the next Hitler, then shit, it is what it is. But there's also the possibility that they end up being someone solving climate change or something that can save the earth. Are the chances of the first 2 scenarios high? probably not, who knows? the point is, you can't predict what's going to happen. For me, I think the opportunity to life is probably the most valuable thing ever, and everyone should have the right to it

The “morality” doesn’t matter because it’s a nitpicky, convoluted subject that is based on personal judgement that ignores women’s self-autonomy. If men could get pregnant, im sure this wouldn’t even be a discussion. As OP stated, most anti-abortionists are anti-abortion because of their personal (selfish) views which (in most cases) are usually influenced by religious factors and old traditional values. They offer no alternate paths, and despite advocating for abortion to be illegal, refuse to provide concrete supportive systems to suffering mothers who would have to care for the child. The anti-abortion position ends at “birth the baby and good luck.” As I’m sure most are aware, the foster care system is rife with abuse and trafficking, so that option is equally as terrible.
It’s not always that black and white, and life literally doesn’t work that way. People carelessly have sex. It happens. A mother who is financially unstable, an addict, a teen who accidentally got pregnant, a woman who can die during birth, or simply a woman who is not ready for childbirth (which is mentally and physically taxing, as it is a PERMANENT commitment and her parenting determines how that child grows).
The good thing that comes from making abortions illegal is that abortions are illegal.

The only question they should have made is whether the fetus should be considered a life or not. Everything else is irrelevant since both sides are just disagreeing with this premise. If it is a life, everything one side says is true, if it is not a life, everything the other side says is true.

I think there’s a certain point when abortion shouldn’t be allowed, like once the baby is formed. I also think it isn’t a black and white line, there’s multiple factors that affect it.
where would that point be put? if there’s any certain point wouldn’t one forming human in the womb be considered person, although only being seconds to hours older than another forming baby? conception makes the most sense for me because that is where the formation actually begins, but I’d love to hear your thoughts
@@blueso5351 I think what he means is there are areas trying to promote having abortions legit weeks before due. Baby moving around in the womb etc. It really is a grey area thing and not black and white. If someone wants a baby they have to really think hard about having that baby. Changing their minds 7-8 months down the line is just irresponsible.

it was taboo for a long time, we have since learned a lot about reproduction and the potentiality for a conscious experience. no-one should have to become a parent because of a mistake, I'd argue it is much more cruel to all parties than terminating a non-living collection of genetic material.
