Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I now have my thrust reverse setup with pilot fatigue and it is GREAT. Thankfully this jet actually has a much lower landing speed than other EDF jets. So the trust reverse isn’t needed as much unless you are landing downhill. I’d recommend everyone fly with the lighter packs and practice stalling it at altitude to get a better feel for just how slow it can fly. It really is a great little airplane.
The habu handles that crash 💥 landing like a champ. That thrust reverse is awesome! Someone needs to convince Horizon and lots of other companies to put it in by default!
Using the Avian ESC Programming box or with the transmitter menu, a braking force of 7 instead of 0 will bring the motor to a stop much quicker so reverse rotation can be applied sooner. This is well known by motorglider pilots that want to reduce prop windmilling drag for higher speeds in a vertical dive or for increased gliding performance. I program a force of 7 for my prop models and my EDF models.
Quite interesting pocket flyer. Let’s see, if this bird is available in Europe before winter. For me (over 60) my most concern is visibility, otherwise it is the perfect field -flyer for any terrain close-by. Also most people will have the 3S lipos between 1300mAh and 2200mAh available.
I didnt watch there radio setup, so I was a little confused as to why you were using the ESC gizmo. I got right into the Avian the normal way without a problem using the NX8 alone. I just needed a refresher on the Mix, so that was very helpful. I will maiden it tomorrow, but I am a little concerned how little reverse thrust actually occurs. I wonder how much effect it will have. I have a feeling I'll be swapping a new EDF into this to give it a bit more oomph. It comes close to being able to lift its own weight, but not quite.
Again , you blew my ear drum out. I keep forgetting about that when I watch your videos. Ear buds may not be our best choice when watching Brian Philips RC . LOL. Post a warning ⚠️ on screen 30 seconds in advance. LOL
I don't think you'd have any issue, but no thrust reverse, unless you get the programmer (I don't think you can use CH5 for that...but I MIGHT BE WRONG) Avian ESC Programmer Firmware Updater bit.ly/3PFWmZY
@@BrianPhillipsRC .... and you're waiting on? LOL! It seems like the cheater holes aren't big enough for reverse thrust... ok maybe enough to slow it down marginally... but not enough to back taxi.
Man, I kinda have mixed emotions about this release. I love it and I hate it. It's definitely durable, looks amazing (because of the orange), and it stable as all get out. But man... Why not something totally new? I mean, I'll honestly get one, but probably wait till next year. Love your video's man and just your "style". I think tho in true Brian Phillips fashion... You have to try 4s. No matter what, just do it haha. For real tho, I'm really really curious.
So I have the nx6. I would be able to setup thrust reverse correct. Btw love the channel and all your content. I have learned so much from watching you videos. Please keep them coming.
Hi Brian.. I could your help.. I can set pilot fatigue OK but not controllable on my 3 pos switch... I have a DX8.. I've followed your video numerous times but can't get it to work...set my digital switch as you show, set my mix as you showed but no cigar.. Any help would be great.. Thanks
Does the plane go into thrust reverse at all? I need to know what parts are working, and what parts are not, so I can help. What switch? (A???) Is there a reason you DIDN'T use "G"? I understand preference, of course, but I just need to know what other issue is complicating your decision (possible using the same tool needed for the functions).
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks Brian.. I calibrated the ESC, Set Switch B (3 Pos), linked to ch7, Yes it goes into reverse (Pos 2 and 3 on switch B are controllable. I want pos 3 to be "Pilot Fatigue) BTW.. I was able to set reverse per the manual.. right stick down and to the left then down stick to the right....
This could work, but if you want wheels up, wheels down, you aren't gonna get it in a 50mm, in my opinion...NOW, if you're hand launching and belly landing, there's several great choices out now, not the least of which would be this one.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Yes, and you're very welcome! Glad you got it working!!!
Do you need the Avian programmer to setup thrust reverse or can you use forward programming on this model?
Brian, this is why I said I preferred the single video for unbox, build and flights - the maiden flights is the ONLY video I can find!!
The playlist was private - Sorry Rick. Thanks for the message, as it brought it to my attention. ruclips.net/p/PLXTH0DstRDc4GfDzBvo96WVzjIAbUXTzY
Thx for your vids, when I want a quality, thorough review, and not an entertaining 10 minute video you are who I come to

Like every other plane yall review, you are super helpful! Got my habu all set up, thanks to yall!!
Great to hear! thanks!!!

2:30 for reverse thrust demo.

lol the wooo wooos got me cracking up 🤙🏼
Thanks for being here with us!

Good instructions Brian.
Thanks!
Brian Phillips RC the proving ground for rc planes ! lol lol Can it do that ? Dont know , lets try! lol lol
Hey, so I heard that you can do avian prog with the NX DX . Can you make a video on that programming reverse with the nx8 that you have ?
That thing is begging for flaps!
Would this plane work with a dx5e? Theres no fancy mixing in the sticks needed right? Just a plain jane 4 channel?

Brian, you absolutely got to try if the plane can fit and fly with a 4S 2200mAh G2 battery!
I want to do it soooo bad ;)

Where is the RUclips video that shows you how to set up the reverse thrust that's what I'm trying to find I can't find it on here where is it at
Will my dx6 that came with my mini apprentice bind and work with this plane bnf

You want to to see it BURN ;) LOL!!!! Maybe :)
Why not 6s???
@@BrianPhillipsRC hahaha no! I really don't want that to happen
lots of testing of 4S was done and its not pretty.
Hay Brian... when are you going to put flaps on it? :)
Hummmmm...not sure I will, but it would be fun!
I want to see you try some thrust reverse on approach to reduce your airspeed. 😁
Guess I should watch the entire video before commenting!
When you reverse thrust landing it emulates landing on carrier deck with hook stop

I need a good grass op jet in a 50ish form.

Very nice
Awesome video, just set up my baby Habu following along, and anyone can do it. Thanks!
When does the camera crew get to fly? We want to see it!
the whole family flew the Prodigy, thats a great video
Like friend saludos 😀
i think reverse the end point sign to swicth
Yolo😩🤣
True ;)
