- This is a video for the lovely and reflective instrumental piece, The Light, by The Album Leaf. This is my second Album Leaf video, after my previous one, for their song, Window. Like with my last video, you'll notice I picked a theme to go with the title of the song, which is quite obvious. :) Also, just to add, lately this theme has been resonating with my own life. I have been challenged to think differently, having my eyes opened to possibilities, and to hope, that I had not really entertained much before... deep matters about how I view God, my faith, my life, and everything... It's been a lonely struggle at times, and I won't say that it's all clear, and I still have questions and fears and doubts, as I always do, but I believe I'm being moved in the right direction, and it's like the light is gradually coming on in the darkness, showing the way out... hard to describe really... and I'm not even totally sure yet. Only time will tell. But I think all of us can relate to the desire to find light in this often dark world that we live in, light and love to lead us through and out of the dark and scary places we can find ourselves in... often I've seen myself as a boy stuck in a dark room, and I need someone to open the locked door, let the light stream in, and carry me out into freedom ... may we all find our way through the dark, and into the light...

My uber driver was listening to this song this morning, at 5 am, while he was driving I was trying to catch a glimpse of him in the mirror. His eyes looked so sad and empty. It felt like he was about to burst in tears. I googled the sound and I found it, so I want to dedicate this comment to my uber driver. May your heart be blessed.

I found this song last night on the show "Scandal" and let me just say that it's nothing short of amazing. I cried during the scene this song was played in and all this morning while driving I cried while listening to it. Life is hard. I know that sounds so simple but it is, I never thought it could be like this. I find myself feeling so alone sometimes and nearly depressed. This song allows me to pour my feelings out rather than keep them in as I usually do.

I listen to this kind of music all the time , it really is a good way to think about things and relax or just cry . If you like this song you'll love hammock - I can almost see you . You'll def love it . And maybe sennen - where the light comes in .

Liv had the most beautiful expressions on her face when this music came on.
I first heard this song on the TV show Scandal, during the couch scene between Fitz and Olivia. And I just cried. This song touches something deep down in my heart, and sends chills through me. Everytime I listen to it I am reminded that there is true beauty in the world.
I want this to be the last song that i hear while i hold my husband's hand before i take my eternal sleep. So beautiful.

I honestly thought that this was original background music for Scandal until I randomly decided to look for it tonight after the repeat of The Trail (omg, those "one minute" scenes are killer!). I'm so happy that it's an actual song. Now I can torture myself with it every day because it's like a kick to the heart and soul.
It's a truly beautiful piece. Who cares what it's about? All that matters is that it touches you. And if you're here, you have amazing taste in music.

This song reminds me of the love my wife and I once shared. It was..life changing, frustrating, hard fought and most importantly, ours. Things did not work out between us and the love turned to ash, but when I hear this I will always remember the way her smile lit up a room, the way her laughter reminded me of innocence and finally, the way we both sacrificed to be with each other. I know this song can mean alot of things to alot of different people but what matters is that it moves us ALL.

Why are there so many people who are lonely? Why is it so hard for
people to make real connections when almost everyone wants to make real
connections?
That's a tough question... I think it's partly because we're all kind of stuck inside of our own skins, and (at least presumably) unable to read eachother's minds, so it's easy to feel alone, and it can be really difficult to understand one another sometimes as well.
I think that's part of it but there are many factors I'm sure, and the reasons may not be the same for everyone.
I think all we can do is try.
Because the people we want don't need us and the people who need us... We don't want them.

I'm extremely grateful to the show Scandal for introducing me to this song, but I'm most grateful to The Album Leaf. Besides all the comments regarding the relationship of Olivia and Fitz, I love this song for so many different reasons. It has such an impact on the life I've lived and the thoughts that come to mind every single day...I just have no words to fully describe them. And I'm sure I'll be bombarded by Internet trolls for this comment anyway, but still. You have no idea how long I've waited for a song like this and how badly I needed one with no words at all.
Every time I need a little Olitz I always find myself coming and listening to this song
I fall in love with the song over and over again. No word sung but it speaks volumes to me. This song allows me release out any sadness and makes me feel at peace afterwards. I feel God allowed this person make this song to touch me in the simplest way ever :)

While all of you guys are talking about how you love scandal this song holds one of my most intimate memories, I remember I was on FaceTime with my girlfriend and the amount of homework she had been assigned so outragus in addition to mid terms she was having a breakdown right there in front of me and in that moment I took a deep breath and I looked at her...not just her appearance which was a messy bun and hoodie but her soul she was hurting and so rushed and I remembered video I had watched on soul pancake about couples connecting in four minutes and it just so happened I remembered the song in these moments my girlfriend looked up slightly confused and wondering why I was staring at her and I told her it was because I was studying for one of the most important tests I would ever take (her) so I told her to Drop everything lay down relax and just listen I turned on the song her breathing instantly went down her face relaxed she looked beautiful When it was over she got up and began to cry But not out of discomfort or stress out of appreciation and all she said was “thank you for your existence”.

Update: to this day I’ve never felt more loved than in that moment unfortunately she left me suddenly for reasons she refused to explain has moved on.

This has to be one of the most beautiful musical pieces I've ever heard. It's almost like you can go into an immediate mediation. I loved it from the first time I heard it on Scandal. And today, I found out who the made it! And bought it! So happy!
All these people getting mad over a let's be honest pretty good tv show bringing them here....and this song only plays for about 2 mins during the show and obviously it was powerful enough to go to youtube and type in the season and episode and found it...in doing so discovered a great band with a lot of powerful music...so yeah a show took me here get over it and enjoy the music

Would have been cool if there were scenes of them together (Olivia & Fitz.) Them fighting in the White House. Going through trials and tribulations. Getting on helicopter to Vermont. Fighting to be together, but can’t. Those were amazing scenes and could have been used for this incredible music. It defines ‘Scandal.’ If you’ve never heard it.....get on that saddle dude. Cuz this series is freakin AWESOME!!

Hey Julianna, I'm sorry to hear that you've been having a rough go but glad to hear that you are determined to get out of the dark place you've been in.
I know what it feels like to be in a dark place like that and it's hell for sure, but I do believe we can find light in those dark places and find meaning and hope in our lives even in spite of all the struggle and pain that we experience.
I'm still trying to sort things out for myself but I think I have made some progress and I believe you can too.

Idk what Scandal is, but I've been listening to this song ever since a girl in college first introduced me to post-rock. Every time I feel like life is bleak and there's nowhere and no one to turn to, I listen to this and it gives me hope. It speaks volumes without a single word being said. It says, "press on, and keep your head up", and I know one of these days I'll cry tears of joy for having heeded that message.
