Wow! I love the Handicap accessibilities ! Because I am handicapped and unfortunately on some ships. I have a hard time. But that looks great for me. Thank you for showing us.
We just got off Celebrity Equinox and had a Concierge Veranda Balcony that all the way to the back of the ship, it was the last balcony Starboard before the Aft Balconies. We were on the 12th floor, directly under the outside eating area of the buffet area. We did notice a little noise on a couple of nights but it was very minimal and we felt no ship movement. Very interesting. BTW....this particular Balcony was awesome, the only negative was the distance to the elevators. for young people, it's no problem. for 75 and 79 year olds, it was a bit tiring, but we would do it again.
Just off infinity. Like you got upgraded to an accessible sunset concierge class cabin. While initially I fought the selection, I am so happy I was not successful. The balcony’s is AMAZING! ! My ugly was not the noise!but the shower that if not careful would flood the bathroom. Frequently had to dry off floor with ringing water from towels. It the balcony makes up for all the minor negatives. I think I will explicitly book this type of room again
On all 3 of our Alaska cruises we have booked aft verandas. Two of them were on the Millennium and they definitely have amazingly large balconies. Our last trip we booked on Solstice and their balconies were disappointingly small. (We were really surprised.) We never had soot issues or noise issues. I try to find a deck where we have cabins above and below us. And, you just can’t beat the view in an aft facing cabin, especially for a cruise like Alaska. I would highly recommend them.
Were you subject to engine exhaust and fume smells being at the aft of the ship? We have been on several similar vessels where we were surprised how strong the fume smells were. Thanks for another great video. James
I got a guaranteed balcony on the Jewel of the seas, at a time when I was very stressed at work. I was getting more stressed since I wasn’t assigned a room until 2 days before the cruise. It was an accessible jr suite. OMG. Walk-in shower. Walk in closet with pull-down clothes line. Huge room and balcony. Just amazed. I had a great cruise!! Relaxed on balcony many times with friends.
That's huge!! The first night we slept with the slider open all night as we had forgotten to close earlier and didn't know it was open! I thought it was just noisy air conditioning! 😊
Thanks for this review. The fear of being seasick is the reason I have not booked an aft cabin in the past. It looks great, but I’ll stick to midship and take my pics of the wake from the upper decks. 😊
We did a family suite aft balcony on the odyssey of the seas in April. That room and balcony was absolutely massive!! We loved it and plenty of room for our 4 person family (with 2 teenagers). It got a little bumpy coming into and leaving ports. We are seasoned cruisers so we didn't mind it at all..
We sailed with Celebrity last year and our regular balcony cabin had 3 times the bathroom storage space than any cabin we had on Carnival so I’m thinking it may be just something in the accessible cabins 🤔. WE LOVE CELEBRITY.. ❤❤❤❤
Love the aft cabins on the Summit. Had one in June but we we on deck 7 so no noise from above. There was more bathroom storage in our cabins with shelves on both sides of the mirror plus more under the sink. We also had a desk with even more storage.
2 years ago, We had a corner aft on summit deck 7. Unbelievable! This was when it was called ?family after balcony. Was same price as standard balcony.
We always enjoy your Good & Bad videos. We are in a regular Aqua cabin and agree the cabin storage is ample but the bathroom storage needs to double! We really appreciate your comments on the noise from the buffet.
We cruised in an aft cabin on Celebrity Equinox in June. We were on Deck 10 and it was very quiet. It had a tiny veranda but it was perfect for us. I found the location - far from the mid-ship elevators - to be a plus!
I’ve never stayed in an aft cabin, but a friend of mine recently was in an aft cabin and he told me that his balcony was always wet from the upper decks being hosed down daily. Also he wasn’t happy with the long walk to and from the elevators. This was on Celebrity Equinox.
I bid on a couple of move ups on my next cruise, one of which is aft. Hopefully it will be in a better spot if I win. As far as the storage in the bathroom, I would think that because the sink is made accessible for a wheelchair. Just a thought. Thanks for all your great information! Love your videos!
Thanks for the videos. Wish you talked a bit more about the balcony. Is there a lot of sun/shade all day. Heard lots of complaints about it being in the sun all day . Also, is it very hot due to no breeze? Does the shades help or is it shaded all day? Is it noisy sitting out there? Can you hear the sea that high up? Thanks.
we had a aft balcony on Celebrity Infinity while on a Med cruise. The room was small but the balcony was large. We had sail away toasts while leaving most ports. The balcony had full size loungers and a table and chairs that was great for breakfast. I highly recommend aft balcony rooms on Infinity.
@@pj7342 The last 3 cruises I took I got an aft balcony. Each time we had 2 full size loungers and a table and chairs. Best day was sail away from Mykonos at 10pm. There was fireworks on shore. Of course check on your ship. Some aft balconies are small. Depends on the ship.
My daughter and I are traveling next summer in a handicapped room. We debated about taking it, but we could use the room. My daughter is handicapped and uses a wheelchair sometimes and a scooter other times. My concern was the bathroom. Celebrity talked us into it, I hope the room is worth it. It is an inside cabin.
The accessible cabin is really important when using a wheelchair and or a scooter. You’ll have lots of room and won’t regret booking it. We had an accessible cabin on Celebrity Reflection earlier this year for my mum.
We sailed on a Royal Caribbean aft facing ship and discovered that day two, the entire corner balcony was covered in soot from the smokestacks. It was a 12 day Panama cruise and 4 times they had to clean it. Just fyi this was a free upgrade offered to us by the cruise booking people.
That happened to us near the pool on the Norwegian Crown-or first cruise. They offered to clean my suit, after cleaning it never did come out. I didn’t think that happened again. This was in the 90’s
Hello JJ Cruise! Thank you for another informative video… For some reason I seem to go for more forward locations. Maybe I like seeing where I’m going?? 😂. Do you think a sunset room would be more challenging for someone that has sea sickness as it’s a different feel facing aft?
We had a similar cabine on the Constellation during our 21 days B2B cruise in 2014. Nice to see it modernized. We booked this cabin because my wife needs it. Fortunately, we were on a lower floor so Your bad, was not ours and the movement was very acceptable. However, on our earlier cruise in 2012, also on the Constellation, we had been upgraded to an accessible Sky suite on the 10th deck, directly under the overhanging 11th deck with pingpong table above us. The perks (Butler and free speciality dining) was fantastic, but that cabin, I would never book again! Next July we will be on the Sillhouette, also in an accessible stateroom. In my opinion, Celebrity does a wonderful job when it comes to accessible services. On our first cruise we almost had to fight of Celebrity cruise staff who came running to my wife with wheelchairs. The winner brought us through embarkation in minutes!
My 91 year old mom and I shared an accessible Aqua Class balsony stateroom on the Reflection in January. Our bathroom was bigger but the shower was a bit smaller. It had a very small built in shower chair. The room was much bigger than my 94 year old Aunts room which was a regular Aqua Class room. In March this year we will be having our family reunion on the Celebrity Apex. I already know that I am going to hate the infinity balcony. I don't think it is a balcony; more like a window. Anyway, better to be on a cruise than on land so I will make the best of it. Love your channel and am subscribed.😊
@lizkotchek928 Sailed last year on Celebrity Apex 'Best of Scandinavia' cruise in a sunset veranda stateroom. Loved the ship and loved the itinerary. Paid extra for sunset veranda for 2 reasons: the location is my absolute favorite, and, I really hated the premise of the Infinite Balcony! Was it tolerable?? Was it better or worse than you expected? Would you ever book one again? Royal is now building their ships with them, too. Grrrr.😡
@@SharonPerson-hm9ds I am hoping to go back on the Apex again next March pending my mom's health. I was disappointed with the infinity balcony. It really was just an extra space with a window that could be rolled down. Unfortunately I need an accessable (handicapped) stateroom and they don't have regular balconies in that category. We loved the Reflection but next year we will have 3 people in the cabin and the cabins on the Reflection were considerably smaller than on the Apex.
we learned early on to always check what is above us, and below us to avoid the noise level. Had you been one or two levels down you would've heard nothing I'm sure. I am handicapped so we have had a couple of aft balconies, and they are really great going to Alaska. generally, my only criticism of the handicapped cabins is sometimes they take away the couch for no apparent reason, since there is plenty of room for it to fit, as well as my mobility scooter. Some ships don't have enough outlets, so I always bring a small extension cable with several outlets, not a surge protector, so I can plug in my scooter's battery, and several devices for recharging.
Just got off a Carnival Deck 5 aft facing- def felt the vibrations, could feel much more motion, and could smell the MDR but at least couldn't hear it.
My first cruise was on the revolutionized Millennium in Aqua Class and needless to say, an addiction to cruising was formed! The bathrooms do have a ton more storage in non accessible rooms!
We've sailed in an aft balcony twice and while we enjoyed the spacious balcony and the wake view, we didn't care for the fact that you also see the exhaust pouring off the ship. It colors the sky a weird brownish yellow and diminishes the view. You also don't always get as good of a view in port depending upon how the ship is docked. Otherwise, they are very nice cabins.
We are booked in a sunset sky suite next summer and im so excited. Ive always wanted to try an aft cabin. Our cabin has the window washing unit parked on the side so we'll see how that goes but oh well. Im still pretty damn lucky! Thanks for another great vid, guys!
I am so in love with aft facing balcony cabins that I will NOT sail unless I have one. In November, I am on your sister ship and have the end cabin with the extended balcony. I first had this type cabin on the Millennium. The balcony itself is almost as big as a standard cabin with its balcony. It is so unusual to have that much room on the balcony. I will be sad when these Millennium class ships are retired as I LOVE the aft corner balconies. Look at the deck plans and you will see the size of the balcony. The 9th deck has the largest. That is the deck I always get but would be satisfied with deck 7 or 8.
That room was really sparse due to being wheelchair accessible. My aft cabin on NCL Epic was so much better. I will always book an aft cabin because they are probably in the quietest area of the ship. Nothing like being on the balcony at night watching the wake of the ship, and waking up to spectacular views in the morning when they dock. Only issue I had was the extreme vibration the rear of the ship made when we docked, which was normal.
It's quite common to lose storage space in accessible bathrooms as my last cruise with my late husband were on accessible rooms. As for aft cabins, first 4 cruises in modern era, were all aft balconies on millennium class ships and radiance class on RCCL and only for noise and vibrations were from engines. I did get a little ill on one that was an Atlantic crossing.
Question: Were there ship's lights on the aft that stayed illuminated all night? If so, was that a problem for you? We love stargazing. We were in an aft-facing balcony once, and not only did it prevent us from seeing stars or meteors, but I had to wear a sleep mask every night.
I've heard that cabins on the aft side sometimes get an accumulation of soot from the smokestacks that falls on the balcony and it leaves a layer on the balcony, did you guys experience that on this cabin or no?
I have sailed on nothing but aft balconies and never had a problem with smoke, soot, motion or noise. If you are afraid of soot, just tell your cabin attendant wipe down the furniture every morning, they will be happy to accommodate you. As for the smoke, it does not always go aft, if you have a following wind or cross wind you won't see it. One cruise at night we were traveling 18 knots and we had an 18 knot following wind and it was amazing to see the smoke going straight up even though we were trucking along at 18 knots. Once in a lifetime view.
Accessible rooms are always spacious. I spent extra for what I thought would be a dream room, aft view. The room shook and rattled for one week. It was noisy, and the experience was not what I dreamed of.
We had an aft room/suite 1x on a different line- but.. not our favorite choice . We dont usually like the vibration & movements- However, for a view like this --- we might be able to handle it lol 😅😅😅😅❤❤❤ as always - fantastic video Jared!!!❤ Ps- we had an accessible suite 2x prev., as assigned only 3days prior to boarding, it obviouslywas not needed - the size was amazing,& loved the bigger shower .. the balcony sliding door was electric and Extemely slow. **** our only negative comment besides the movement/ vibrations Happy travels 🚢 ❤❤❤ 🚢
The large cabin space looks inviting but, I prefer to be as forward as possible and on an upper deck. I just like to see where I'm going and maybe know when to "brace for impact". (Shout-out to Captain Kirk.) But the view aft cannot be beat especially when there's a following swell. Good stuff, guys. Thanks.
I sail primarily on RCCL and the AFT cabins are similar, but the elevators are so far away, I would believe I would be frustrated by the long walks as we go back and forth to the cabin all day long.
On these older Celebrity ships, there are three elevator banks, so there are elevators and stairs not too far from the aft cabins. It's one of the nicer things about their older ships!
One time my friend had an aft corner and her deck was HUGE, back and length of room on the side. I never take a guarantee room for that very reason. I want to pick where I stay, rooms ALL around. I would kill myself on that ramp under the carpet. 🤯
Sailed in an aft balcony, not accessibility, didn't like it, the balcony was tiny, people above could look down on us, if you stood at the railing you could look over at all the others.
Aft is fine. My last cruise we did a royal guarantee interior and NEVER again. We had a room on deck 2 all the way at the front. It was beyond awful. The air didn't work in the cabin...even after it was "fixed". When the anchor came out your entire room shook and the noises it made sounded like the anchor was going to crash through the wall. Sleeping at night was awful...you could feel the ship going up and crashing as hard as it could in the water. Sounded like a creaking house all night. It was so bad several nights, a few of us couldn't even sleep in the cabin.
Yes, I can't wait to get into a cabin and hear noise all day and night...I love it...I look forward to being annoyed all hours of the day...GEEZ...A little need for silence...are you bring paid by the cruise line, sure sounds like it...99.9 % of the people if they knew how noisy it is, they would never book it...
Wow! I love the Handicap accessibilities ! Because I am handicapped and unfortunately on some ships. I have a hard time. But that looks great for me. Thank you for showing us.
I've had the aft facing accessible cabin on two NCL cruises. LOVED THEM. The balconies were amazing.

We've booked our first aft-facing sunset veranda cabin for our Tokyo cruise on Millenium in 2024. Can't WAIT!!!
We have 2 aft wrap around balconies booked on Carnival with our family for my grandson's 5th birthday. I hope we love it.
I've chosen aft facing balconies twice and will chose one on my Bermuda sailing.
Thank you for the video
Hi guys, what a great cabin!
Thanks for the info I will be on the Summit in November. I can’t wait to see more from you.
We are always worried about the noise and vibrations. Thanks for confirming!
We were on the Summit in July in Aqua in 1138. We LOVED it!

I stayed in an aft balcony on the Equinox in 2011. There was some soot, but I don't recall things being overly wet. This was in the western Caribbean.
I bid on a couple of move ups on my next cruise, one of which is aft. Hopefully it will be in a better spot if I win. As far as the storage in the bathroom, I would think that because the sink is made accessible for a wheelchair. Just a thought. Thanks for all your great information! Love your videos!
Our one and only aft cabin. There was continuous banging from the crew door below. All hours. One and done

That’s why I book a stateroom with staterooms above and below my room
Love your posts.
Omg yes, absolutely, the noise factor above and below, would really annoy me.
There is 1 more thing bad about the aft cabin. It is the furthest away from the front of the ship. That can be a long walk if you need to go there.
What room number is this does anyone know?
the bad....long walk to the room after a few drinks
Did you notice any soot?
None for us!
Good lord.. why didn't you just say handicapped room? I was watching this video to find out what you meant by accessible room.
