Thanks for dropping a like to help more enthusiasts discover the classics! Would you have this '72, or opt for the wild Zagato?
Hey tedward can we get a Buick gs test drive?
The 72
@@yes8032 proly the 70 gsx
What's the cost of this car? I know I won't be able to buy it, but just incase ..
This '72. I mean those lines man, such a handsome car!
It's depressing to think of what Lancia ended up as
Such a shame
Their only car still sells pretty well in Italy but yea...it's a shame
They're coming back though! Stellantis is investing again in the brand :)
@@ambergris5705 Will they ever produce rally cars again though? Or will they continue to make rebadged Chryslers/DS's?
@@blue7081 Lancia hasn't always been rallying. But they have always raced. I'd love to see Lancia back in F1 as well. But there's nothing concrete yet, Stellantis is still figuring out where to position the brand. However, given the work that they usually do, even if the platform is going to be shared with the rest of the group, you can be sure that the cars will keep their identity, not like the last generation under Chrysler - FCA
I went to Ragusa, Sicily in August 1977, to visit some family members. The mother of one of my cousin's had one of these, but in Burgundy red . I asked her, if I could drive it around for a short distance on some twisty mountain roads. Wow I was astonished at how nimble and agile this Fulvia was. It handled the narrow and twisty roads with considerable ease. What a truly great and wonderful car, a real joy to drive.
I lived in Comiso and had a 1973 Fulvia. Many fun roads to drift it through the curves. Have a Fiat Abarth now but will always miss my Fulvia.
Feels like I'm playing Dirt Rally again
Shoot, I'd forgotten about that game.
Two left tightens, caution don't cut! :D
My favorite car in DiRT Rally
Top Gear (Season 14) named Lancia the best car maker ever! I would say they were not wrong
An absolute beauty of a machine, I love it! Please bring more old-school Lancia, they truly were masterpieces of engineering and styling.
My Alfasud Sprint has the fuel jet sign too for the choke, rather than the more conventionnal butterfly symbol we're used too. And the ignition barrel is on the left of the column, so you have to turn the key towards you. I love those details
That's probably related to the specific carbs used for this. Most Weber and Dellorto units enrich the mixture not by closing a butterfly valve over the venturi, but by an additional jet. At least the DRLA40s in my Alfa 33 are like that.
In the Fiats it's exactly the same, with the choke and the ignition barrel.
The Lancia Fulvia is the most beautiful front wheel drive car of all time, change my mind!
I’m so thrilled to see you driving my old car! I had a ‘72 Fulvia just like this, except mine was yellow with a black interior. It was such an exciting car to drive, it always felt like you were speeding, and that little engine just loved to be revved. It was also not a car you see in Connecticut where I live, and everywhere I went I got compliments and questions. The key to owning one (or most Italian cars) is to not drive them in wet conditions. My car had spent its first 35 years in Ibiza and was kept dry, I kept mine garaged in winter and on rainy days. It was also an easy car to maintain myself, except for really complex jobs.
It was my second favorite car to drive that I ever owned, the first being a 1973 Lotus Europa John Player Special in black and gold. It handled like no other car I’ve ever driven, like the steering wheel was connected to my brain. It was a seriously fast little car that loved to be driven fast. I’m assuming you live in Massachusetts from where you get most of your cars from? Well, if you’ve never driven up to the top of Mt. Greylock in the Berkshires, you need to. I’d often take the Lotus or the Lancia up and down it totally mind blowing (as long as you’re not afraid of heights). Most of that area of the Berkshires has great roads for sports cars.
That is the most accurate tachometer I've ever seen in this era. To come out of Italy as well...
Same haha. The 69 I drove last week certainly has more lag
@@TedwardDrives it had three positions
1: running
2: driving
3: redline
Italian old school! ;) And that v4 that roars... awesome
Thanks for the review!
When I'm sad about the fact that I live in London and my Fulvia is in a garage in Italy, I open this video and listen to that engine.
This cheers me up.
What a beautiful car. It looks very well maintained. The seats look amazing!
I visited Rome in the summer of 1981, and in a city full of Fiat 500s and 750s tearing around within an inch of their red-line, there were still some of these to be seen for the person who could afford something in a class above the Fiats. Among the small FWD Italian cars, the Lancia Fulvia (1500 or 1600 cc's at that time) were the top of the heap.
Absolutely gorgeous Coupé Lancia
...Again, the symphony of that V4!!!! What a stunning car!!! It is indeed a beautiful, high-quality, and competent coupe. My uncle had the exact same model, but in light blue (peacock blue) - loooooovely car! The thing was built to such incredibly high quality!!!
From Naples to USA!
I love the "Blue Lancia" paint on that beautiful car.
One of my most favourite Italian coupes ever! So happy you got to drive it!
Leather seats is a bomb!
So gorgeous
they're actually made of skai, faux leather, but still great!
This is one of the best sounding 4 cyl
Inb4 Tedward drops a video with the road version of the 037 or Delta S4, what a dream. Your reviews are the best man, definitely wish you success, you deserve it
One of my favourite cars, it looks so beautiful .
My dad just imported one of these recently, beautiful little cars
Your dad has excellent taste
Tedward that knob under the dash that you referred to is the choke and the dash lamp indicates when the choke is on. Those cars are funny that way; the heat control and the hood release are also located under the dash.
Unless the interior of the car you drove has been reupholstered the seats are vinyl. I had to look at the backing of the seats on my ‘66 Fulvia to determine that as the quality of the vinyl is that good. I agree that the 4-speed gearbox has a much nicer feel to it.
Beautiful looking car. I've heard of the Lancia Fulvia. And I've seen pics of them. But I've never seen one in person. 🙂
first time I've heard Lancia pronouced correctly haha! what a car though, so much history, Lancia made some seriously amazing cars in the 20th Century, piloted by some of greatest drivers of their time.
I was unnerved by last week's Maybach, but I could not place why it did work for me. I realized that any car company currently around would make exactly that Maybach if given enough money. The vehicle isolates you. It has no soul. There isn't an original though in The Maybach.
Watching this Lancia be odd nails it. This Fulvia has a soul. It proudly has fun and does it with chutzpah.
chutzpah... that's a great word haha
have to agree with you!
Since Ted drived a Lancia in the last video, I knew when 72 Fulvia comes by.
This one the 72 is such a more refined car than the 69! It really is a much better and put well put together car.
69 nice 🙂
Hate to say but by 1972 Fiat had purchased Lancia and they gutted the company. They used Russian steel which is where Lancia got the reputation for its cars rusting in the showrooms and they used cheaper components everywhere they could. If you put a ‘69 Fulvia next to the ‘72 you’ll take the early car every time.
Haven’t even watched the full thing yet , but it goes into my favorites. Amazing wanna-have cars of all time!
Loved my Lancia! The mechanical hand carved feel of everything is something special. Mine was a blue 2 liter Beta coupe. Top Gear did a hit job on the car I know. To be fair they were sadly bad for rust. They had been bought by Fiat true but they were true Lancias. The engine was an inline 4 from Fiat but Mr. Lampredi's little four banger was pretty wonderful too. I have very found memory of drifting down little gravel roads. Amazed at how happy it was in it's element. Your videos have great sound just wish I could feel and smell the inside of that car too. Sounds crazy but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from.
Those italians license plates were from the 70s, when Italian vehicles were plated by regions. As an example the one in the trunk had the NA initials which stands for Napoli (NA) naples
Man its nice finding a new car review channel, great work!
I like how the pops are like soft tambourine slaps rather than the fairly annoying at times very loud pops and bangs of modern cars.
Next video: "Thanks to Bond Group I'm driving this Lancia 037!"
Fingers crossed!
Theres one beeing sold for 14500€ very close to me with only 18k kilometers. I am so damn tempted to buy it and this video hasnt made it any better. :D
18k kilometers? If that's true, BUY IT! Better check tho, as when it hits 100k it just resets
@@user-lc8fc4to5j Yup, turned out to be 118k.
lovely car. I would so love one of these. A coop is where you keep chickens.
Lancia has won in rallys and not with all types of cars. FWD, RWD, 4x4, NA, Turbo, Supercharged, Turbocharged+Supercharged. I don't think a real car guy could not love this brand. And the Fulvia is one of the best of them all
One of my fave cars in Dirt Rally XD
Such a smart looking sports coupe.. 😊
Gorgeous CAR !! thanks for sharing !!
01:51 polished stainless steel. Hardly any chrome on a Fulvia. I know.
This thing is awesome man🔥🔥
I like this the best!! Beautiful and luxurious
Awesome vid man! 🔥
I've never quite had the same softspot for the fulvia that I have for the Alfa GTA, but thats kind of like saying i don't like winning one lottery as much as winning another lottery!
We just need to find a way to get @redshift75 on instagram to give you a go in his Alfa (and I suppose his F40/CLK GTR/Resto-mod Delta/Singer!) for some comparison!
I would drive this car. It sounds like angry bees in a good way, and I bet with it being a high revving V4 it has a respectable amount of power.
Car that can rev to the limit with a reason is fun
Oh my god... just like the one my granpa had! What a fantastic little car!!!
I miss those times when a 1.3 litre engine was good enough to have fun with!
I'm currently driving a 1.8 liter miata
1.6 liter turbo Fiesta st for me :)
What a beautiful car!
Awesome car had one back in 1982. So nice
Wonderful car, I love it! Thank you for an interesting ride! I hope someday to see on your channel Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Junior, the main rival of this Lancia. Well, speaking of Italian cars (and a little bit about the British), I really really wanted a comparative test drive between the Fiat 124 Sport Spider, Alfa Romeo Spider and MGB
Lovely car iv had it for 3 years and did a lot of travelling around Greece.Nice handling , never had problems.
I was hoping you'd drive one of these
So so slick. One of my dream cars
oh god ! what a car italian real classic one. thanks man for that.
Dude I can only imagine trashing it on a rally stage lol
I'm glad this didn't rust away lmao
I wonder if Top Gear was exaggerating about that
Nah they really did all fall apart if they weren’t taken care of. This is pretty
Impressive to see in good condition
@@TedwardDrives all cars rust, Japanese cars of this era suffered with rust and Renaults. Even Vauxhall had rust issues which was sorted with the help of Opel.
Chefs kiss
Masterpiece.
ahh that sound :)
Excellent video. Thank you
Il volante in legno era uno status simbolo negli anni '70
I used to hate slow cars but after owning a car that has 100hp I have to love slow cars.
You can slam it and feel as if your going fast and yet, you are still under the speed limit. Its great.
It was the favorite car of upper-class ladies in the 1960s.
Such a beauty❤
I'd like to see a go pro mounted above the exhaust, like what jayemm does
That’s cool
0:55 Wow! Looks soo good!
Too bad Lancia is dead but those cars what produce are simply golden.
Pls next Lancia 037 Road car.
Nice one! If old italian cars, I hope you'll drive a Fiat 2300 S Coupe too one day! :) Or a Stilo Abarth 2.4 20V at least. :D
Hi ted:)
Hey!
My all time favourite car
Please do an Autobianchi A112 review. Any type. Abarth or not.
The lever that raise up the rpm it was used for cold start in the morning to better warm up the motor, did you know that the car came from naples, thats why in the plate there was an NA
Thank you for the video! wonderful little car. I think the orange light at the bottom of the tacho is to remind you the hand brake is on?
Probably. It was down but those sensors can be sensitive and remain on with the slightest nudge
Rally Legend
I love this car. I came close to purchase one with exactly this dark blue color in 91/92 for my wife. It was sitting at a dealer opposite our house for 7000 Deutsch Marks. That was a little too much at the end and we ended up buying a used Polo GT instead.
Beautiful.. take my money now
Keep up the good work. This is off topic from this video… but hopefully you can get your hands on the new Civic SI pretty soon and tell us what you think.🤙🏻
Makes me wonder if Bob Hall ever drove one....
Kudos for actually pronouncing Lancia correctly!
Finally someone who pronounces it correctly!.
Magnifico! ❤
next car you need to drive tedward i'd love to see is the old style gt 86 :3 the thing that started drifting
Lancia is a magnetic name.. lovely name ,is time for Lancia 2022..new power of LANCIA..♥️🤗🚘🚗
Thick wheels prevent my fingers from cramping, plus provide more leverage, especially when steering is unassisted. But that's just me.
The older cars with the thin steering wheels also were very large so you could get more leverage to help turn the wheel.
Love these cars
That's the choke
Just a beautiful car!
First rule of safety: Adjust all your mirrors.
I would gladly choose this over any supercar.
I'm Italian and every time i see what type of car Lancia produced 30, 40 years ago, is strange to say but i'm sad. Because these cars are only a far memory; with the fulvia and the Delta we have also beaten Audi in the WRC in 1987, but now? well..we can say unfortunately that they no longer exist. The Fulvia has not been produced for 50 years, the stratos (another Lancia rally car that has practically disappeared) and the Delta well, they tried to revive it with a new model in 2010 but it was not very successful because it was fitted with a fiat engine, and now she too is out of production. Everything that Vincenzo Lancia, the founder, worked for in his life has been lost, and believe me when I tell you that as an Italian these words were difficult to write. All that remains is the memory, the memory of a past that can no longer return.
it´s a choke !
scca rallye vibes ftw
I am Italian and I can say that our historic cars are very fascinating ... the tobacco-colored interiors are a wonderful thing ... however, it was right to keep the original plates
I like it
I need to find one of these at some point in my life. I prefer the looks of the Series 1 tbh, but I'll take what I can get!
Not a fan of the looks of the Zagato.
PS, I also love slow cars because you can play around even if there's traffic. Its something I really love about my RX-7, it'd be generous to say it has 90hp at the wheels, but it is just so much fun to drive.
These cars are great. What happened to the 2 main gauges that they're so fogged oveR? Also am I alone in not liking thin wooden wheels? Nearly caused me to crash cause it was hot and my hands were sweaty. No grip on the wheel at all. But yeah, this was when cars interiors had character too, along with the exteriors.
Not foggy. Just reflective
a Ferrero steering wheel would be a better option indeed!
@@user-lc8fc4to5j Personally I like the Personal Fitti wheels :)
@@RJW14 tbh i think they look too modern on a 72 car
@@user-lc8fc4to5j if you've ever felt one you won't care about that 😁
Hey, quick question. Do you have the audio flipped, compared to the video?
At 12:00, where cars go by on your left, the cars can actually be heard from the right. Is this intentional?
I just checked on the original audio, the rendered file, and the RUclips video. The truck and subsequent vehicles passing shows up on my left ear as they should.
@@TedwardDrives hmmm... Might have to check my phone then, thank you for this swift response. Loving your videos btw :D
