    It worked!! Can't believe it. The Right Main out was giving me really low distorted signal on my X Air 18. I opened it up. Made sure all the ribbons were firmly in and it works again! Can't thank you enough for this video! Big Band of Boom thanks you!!

    Wow, awesome video - thorough but to the point. I have a small guitar repair/modification shop and I do basic work on pedals and amps and stuff but not a ton of expertise on modern digital electronics. I have a desperate customer with a gig in 48 hours who came to me as a last resort before buying a new one (he's got a Mackie ProFX12) and you, sir, just helped save his butt and put 75 bucks in my pocket! You got yourself a new subscriber!

    I just did this in my X18 and it worked! I lost all sound coming from it last week during a live gig, no sound either from main outputs or the buses. So I decided to open it before taking it to repair, and the cable wasn’t disconnected at all, but after unplugging it and cleaning the whole thing it is working again!

      @QuickEZ  2 месяца назад

      Well, not exactly what I was hoping to fix for everyone when I made the video…but if it at least helped you know what to disconnect and clean then I’ll call that a win!
      Glad you’re up and running.
      Thanks for watching and happy mixing!

    Owning an XAir 18 I encountered a similar issue... One Main Output sometimes didn't work or with poor sound Quality. The robbon cable wasn't disconnected but pressing it firmly did fix the issue. Of course the inside of an XAir differs from the XR-mixers but Ribbon cables are mounted in a similar way.
    So thanks for your video!

      Thank you for watching, and more importantly, thanks for posting this.
      I find it very interesting that a loose ribbon cable can effect one side of the output and not the other. As you state, things can differ between types of mixers, but you've touched on a key issue that I was unable to replicate with my testing, but know that other people have been experiencing. This give me a reason to dig deeper and try all my testing again.
      Thanks again, and happy mixing!

    Thanks for this video! I hope to solve the problem i have with our XR18 (all AUX busses sound great, only the main out which we use for IEM as well is heavily distorted even on low volume)!

    I have the XR18. Interesting to see the insides. I had a problem where the first 6 mic inputs weren't getting to the mains. I found(don't remember where) a place on the computer that lets you reset things to factory settings. They have been working just fine since doing that.

    • @QuickEZ
      @QuickEZ  8 месяцев назад

      Factory reset seems to be something many people have to do with the XR series.
      I haven’t had to do that myself…yet.

    Thanks! The left main output of my X Air 18 has stopped working after being intermitent for a few months...I'll open it up and take a look.

    • @QuickEZ
      @QuickEZ  8 месяцев назад

      Let me know if it was the ribbon cable. As I’m sure you saw in my video. I was not able to make mine “intermittent”, it was all or nothing for me. So I’d love to hear if this was your issue.

    • @dikless222
      @dikless222 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@QuickEZ ok, so it WASN'T the ribbon cable. Must be another issue. Will take to my 'fixit guy' to find out the problem. Was interesting to take the unit to bits and have a look inside though!

      Thanks for the update.
      I think it’s good to get a peek inside your equipment from time to time. Helps remove some mystery as to how our devices work.
      I’m sorry it wasn’t the easy fix for you, but that certainly tracks with my inability to recreate the signal intermittently.
      Hopefully it’s not something costly for you.
      Let us know what it ends up being.
      Good luck and thanks for watching.

    • @QuickEZ

      Hi Audra,
      Despite it making no sense to me, others have reported being able to replicate only missing one side of the main mix with this exact ribbon cable issue.
      Certainly, trying the reseat of the cable shouldn’t make your problem worse.
      Please be sure to ground yourself by touching metal before interacting with any internal components.
      Thanks for watching and good luck!!

    Would you be able to do a video on how to fix an issue on the xr16/18 with the busses? Right now i have 3 wireless transmitters connected to busses 1-3 all the transmitters picked up signal but only the transmitter in bus 1 sent sound to my wireless receiver the other 2 busses were dead silent but they received signal.

    • @QuickEZ
      @QuickEZ  5 дней назад

      I can sure try to address issues to the busses.
      But it sounds like your issue is between your transmitters and your receivers, if I’m reading your comment correctly.
      You said all 3 receivers got signal from the buses. But only the first one transmitted to the receiver.
      That’s a transmit/receive issue. Not a bus issue.
      If you’ve got more information. Please share it so I know if it’s something I can help with.

      @QuickEZ that's what I would like to know XD I don't quite know how to explain it exactly but everything is as I said, I'd look at all 3 busses I plugged into and they all showed signal on both the mixer and in all 3 busses in x air edit and mixing station, however for some reason bus 1 was the only that had sound coming from the mixer->transmitter-> receiver, bus 2 and 3 going to the transmitters showed on both transmitters that they were picking up a signal but couldn't for the life of me find why the transmitters in both of those busses weren't sending sound. It could be bad cables but I just bought them yesterday and the transmitters I bought a lil over a week and a half ago

    • @QuickEZ
      @QuickEZ  5 дней назад

      Ok. So this further explanation supports that it’s probably a transmitter/ receiver issue.
      Bit just to make sure I’m reading this correctly:
      1. You have signal showing on all 3 busses.
      2. You are seeing signal on all 3 transmitters
      3. RECEIVER 1is getting signal. RECEIVERS 2&3 are not.
      Is this correct??
      Can you tell me what wireless system you’re using?

    • @codylieske3444
      @codylieske3444 5 дней назад

      @QuickEZ yup that is correct except all the transmitters show signal but only the transmitter connected to bus 1 has sound, I'm using galaxy audio AS-950's

    • @QuickEZ
      @QuickEZ  5 дней назад

      It looks like the 950’s have a headphone jack on the transmitter.
      If you plug headphones into transmitters 2 and 3
      Do you hear your audio from the mixer?
      And…dumb question…you have the transmitter and the receivers synced to the same channel?

    Have you had any reports of this happening with other mixing boards? I’m having the same issue with a Behringer Xenyx 2442. I’ve been going around the issue by daisy chaining the two main speakers through the output that works and sacrificing the ability to pan L/R. It’s not something I feel comfortable doing (for a live band), so I either want to fix or replace the mixer at some point in the near future.

    • @QuickEZ
      @QuickEZ  4 месяца назад

      Hey Master,
      The only one I'm personally aware of having similar issues is the Soundcraft UI24.
      But I would imaging this is a possibility with any console that has ribbon cables inside.
      If you're ok with opening it up to have a look you may see your issue right away and be able to rectify the situation without involving 3rd parties or the exchange of $$$.
      For the effort of removing a few screws, it's probably worth it. At least you'll know if it's something you actually need to spend money on at that point.
      Just remember, any time you open up a device, ground yourself before touching any internal components!!!
      Let me know if you give it a go and what the end result is. I'm sure anyone else passing by here would want to know if it was the same issue.
      Thanks for watching and good luck!
