How many parts will this episode get? the anime finished three stories in today's episode. there must have been MANY things that didn't appear in the anime... probably in Emilia's trial
My suppositions: Emilia is a clone of Satella. Therefore, Satella is her mother. It is almost the same thing what Beatrice is and the same reason Beatrice call Echidna her mother. Echidna and Satella used to be best friends. They both tried to achieve immortality together. Satella achieved that first (Emilia, aka a clone of her self). Emilia's father is her vessel or something (just like Ryuzu Meyer). All the witches (except Echidna) loves Emilia's mother (which is Satella) the same way it is portraited in the story they like Satella. Something happed, Satella went crazy. Echidna created the sanctuary. The author is unveiling a lot of forshadowing in the story so when it is finally revealed it won't become strange.
Elsa: Here's my tragic and elaborate backstory detailing how I became the assassin I am today. Garfiel: Damn bro that's crazy, but I don't remember asking.
Garfiel vs Elsa was such an intense fight to watch, it's funny how more and more excited she was about fighting him, and it got really intense when they were biting each other on the floor, it was interesting how her neck wasn't healing though, that moment Garfiel throws that rock pig and ending her life had such impact.
Lol good one, tho I would say he actually was just blinded by rage since he realized he wouldn't make it in time, and so he reacted in a tantrum fashion by just indiscriminately shooting at Ram (also, note how he could've easily killed Ram earlier when he interrupted her spell) - this is highly uncharacteristic of the logical and "cold" Roswaal we've seen so far which just makes it even more... *sad*.
My man Subaru really tried pulling a Goblin Slayer by creating a dust explosion using the flour. But man he really does need some science lessons from Senku
Ok ok, I know I've been uploading a lot of Re: Zero lately. But this weekend there'll be something new! So, the variety content will be coming back soon.
I’m 99% certain I know why Echidna was crying. She was jealous and hurt that Emilia could be satisfied without having all her desires fulfilled. Echidna being the Witch of Greed is cursed to want. She wants to know everything. She wants to live forever to achieve that. Her thirst for knowledge can never be satiated. And here comes Emilia whom she hates for some other unknown reasons, finding happiness or contentment without having everything she wants. Emilia accepted herself and her decisions and feels complete. Echidna is empty.
Really I thought the bitterness was more of a sadness. On trial 1 Emilia is happily jabbing back at Echidnas loathing attitude so I felt this was more Emilia saw her actually saddened or distraught? Supposition: Echidna couldn't face her own present back when she was alive and she's upset Emilia is making such a selfless decision to live out in the open turmoil than seclude in the trial's illusion?? I mean that was kind of what Echidna was trying to do when she built sanctuary to hide in. She even played with the idea of running away from the place if she had had more time and resources to start anew because of how near archduke of Melancholy was getting. Instead this little kid (in her eyes) is sort of going balls to the wall against a lot more bad things to come that Echidna might already be aware of thanks to her book and it dort of saddens her that she didn't have that courage and maybe even what her acquaintance's daughter us going to be facing later
@@gbcls that makes sense!! i can see it being out of sadness and regret, probably even envy, i mean Echidna said herself she regrets many things. She's kinda like Roswaal in that aspect bc she can't let go of her past and regrets. If it is tho, it makes me more sad than anything bc i definitely can understand the feeling
My favorite part of Emilia's second trial was her telling Archie that he was her big brother, which I think came as a surprise to me that she thought of him as much as Fortuna and Geuse. In the LN, she even said something like, "I'll be okay because I have a Family; a Mother, a Father, and a Brother".
Is Echidna Emelia's real mother? That was wat I thought. Also, she thanks Echidna for showing her the alternate reality, where Echidna hated her even more.. Also since Echidna created Puck to protect and help Emelia, this could be a reason for her hatred. Since she did not remember 'maybe her real mom' and what she did for Emelia, to protect her. Still think Echidna is Emilia's real mom and the similarities in them.
OMG you're the greatest! i wouldnt have known that scene hold such meaning in emilia's entire backstory, well u saved me from missing such beautiful moment in that episode without even realizing it, great job!
Hey AniNews I would love to see you cover Mushoku Tensei cut content. So far the show is amazing and it would be nice to see all the missed out details the show didn’t cover from the Light Novel. Your videos are amazing as always can’t wait for next weeks Re:Zero cut content I’m sure it would be great considering how awesome today’s episode was.
Bruhhh, my boyfriend put me onto this video. I wasn't ready for this explanation that I needed to hear. Part of me wanted to dismiss the significance between Emilia and the mirror, but as soon as the video came around to 8:30, I shed a tear when you said she made sure to open her eyes. I know I might get hate for this, but Emilia was a character I very much disliked with a passion, only because she felt like a burden to Subaru. She was always moping and gave up quickly , yet Subaru is quite literally weak person yet he proves her wrong by being resilient and optimistic. These past few episodes really opened my eyes and made me appreciate Emilia, I finally understand why she was like this. I cant wait to see how she changes now that she's acknowledged her past. I love Emilia, and am thankful Subaru was able to help her muster up the courage to reflect. :)
Damn, when Emilia said that she does not look like Fortuna, I just thought that she said it because she recently just started to remember her, and did not thought much about it. But now, damn, she could not look in the mirror since she awoken. She was still a little, confused child in her mind.
I think that Echidona as the witch of Greed realized that what made her strong prevents her from ever being happy! Emilia can enjoy the little things in life and the imperfections, but Echidona can't. She'll strive to achieve something and will stop at nothing to make it a reality, but she can't enjoy the success as she'll immediately change her goals to a new target...
I thought the same thing about Echidna’s reaction, but I think she may have also been frustrated to tears that her barrier was actually going to be brought down. She sacrificed a lot to erect that barrier, so it’s possible that she genuinely felt grief at the idea that the barrier would fall to a person that made completing the trial look so easy. Maybe it’s a consequence of her own insecurities? The fact that this isn’t immediately evident is what makes this series great. The characters actually seem as if they could be real; at least most of the time.
She didn’t sacrifice much at all for that barrier. Roswaal, Beatrice, and Ryuzu did. Ryuzu lost her life. Roswaal’s injuries was extensive and couldn’t be healed. Beatrice lost her best friend and lost her big brother in a way to physical injuries. We don’t know what happened to Echidna after the Hector fight, but with the barrier being put up Echidna got what she wanted in the end I do agree that it could be her own insecurities

It kinda is, but it’s mostly just a toxic codependent relationship. Ram likes Roswaal cuz he’s actually taken off his “mask” in front of her before. It parallels Rem and Subaru’s confession scene. I personally believe emilia words made echidna cries because she remembered the good old days with satella since the two were similar in kindness too. and she couldnt bear to see her any longer.
Nah he already knew she loved Roswal as much as he hated it and was bothered by it. He also knows Ram is out of his league of only for the age gap. His feelings are stronger than a crush obviously but have zero expectations of reciprocation
the sunlight. at a certain distance and angle, the mirror reflects sunglight, so you can't see it. but if you walk closer, then the sun isn't reflecting at you anymore, and you will be able to see the mirror properly
Now that the perspective has been released from Subaru's point of view I see that everyone has their own quirks. Invitation into the world of re zero has done it's work, and all that is left is to see if you could fit in. I'm not so sure about it, but if I had chance to make my own adjustments before being shifted then maybe. Like being able to set up the shift so that it happens like when you begin your adventures in Skyrim. "Hey, you, you're finally awake." Skyrim was quite a zen garden for me, but then being able to get around people like you did in the game would just be the trick. Enchanting, smithing, and whatever other tricks there were should come with me also. Now it sounds like I would want to be reborn as a Dovahkiin. I just like how chill time I could have by adventuring, even if dragons kept swooping down on me. Still I'm more into how Legion from Marvel superheroes is. Worlds that revolve around and with him or them. I guess I would pick up the ace of cards that would ensure survival, and my preference of being jack of all trades, but master of none. Being able to mix your own course and find solace that would last longer than any game or show would be the goal. And here I went to check out what was the theme song for quantum of solace...
Echidna knows parts of the future surrounding Emilia and Subaru and has planned for it centuries ago, also knew/was involved with though didn't create/maybe the time he went from a lesser spirit with no consciousness to himself??? Petelgeuse along with Flügel Satella etc, may also have known and cared about Fortuna back then, but these are people who suffered and died in futures she partly prepared for and now Emilia's trials are all showing her the last moments of the people she cared about being broken while Emilia's able to accept that grief and has no idea about any of the future knowledge which Echidna had. She's crying and hates her because she ends up running trials which hurt her more than the actual trial taker Emilia. It's the same as when Beatrice cried and lashed out when Subaru showed he killed Petelgeuse, if Beatrice cried for him of course Echidna back then could have cared that much for him too. Echidna just picked greater good over her loved ones and they suffered for it. She didn't have zero emotional attachment, and anything from when she was alive raising Beatrice and co could easily hurt her. Petelgeuse wasn't an artificial spirit necessarily I'm not sure, but his conversation with Emilia in one of the versions suggests Satella lifted him up from a state of no awareness as a lesser spirits. Kind of like Echidna introducing Carmilla as giving emotions and love to non human beings, although he wasn't necessarily made by them he was basically given a self and identity and personhood... Makes his obsession with Satella a lot more understandable imo. And Echidna had him tutor Beatrice, knew all the witches as well as Flügel, she could easily have history with him and Fortuna as well which she's not revealing. And I also want to emphasise this doesn't mean Echidna "knows the future". All the books of wisdom/copies are flawed and they act kind of as if there's one path they can pick for it, but Echidna's book was limitless and instead likely had her lost in infinite possibilities so she could never know enough(hence greed). She would have planned for many futures at once, prepared for common elements and done so based on their probability of occurring given how many of the infinite futures they appear in, while focusing on the end goal as she'd have Subaru do in the contract so she had to accept many sacrifices on the way. This is entirely compatible with Subaru not being accounted for (exactly, Roswaal technically accounts for him in a lot of ways) by the book because shifting futures enough to break down the actual book of wisdom's information on all possibilities at once takes much more drastic changes than beating the gospels(seemingly running more on a handful of futures which benefit the user AND twisted in their creation).
I don't understand why so many people think that Minerva is her mother. She literally said in the episode that she knew her mother very well, also both echidna and Minerva were showing some sort of compassionate emotion towards Emilia, inferring that they might be reminded of someone else, her mother. I think they had a love and hate relationship with Emilia's biological mother, and maybe her mother sacrificed herself or something and must've done something evil prior to that. All of the witches knew Emilia's mother very well. That's why in the latest episode Minerva said something in reference to Emilia's persistence and strength "That part of you is nothing like your mother" and later on say's "I guess her evil plots do good things sometimes". Also good to note that Minerva made a promise to Emilia's mother, to not to tell Emilia about her mother, which also supports my theory.
her mother might be Satella herself, since the witches care about her (which is not the same as the Witch of Envy), and people also often called Emilia the witch's descendant in her memories so it might be that.
I understood that her jump at the end signified her overcoming an unwillingness to see herself as she is now, but yeah I had no idea it was in reference to her overall trauma and not just tied to feelings towards her parents.
Theory: What if Emilia's parents were the King and Queen of Lugunica from 100 years ago? It would make sense then, why Guese treats Emilia as royalty. But I guess this theory has too many holes in it. Surely, if the former queen was an elf, there would be an uproar in the kingdom because all their children would be half-elves. Plus the queen wouldn't be able to hide it since royalty marries royalty so, even if the queen could hide her ears, when the king got married, he would have had to marry Elvish royalty. That would be an impossible secret to keep giving it's geopolitial importance. I suppose her father could be the king and her mother someone the king fell in love with when he was just the prince and.had a child with the elf. But that probably has plenty of holes in it as well since someone would have already thought of it.

What's the track that starts playing at 2:05? I had assumed it was from the S2 soundtrack, but I couldn't find it. :(
I personally believe emilia words made echidna cries because she remembered the good old days with satella since the two were similar in kindness too. and she couldnt bear to see her any longer.
Can’t wait for next weeks cut content
Yo I love this guy. Always look forward to his uploads.
I love these videos so much. Thank you. You are doing a great job editing.
i keep rewatching your videos man your voice is soothin lmao
You are a bloody genius. Love you videos. I look forward every week for your new video. Keep up the good work
Garfiel is gonna be heartbroken when he finds out ram loves someone else
Nah he already knew she loved Roswal as much as he hated it and was bothered by it. He also knows Ram is out of his league of only for the age gap. His feelings are stronger than a crush obviously but have zero expectations of reciprocation
Oh, you're gonna have a field day with today's episode...
Without you I may not be able to fully understand re:zero
This video made me tear up 😢
The trials are just a retelling of A Christmas Carol: face the past, present, and future
Yeah but I bet the Christmas Carol didn't make you live the aftermath of all of your deaths lmao
@@4orinrin well.... about that. Didn't the future one shows the funeral?
@@danielcharles4431 Well that's one singular death lmao
@@4orinrin Just imagine Scrooge with RBD, then again I'm pretty sure he'll be the Archbishop of Greed in the Re:Zero universe.

Today ep was literally fire and amazing and very sad at the end
I wait until tonight, smoke a bowl and watch ReZero, Wednesday’s and my favorites
I hate it when your videos end😭i want to watch and hear more!
How do you stand just out of range of the mirror's reflection? 😂
Set rendering distance for raytraced reflections to low
the sunlight. at a certain distance and angle, the mirror reflects sunglight, so you can't see it. but if you walk closer, then the sun isn't reflecting at you anymore, and you will be able to see the mirror properly
the viewing angle, it will reflect at a 45 deg angle but you will not see yourself (unless there is a second mirror)
It's anime's top tier just because you can have deep conversations on why a character makes the statements and feels the way they do.
"Hey, you, you're finally awake."
Skyrim was quite a zen garden for me, but then being able to get around people like you did in the game would just be the trick.
That's rather lighthearted for this series
My mans quick wit it 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This scene was beautiful
Nice to know about the Emilia and her reflection part.
Thanks for everything you do
I don't understand why so many people think that Minerva is her mother. Also good to note that Minerva made a promise to Emilia's mother, to not to tell Emilia about her mother, which also supports my theory.
duh, its babby's first red herring
her mother might be Satella herself, since the witches care about her (which is not the same as the Witch of Envy), and people also often called Emilia the witch's descendant in her memories so it might be that.
@@Nick-nb2oz that wouldn't work genetically since Satella is also a half-elf much like Emilia
ya still think that after today's episode? she literally teared up when she said fortuna was her mother. ruclips.net/video/7vwcV_c0nxk/видео.html
@@maximusprimal3990 nevertheless she might still be Satella's descendant even if she's not her daughter. Since she was called that multiple times
That explains the episode title. I felt like it had a deeper mean that I was aware of.
great ep sam
I understood that her jump at the end signified her overcoming an unwillingness to see herself as she is now, but yeah I had no idea it was in reference to her overall trauma and not just tied to feelings towards her parents.
Emilia is the Wich of envie

IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Theory: What if Emilia's parents were the King and Queen of Lugunica from 100 years ago?
