    Thank you SO MUCH! Proper panic attacks with bad hyperventilation are very rare for me but as a med student and paramedic i know when the hands cramp up and the face starts to tingle it’s a bit unrealistic to get yourself out of it (especially when you live alone…) this video is so helpful especially because it’s guided and longer that a few minutes…. Really! thank you so much… cause this panic attack was about to escalate 🤍

    This is honestly veeery relaxing to just sit and listen to. I’ve suffered with generalized anxiety for years, and listening to breathing exercises like these really help in the long run.
    Something about the voice relaxes me, and makes me want to slip into a trance-like state.

      I have gad and I never knew u had it since I was a kid until somatic synthoms got me going to the psychiatric. Now I'm taking medication is not working yet. I know even when I'm happy in always worried but at least I was happy. Right now I'm just Inna set back and for me with gad u are way more vunlerable than a normal person. How is it going ? Does this even heal without meds idk

      @@KatiaKatiusha-rp5dk I don't take meds for generalized anxiety. I do have things that help me cope, which may be a better method. I have weighted stuffed animals called, Moon Pals, and they've helped me sooo much with my anxiety. I also have fidget toys that I take to work with me, so I can have something to play with in my hands, and that seems to help. I also listen to relaxing videos at night and drink soothing teas. They're all great remedies for anxiety relief. Unfortunately, once you start experiencing anxiety, you end up dealing with it for the rest of your life.
      I've even had panic attacks before, and I don't wish them on ANYBODY. I'm not sure if you've ever had them, but they're *very* scary..
      Right now, I'm doing alright, and I hope you're doing okay too. I highly recommend looking into weighted things like blankets and stuffed animals, because they DO help you to feel calm. I also recommend the soothing teas, as they too help lower anxiety. You can also look into foods that you may want to consider eating and not eating. Watching informational videos on how to deal with anxiety may be beneficial to you too. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck on your journey to feeling better :)

    What is the rationale behind breathing out through pursed lips ? Does it go along with the mechanism involved in breathing really? Don't we use lungs to inhale and exhale more favorably? The authors of the book, "WHY WE Breathe?" and "oxygen Advantage" talks about the benefits of breathing out too through nose, when it comes to managing anxiety and stress. Their justification is understandable and makes sense.
    I haven't seen a scientific literature and robust study that explains the real reasons (based on the physiology and anatomy) that gives a good rationale why we breathe through mouth for relaxation... Particularly, when it comes to relaxation. Old psychology books says "breathing out" through mouth but doesn't explain mechanism involved in it> This is very different from the "Physiological Sigh" explained by DR Andrew Huberman, where why we breathe out through mouth makes sense. But for belly breathing (diaphragmic breathing), exhaling through mouth is quite suspicious based on the research conducted on the concept of Oxygen/Co2 ratio?
    Please provide research that shows why we "breathe out" through mouth in the above context and the mechanism involved?

      It just makes you breathe slower which is helpful if you're having a panic attack

      I don't have much experience with tinnitus, but in general, some people find guided relaxation exercises helpful, some don't, so I would say try it and see if it helps, or try ruclips.net/video/JLOG-P8MrMU/видео.html

    What are you supposed to do with the remainder of breath inside your stomach? If I hold it in, I become more anxious. It takes me about 30 seconds to get rid of all my breath

    • @SelfHelpToons
      @SelfHelpToons  5 месяцев назад +2

      Since people breathe at different rates, the pacing in this video isn't going to suit everyone. This was originally a much shorter video to help slow down breathing during a panic attack, so the pace is geared towards slowing down the breath of someone whose heart rate is racing and feels like they might hyperventilate. I had some requests for a longer version from people who wanted to use it to fall asleep.
      If your exhale is 30 seconds long, the guided breathing in this video isn't going to suit you, as there's no reason to inhale again until you finish exhaling or to try to speed up your breathing to match the guided instructions.
      I breathe much slower than this when I'm relaxed, and if I want to follow my breath I'll often measure my breathing by counting in my mind throughout the duration of each breath in and each breath out. My counting will be a lot slower, and we'll go up as high as it takes for me to fully breathe in and fully breathe out.
