This the first Chinese drama of the year I haven’t pressed “fast forward” while watching. The story and cast is doing an excellent job! Tan JianCi really shines in this drama. Yangzi acting is stepping up a notch in this drama.
@@littleblue365 I'm going to go check out that one. Tan JianCi already made an impression on me with his role of CaoPi in "Secret of the Three Kingdoms." Thanks for the recommendation.
I enjoy the acting and directing..the plot flow nicely (although in the some episodes it kinda slow..hmm..they still have many episodes to go lol).. and I love all of the lead❤❤❤ avoiding heart break, i make my mind to read the comment of who will get the FL in the end (the thing that rarely I am doing when watching a battle of love drama)..and even I am not the big fans of the actor but their chemistry and the scene make my heart racing..fiuuhh I am relieved already
I'm obsessed with TJC's acting here. His character Xiang Liu just captivated many!! The way he moves when fighting, the way he carries himself, his micro expression.. 😍 he looks so gorgeous with the silver hair
I couldn't agree more!! I live the scene where she says she has to do something with her brother and can't go out wirh him. The instant rage that he projects through his eyes is amazing! You can see the emotions drastically change with just his eyes!! Haven't seen many actors do that w/o using the rest of their face for expression!!
@@CasandraRAYes, that moment!!😃 Acting masterpiece!❤️ I was watching the episode with my mom and the second he did that with his eyes I said, 'I bet Xiao Yao is now scared he's gonna bite her on the neck!', and the second I said it Xiao Yao pressed a hand to her neck, haha, we had a good laugh!😂
i love that you also love xiang liu! he's my favorite both in the novel and the drama. to be honest, i've only heard of tan jianci but never what he can do in terms of acting. i've seen people praise him for his acting skills and that's about that because i've never seen a drama of his. i was pleasantly surprised to see his performance of xiang liu. he's SOOOOOO good. he exceeded my expectations. it's evident that he really understood the character xiang liu. i can't imagine another actor playing that white haired white robed nine-heads xiang liu. he's made for the role and he definitely deserves all the praise. he gained a new fan in me.
@kwntrjch…. about TJC you can look up three dramas. Secret of three kingdoms, Under the skin, Court lady. He played very well. I liked the role he played in the Under the Skin most even though I wasn’t modern drama person n I became a fan.😎
@@tinthaung7118 i just finished watching under the skin and it's incredibly good. shen yi is such a cutie 😭😭 i'll check out the dramas you mentioned. thanks!
TJC is terrific! I just saw him in Secret Of The Three Kingdoms and had already seen him in Under The Skin. When I saw him in Under The Skin I was blown away and searched for his other dramas where I could see him maturing each drama. This performance is a culmination of his past work experience cause he is terrific! I can’t wait for the second season. Take care💃🏽
@@bellabermudas I’m glad you enjoy TJC in other dramas. In …Lost you forever …make up + silver hair n mask …make him stand out handsome sad bad boy. He played costume dramas three times n he didn’t get the girl/ lady he loved 😓
I'm biased before watching Lost You Forever. I knew Tan Jianci was a good actor so I expected him to excel but he managed to blow my expectation. He is very convincing as the cruel demon and shows softness in a split second when his guard is down. His microexpression is terrific. Oh, how he can act with his eyes. I like it when the camera has a close-up of his face. Anyways, I think the whole cast is excellent and I am enjoying this drama.
Yang Zi is perfect here. That scene where she has her palms caned and she sees Nian's mother and thinks it's her mom? I had my heart in my throat and tears in my eyes. She matured as an actress so well. I love each episode. ❤ and yes, the demon ML is the best, but he keeps doing everything to turn her away from him. Tushan Jing is the worst, and her cousin is a total psycho. 😂
Yang Zi is not one of my fav Chinese actresses, because she usually plays one typical type of female lead role. But this series and this role definitely changed that a little. Yes, especially that scene where she thought she saw her mom alive again. 🥲 I cried so much during that scene seeing how her cousin tries to restrain her too.
I’m by Ep 36 already hoping the S2 will come soon. For me Yang Zi was a welcome surprise, much better than what I expected from her. I was already a fan of Tan Jianci, but now I’m in love! His acting is superbe, magnificent. His micro expressions convey every emotion he wants to transmit, his stance, his voice, the movements in his fighting scenes, the mood changes in his dual role. Unforgettable! I have no criticism about the rest of the cast, it’s just that JCT is too good. Hoping for a happy finale and more main lead roles for him.
I'm really obsessed with Tan Jianci's character Xiang Liu. I already know at some point he's gonna be sacrificed. Their chemistry is like perfect. Tan Jianci as silver hair 9 headed demon is charismatic.
It feels so good to know that Xiang Liu is the most interesting guy in the drama for AvenueX 😂 he's my favorite male character in the drama and I love his scenes!
Isn't this apparently a tragic drama? I keep seeing people who have apparently read the source material dreading the ending of the story. I planned on watching the drama myself but I stopped myself because of those comments.
@@svyatoslavrurikovich8831 apparently Tan jianci role dies in the end so if your not into that cp then it's going to be fine the FL gets her happy ending
@@svyatoslavrurikovich8831I mean, with an English title like Lost You Forever, tragedy is basically to be expected lol. The original Chinese title has a different meaning, but it also has melancholy undertones (something along the lines of eternal yearning/longing) The author of the original novel is known for writing epic and tragic romances, as well as brutally killing off male love interests... In one of them, the FL is forced to have an abortion against her will by the 2nd ML after the ML dies (to be fair, she likely would have been assassinated by a political rival otherwise if she had the baby). And then the 2nd ML is killed, leaving the FL to wander the world alone... It's like avenuex says, many of these FLs truly would be better off living in ignorant bliss without these messy MLs 😂😭
Yang Zi and Tan Jian Ci had the best chemistry. I mean while I was watching S1 I couldn’t help but think that these two are the actual lovers. Xiang Liu is a complicated character but his love for Xiao Yao is so genuine. He knows that he can’t be with her but still does everything in his power to help her, to make her happy, even if that means letting her go. I’m so touched by his story and definitely want to watch till the end ❤
Yangzi nailed episode 15. The scene where she saw the mother and revealed herself broke me to tears. That’s an award worthy performance. The CGI is very impressive. Tan Jianci is doing a great job 👏
Xiao Yao likes freedom but what she wants the most is someone who will put her first above everything else and to accompany her long life as she is afraid of being alone.
I’m really happy you reviewed this, it’s been so difficult for me to find a drama that’s in my favorite genre (historical fantasy romance) which I considered truly epic such as 10 miles of peach blossoms/ashes of love (or more recently: alchemy of souls & love between fairy) and this drama finally tics every box as the EPIC sort drama that only happens every few years and is so good you watch it more than once. I’m on episode 18 already and it’s been amazing every step of the way.
@@kathleenmarie2024A lot of people didn’t like that drama but I enjoyed tremendously. The chemistry between the ML and Fl was lovely to watch. I haven’t seen the ML as often cause he’s from Taiwan I believe. My intro to Cdramas was Eternal Love. What’s ALP?? Take care💃🏽
Yang Zi is the one who brings me to this drama... Then I fall in love with Tan JianCi dual character acting, She is always my bias as I know I would be crying if she cry and she really has good ad-lib for being naturally funny which makes me laugh. Hopefully, the ending will not be too sadistic to the point she better just doesn't meet all of them like what you thinking hahahahhahaa
Years after reading this novel by tonghua, i was still sad n suffered by one character missing in the end, my most fav " XL" , (the most tragic scene in the epilogue). Yes i agree she didnt need them ( 3 guys) but storyline needed them to get it flows.. am enjoying most the scenes between Yangzi n TanJianCi, both have the most interesting chemistry, deep connections, acts, banter n vibes ..yes TJC really shines ..
I am not a regular C drama watcher and I guess reviews of Lost You Forever got viral and somehow captured my attention. I’m so glad I watched it. I think all 4 leads did their roles well and none were childish or annoying. I first watched Tan Jianci on Winter Begonia and I thought this “new” actor looks pretty pleasant and acted his part very well. There was tragedy and there was some humor. I recognized him in Xiang Liu and I am happy he has come so far! I had no idea he has acted in so many dramas and also a regular in a Chinese variety show. It is his turn to shine and am glad he is being recognized.
I’ve watched 16 eps and currently obsessed with this drama. I came to watch Yang Zi and Tan Jian Ci but fall in love with Deng Wei🤣 I personally think all main leads act really well. The story cgi and others are perfect for me so far👏🏼👏🏼 Edit: 22 eps in and I kinda ship xiaoyao with fangfeng bin 🤣
Tbh i only feels like theres two ml which is jing and xiang liu, xiang liu is totally second lead vibes with his sacrifices and he is the most interesting among all male leads in the drama. Visual and acting wise tan jianchi and yang zi totally build the best chemistry and life to their character ❤️🧡
i've actually been waiting for your review cause i'm already so invested with the drama. The female lead is actually what makes me so invested in this, her charactar is so interesting for a xianxia drama. AND XIANG LIU he's my favorite too
I’ve been dropping dramas left and right after watching a few episodes but this drama got me hooked and I’m also waiting for new episodes each day like you are haha
Hi, it’s been awhile since I have seen your videos or any CDramas. Based on this videos I decided to watch “Lost You Forever” I’m on ep 26, and I am enjoying the drama. Yang Zi is superb in this role. TJC is the best of the males IMO.
Lost You Forever is a character driven plot, so the story moves based on the decisions of the characters. You are right, her life is was great until the three guys shows up, but it was her decisions that also lead to her meeting them. 😂
And if they hadn’t shown up, the drama wouldn’t be all that interesting. 😂. She’d just be living her happy, simple life in her happy, simple village. Not much fodder for viewers. lol.
7:01 I agree! YangZi is the perfect choice actress to play of this beautiful story drama. There are many scenes especially with Wangyi moves my tears to flow unconsciously and holds so many goosebumps and i love to watch it several times.
I am loving this drama so far too. I honestly don't know which guy to root for, which I consider to be a good thing, considering how long the series is. As far as 'eye candy' goes, I am very happy, however. I am waiting for the high angst to begin.
Loving Lost You Forever. I am enjoying the funky, clunky sets design, there is a certain charm to the whole village. In fact when they go to the "palace" I keep longing for the village and and for the female lead to say "screw this all, I just want to return to the village". The FL interactions with the sea demon are the most interesting and her conversations with him the most deep and philosophical. So far Tan Jianci is the most charismatic and the best chemistry is the best between the two of them. All of the leads are so multidimensional, no one is pure good or evil, making it soo intriguing. If this drama was complete I feel I would be binge watching, so thankfully I am forced to savor and enjoy it at a lovely pace. Only problem I fear with such complex characters I am in store for alot of hearbreak.
Are you a musician? I see in the background you have some instruments. As for the drama she is the perfect actress bc it requires so much range. I can’t really see anyone else playing the role. The set is similar to Lord of the Rings
I agree with Avenue X about the lack of jarring transitions between fake and real. That’s always bugged me a bit-but I didn’t realize until she pointed it out why that was. I think I might prefer all fake versus trying to make not-very-believable transitions between the two.
Best drama of the year Lost You Forever. And this is a strech coming from someone who didn’t like Yang Zi acting.Well ,I changed my mind, she is perfect in this role (without her stereotype of cuties, ott annoying ). The male leads are dreamy , my favorite is Tan Jianci.Compared to the other talked about shows such as The longest promise, The misterious casebook , The Legend of Anle, this one is way more enjoyable!
Totally agreed. I cannot stand Yang Zi in the past. I did not watch Ashes of Love because I can't stand her acting. But in lost You Forever, she's pretty good.
Really?!!! There’s no comparison! This drama Lost You Forever is well above Longest Promise and Anle in my opinion. Both dramas have decent actors but they didn’t have the opportunity to participate in this superbly written and directed drama. LYF has pulled the audience into the drama so much so that we can’t wait to see the second half. Whereas, when the Longest Promise and Anle were finished I wasn’t sad to see them end. This drama has me hooked just like Love Like The Galaxy, Who Rules The World, Joy of Life etc. All terrific dramas. Take care💃🏽
I recommend giving Ashes of Love a second chance. I was really hooked into the story starting at Ep 18 when FL and ML went to mortal realm for their tribulation. There is a lot of chemistry, romance and angst starting from that point onwards, and both FL and ML's acting felt genuine enough to convince me of their love for each other throughout the rest of the story. The first 18 episodes the FL plays the typical cute, naive and carefree girl. But after the mortal realm tribulation (and a tragic event when they return to heaven), she becomes much more serious, heartbroken and yet determined -- and this is where Yang Zi's acting really shined.
I knew AvenueX would like this drama even though she did not have high hopes for it in the beginning. I think it Will definitely win the drama of the summer wars almost likely best drama of 2023.
OK, you've convinced me. I've been tossing up whether to embark on this drama as there are too many options, but after your comments, I'll give it a go. Thanks again for what you do to guide me through Chinese drama land.
...For me the actor who played Cang Xuan is the real deal of the drama .Zhang Wan Yi blown me so far --To be able to portray such very complex character is a impressive enough--Cang Xuan longing gazes to XY, his uncalled jealousy, the pretentious smile when facing the other ML,to this goody-good two shoes when facing XiaoYao but changes to sly when plotting something against his eniemies, the maniacal smile while torturing who crossed his line and lastly his demented thirst of power.Cang Xuan is the most layered character among the ML.We can see and understand how his past and background shaped who he is ---a hostage/exiled prince to this unhinged young man thirsty for power in order to protect the FL .His love affair to the FL is also the most complicated and painful. It's ironic how his rise to power made him lose the woman he always longed .The throne he always wanted required him the woman he loves.I remember General Park in Scarlet Heart Ryeo when WangSo asked his help to overthrow his king brother ."That chair will make and ask you to throw eveything. Before I'll let you sit on that throne.I want to see who will you throw first this time for that dirty chair. So who will it be?"Then WangSo hurt Hae Soo,made her his concubine then later married another for the sake of maintaining power pleasing his ministers.Cang Xuan though wanted both-power and the woman he loves thus commiting a grave sin that made him lost forever the woman he wanted to protect. So yes I believe the title itself is from Cang Xuan's perspective.
Deserves 3 goldmines...Love it. Can't wait for the next episodes. And the cast is just amazing. Awesome acting! And the 3 leading men are not only good portraying their role but so handsome.
I dived in without high expectations and was assuming this is like any other dramas we've seen before. Lo and behold, one episode in, this drama singlehandedly kicked me out of costume drama rut and now I'm watching this in real-time. Similar to what LFBAD did to me as well. Except this one is very compelling and immersive from the get go. I watched episode 16 just now and I'm still reeling over a few scenes from past episodes. The storytelling, the acting (especially Yangzi omg) and how I liked seeing dirty hem and disheveled hair...like that's so realistic.
While everyone else love Tan Jian ci, I have helplessly fallen in love with jing (deng wei). Help me please. 😅I am now so obsessed with jing. He is really a husband material. He has all characters which I always wanted and looked for like companionship, tenderness, selflessness, understanding, choice me over everything’s, and so much devotion . Such a person will never leave me in real life. How much I want such a lover in real life!
How old are you? Husband material? There is not a woman alive who I know would fall for an indecisive, selfish, white skinny boy body. Most woman desire true men. My 9 year old son had more intelligence, integrity and muscle tone that this actor/character.
@@MarieElenaCambria1 It’s really sad that these “popular” Asian actors tend to all look alike as if this is what the studios demand for huge viewership. Very thin angular faces that when made up with makeup they can easily seem interchangeable. And thin to the point of anorexia. That’s why they bruise so easily. One video showed an injured actor in a wheelchair with practically no calf muscle in his legs.
@@5877user I have read other posts on forums regarding this topic - The lack of manliness in Asian actors. Not only are these young men delicate creatures, this particular series shows a toxic type of love (romance) blooming between FL & (insert gentle indistinguishable Male character) yet on Asian C Drama forums etc, young female viewers are all over this wimpy lil boy body, insecure clingy character raving about him (and this series) because he is "nice".
I can’t believe I was watching TJ in this drama. Can’t even recognize him right away either. What a role he was playing perfectly. This drama surprised me really. Agreed with you AvenueX totally!!!. All eye candies were bonuses for the viewers like us 🥰❤️
The last time I was this excited for a C-drama was when LOVE LIKE THE GALAXY was airing, this may be my favorite drama for 2023. I ship FL with the demon guy so hard - he's so cool and just a bliss to watch.
I did not expect to like this one but my goodness, her acting. And I've really enjoyed the story so far. I definitely agree with the texture of the drama. At first I was like, this feels cheap, but then... it was so consistent that I was ok with it.
I watch this immediately after I finished watching Mysterious Lotus Casebook. I honestly think these two are better than any other fantasy costume drama airing this year. Fingers crossed that they really air the 2nd season this year. I'm not gonna have the pain of endless waiting anymore (*cough* Joy of Life 2).
You hit the nail on the head when you break down how the acting of each character comes across, Yangzi is indeed the perfect person for this role, and the white hair character is interesting in his role, the ML is not connecting almost seems like he doesn't belong in this drama, maybe in other genres he's excellent maybe this isn't for him,but we will see if he improves as more episodes are air keeping an open mind.
I am sooooooo glad you like this drama!!! lol I've loved it from the first episode and I've been experiencing a period of not finding anything worth watching for a while now and you get a sort of desperation and start thinking, "should I watch something I've liked over again?" I was sort of looking forward to Legend Of Anle because I like Liu Yuning but after 3 episodes, I had to admit I was bored to tears - it fell flat as a pancake for me. So Lost You Forever has really saved me from despair this summer. Yang Zi is terrific in this role, I've been so impressed with her performance so far. (I just finished ep,20) I love Tan JianCi in anything and everything I've seen him in, he is unbelievably gorgeous as the brutal dragon demon. Deng Wei is new to me but I think I would probably fall in love with him in a second - his tall elegance is hard to look away from and I think he's probably the only character so far who hasn't physically or mentally tortured poor YZ. Anyway, Hurrah! We're finally on the same page. 🙂
Tan Jianci looks GORGEOUS. He has always been gorgeous and I loved him in Under the Skin but here he just shines. He deserves to get more and more interesting roles.
Maybe I’m not Chinese so I really didn’t saw Zhang Wanyi voice as contemporary person’s voice. I think his voice really suit his character in this drama as ruthless prince😊I really hate his character but also love him❤
I won't complain watching Tan Jian Ci in this series even if it ran to 100 eps. Yeah, I'm objectifying him but seriously, he's gorgeous in both roles. • This drama led me to his other drama..."Under The Skin" which I loved!
Had to wait until I had finished watching the drama to watch your review, but finally managed it. Brilliant as always and you give so much insight to non Mandarin speakers.
THE BEST drama, LOVE it. The characters are all well played and the chemistry of the cast makes this an epic storyline. The triangle of love potentials for the lead female is romantic, explosive, heartwarming, and heart wrenching all at the same time. ALL of the male actors are superb in their portrayals and each character shows up in the FL's life at the appropriate "season". Cannot wait to watch S2.
You must be very very young? There is absolutely no story here. Nothing. Lots of Emo pan shots of crying men. No Chemistry at all. Never once have I fast forward in any Asian drama. This one...I kept throwing up in my mouth. And you think this is acting? FL is fine. Tan Jianci exceptional. ML & M Romantic lead gross me out. My son had more muscle tone on his body at age 9 than this dude. Too many pan shots with LONG repetitive music pieces of the brothers odd creepy love for his sister. Now compare this with a drama like, "The Wolf" or even "love like a Galaxy". Besides, "Triangle" that is just gross. The brother is a part of this. Yuck!
It’s been awhile since I’ve got hooked on a series. I’m trying this thing where I’m keeping myself occupied until more episodes come out lol 😂 I hope they take their time with this drama , and not rushing cause my feelings are so invested! Lol
YESSSS I have been waiting for this review/first impression from Avenuex - it always feels like a small win when Avenuex also likes the show haha. Been absolutely loving this show, it has swept me away on a journey I wasn’t fully ready to embark on it since we can all tell it’s going to be a wild EMOTIONAL roller coaster of a ride 😭😭 but it’s SOOOOO good so far and would highly recommend to anyone hesitating. 10/10 you won’t regret it. Everyone perfectly fits their role/character imo and I too am struggling so hard to fully rally behind one guy to back/choose. They are all actually very unique, multi-dimensional, and strong characters of their own as Avenuex mentioned 😊 lots of eye candy if that is your thing too! Looking forward for the full story to unfold (at least season 1) and to the full review ❤ Also @Avenuex would you consider watching/reviewing “Mysterious Lotus Casebook”?
I love this drama so much and can’t wait for the next episodes. This is a rare historical drama that I don’t get bored or help on skipping parts like some other drama I’ve watched. But for some reason I like all of the male leads and have trouble deciding which time I’m on. I find Xiang liu really attractive. I normally don’t really like fantasy drama but this drama was captivating and I couldn’t stop watching.
This drama is excellent!!! No need to nip pick it. Everyone's doing such an amazing job in their roles I'm blown away!!! I love that it's not perfect, it makes it more real is a funny way. Enjoying every moment. Having attacks waiting for next episode to be released ❤
I don't know how to express my gratitude.... Thank you SO MUCH for this review. I mean, I REALLY wanna watch your LYF first impression but I was hesitant to say that, cuz I didn't bother you, while you enjoy your visit to China after four years!
Reading your commentary again and am now into season 2. The episodes seem short to me but it could be that I feel I don't get enough substance/info in each one, lol. You are so right that she was better off with her nice little life before those three guys came into her life.
I was busy watching Mysterious Lotus Casebook so I wasn't paying attention to this drama until I saw clips of Xiang Liu and I fell in love with him so I decided to watch it 😍 didnt regret it
This was an unexpected great drama so far. I was initially following the Cheng Yi’s drama, then I decided to start this and watch them in tandem. My mind was blown with this one, it’s now leading my watch time over Cheng Yi’s one - Mysterious Lotus Casebook.
I'm really surprised at your comment about Zhang Wanyi's acting. While I'm not fluent in Chinese, I absolutely LOVE the way he enunciates his words. It's perfectly clear and he emotes really well. For me he sounds like his doing Chinese Shakespeare. His voice is a stage actor's dream voice. I didn't know him before this drama, but I feel he has such good "stage presence." And his acting is really good.
They do say single women live longer and heathier lives than married ones, lol! I will watch this, sounds fun. Maybe the guys end up together at the end or something, I've always thought that would be a fun plot twist.
I've been waiting for a drama adaptation for over a decade since I read the novel and so far I'm happy with this version (I know Xiang Liu's fans won't agree 😂) I'm also a Yang Zi fan so I was quite torn between feeling happy to have her helm this and feeling that she has done too many 古偶/仙侠. 😂 but you're right, she is the best fit for this role!
love, love, love this drama. XL's character is a perfect role for him..his looks, attitude and voice. Is his voice dubbed in this drama? ? or his actual voice?
I fast forward romance with Jing, who I believe is a true prick now after finishing this first season. Other than that, I do not fast forward anything else. I've been uncomfortable with Jing since he pulled that sour face on during her coronation as grand Princess.
AGREE! Skinny boy body all the way too. My 9 yr old son had more muscle tone & integrity than this dude. ML - brother is just creepy. FAR too many over the top emo pan shots of the brother crying over his sister who imho demonstrated inappropriate "Love" for his sister. Tan Jianci is the only winner here.
Same with me. Somehow I just got drawn and drawn to him. We are still away to go to see his character growth. So far, I really liked the ep 15 when he had an emotional scene with Yang Zi.
For those of you who haven't - read the novel! It is extraordinary. I absolutely loved most of Lost You Forever and the foremost reason I did is because of the chemistry between Yang Zi and Zhang Wenyi and what he brought to the character. I mean, I liked him in the book and most towards the last third of the novel but in the drama I could hardly keep my eyes of him. Zhang Wenyi really brought a sense of control and presence that made the character noticeable. I know there was a lot of hate as to what Cang Xuan did to Zhao Yao when she was a man (because she was an actual man originally) but that was before he knew it was Zhao Yao and was under the notion that Xiao Liu was keeping information about Zhao Yao from him. As this is concerning immortals, motive is of the essence in all things the characters do and I had no problem forgiving that any more than Zhao Yao had. Of course, there is much to say about things he will do but that's for another time. As most others, I rooted for Xiang Liu in the novel and was very disappointed how they all but erased the importance of the lover's bug as well as how silly and pouty I think they made his character. I couldn't help but think they sacrificed him for the sake of not making it seem the heroine could have several men in her heart at the same time. For the most part, I think the whole obviously fake decor didn't do him any favors either. In terms of casting, I think 17 could have been better cast. The whole point of his character is how kind and devoted (and boring) he is but seeing his status in the world, I think Deng Wei didn't quite bring that quiet presence of power. For now, I'm really looking forward to the second season when all hell will break loose.
I can't wait to see your full review!! I havne't read the novel, but I love it so far! I have mixed feelings with some of the romantic interests, but right now I"m rooting for Dengwei's character. Yes, I totally agree with some of your points, his character is totally luke warm and he's just TOO NICE and I just WISH his character could be more badass. But compared to the other two, HE"S SUCH A GREEN FLAG that I can't ignore it. All in all though, I'm team #IndependentXiaoYao. I absolutely STAN her and her character.
I think that Yang Zi is giving a great performance as well as Tan Jianci. I'm really enjoying the drama. I agree she is better off not knowing the three men. I prefer her adopted family dynamic and would have enjoyed seeing the family develop.
I agree with you. she had a happy little family in 清水镇 and didn’t need to get into all that trouble, but then we won’t have a show then haha. all those men are just trouble.
I also started this show cos of Tan Jianci, but unexpectedly enjoying it way more than I thought. I actually love Deng Wei's character (so far) - he's so soft for the FL ❤❤❤❤
This the first Chinese drama of the year I haven’t pressed “fast forward” while watching. The story and cast is doing an excellent job! Tan JianCi really shines in this drama. Yangzi acting is stepping up a notch in this drama.
You are correct. He will get some major roles soon. He’s blowing up ⬆️

i love that you also love xiang liu! he's my favorite both in the novel and the drama. to be honest, i've only heard of tan jianci but never what he can do in terms of acting. i've seen people praise him for his acting skills and that's about that because i've never seen a drama of his. i was pleasantly surprised to see his performance of xiang liu. he's SOOOOOO good. he exceeded my expectations. it's evident that he really understood the character xiang liu. i can't imagine another actor playing that white haired white robed nine-heads xiang liu. he's made for the role and he definitely deserves all the praise. he gained a new fan in me.
@kwntrjch…. about TJC you can look up three dramas.
I also love his voice for this role.
@SuperKimmie72 yes agree 💯 his voice is so smooth.
I repeat that scene many times as i was full of tears watching that😅.
Please, they just have to cast Yang Zi and Tan JianCi in a period drama as leads.
TanJianci is amazing!! He is shining in this drama lol
I agree!!!!!!!
became a new fan he really fits xiang liu
Who can resist a 9 headed monster that can dance ballroom? Tan Jianci has class! ruclips.net/video/0ma0vUJ-QGw/видео.html
If only winner is king can be realised
tho i hate the character for his abuse, i must admit the actor is amazing.
Yangzi is great in this drama i cant think any one else doing her job. She acted so well especially in epidode 15
I'm really obsessed with Tan Jianci's character Xiang Liu. I already know at some point he's gonna be sacrificed. Their chemistry is like perfect. Tan Jianci as silver hair 9 headed demon is charismatic.
spoilers
It feels so good to know that Xiang Liu is the most interesting guy in the drama for AvenueX 😂 he's my favorite male character in the drama and I love his scenes!
Yup, he truly heats up the screen!
Much much better than I thought it would be! Haven't been this into a drama for awhile.
The original Chinese title has a different meaning, but it also has melancholy undertones (something along the lines of eternal yearning/longing)
The author of the original novel is known for writing epic and tragic romances, as well as brutally killing off male love interests...
@@nezumin_c Good to know. That has solidified my decision not to watch this drama then.
I’m so touched by his story and definitely want to watch till the end ❤
but why cant he be with her?
Yangzi nailed episode 15. The scene where she saw the mother and revealed herself broke me to tears. That’s an award worthy performance.
The CGI is very impressive. Tan Jianci is doing a great job 👏
Xiao Yao likes freedom but what she wants the most is someone who will put her first above everything else and to accompany her long life as she is afraid of being alone.
I'm obsessed with this drama especially Xiang Liu 😍After Till The End of The Moon Tantai Jin i found my new crush haha 😝
Legend of Fuyao was my gateway drug into Asian dramaland. Still watch it once a year. :D
Princess Agents is another one that I fancy as much as this drama.
@@annekai
ALP is one of my FAVORITES!!!
Take care💃🏽
My gateway was Ice Fantasy!:D
Yang Zi is the one who brings me to this drama... Then I fall in love with Tan JianCi dual character acting, She is always my bias as I know I would be crying if she cry and she really has good ad-lib for being naturally funny which makes me laugh. Hopefully, the ending will not be too sadistic to the point she better just doesn't meet all of them like what you thinking hahahahhahaa
Yang Zi really is the perfect choice for this role❤❤❤

The story cgi and others are perfect for me so far👏🏼👏🏼
Edit: 22 eps in and I kinda ship xiaoyao with fangfeng bin 🤣
Deng Wei is great in Miss the Dragon. (My favorite) but I'm loving this one for sure
AND XIANG LIU he's my favorite too
Agree with everything you said here! And yes Xiang Liu is the most interesting ML character so far!
Yes Yang Zi was the best choice! The male actors are doing a good job also, especially Tan Jian Ci.
Xiang Liu I totally love him. Unfortunately the FL don’t chose him 😭😭
This video needs a follow up 😂❤
All leads are doing amazing job, casting choices are on point. This is best work by Yang Zi
I watched this drama for Yang Zi n started to ❤ Deng wei as well he's just so handsome ❤❤❤
The village is such a Disney magic forest place. It gives me those vibes, better than natural setting
I agree with Avenue X about the lack of jarring transitions between fake and real. That’s always bugged me a bit-but I didn’t realize until she pointed it out why that was. I think I might prefer all fake versus trying to make not-very-believable transitions between the two.
The novel the character xiang liu is my favorite ❤️ I just knew whoever played him would def outshine the rest of the male hehe
Yang Zi would be up for Best Lead Actress nominations thru this drama. Happy for her !
I thought the same...but it's really a good drama till now.
...For me the actor who played Cang Xuan is the real deal of the drama .Zhang Wan Yi blown me so far --To be able to portray such very complex character is a impressive enough--Cang Xuan longing gazes to XY, his uncalled jealousy, the pretentious smile when facing the other ML,to this goody-good two shoes when facing XiaoYao but changes to sly when plotting something against his eniemies, the maniacal smile while torturing who crossed his line and lastly his demented thirst of power.Cang Xuan is the most layered character among the ML.We can see and understand how his past and background shaped who he is ---a hostage/exiled prince to this unhinged young man thirsty for power in order to protect the FL .His love affair to the FL is also the most complicated and painful.
Perfect narration 💯
Wow 😯 it’s sad 😢
Me tooo. I second and third what you described. The scenes where he told his past stories, it is always very touching.
He's a very good actor
Hallo, which drama did you mean by FLBAD?
@@assom4444 I just noticed I butchered the abbreviation. It's LBFAD / Love Between Fairy and Devil.

It’s really sad that these “popular”
Asian actors tend to all look alike as if this is what the studios demand for huge viewership.
Love Jing!! ❤
Love Tushan Jing !!! So tall, handsome & elegant !
She has develope a very mature acting, i'm enjoying her work en this drama. No more bubble stupid girl characters for her.
Totally agree

TJS seems sweet on the surface but he's very cunning. Which is befitting of a nine tail fox 🤭
i’m so glad you’re doing a review on this because in my opinion its by far the best that i’ve seen in the long time.
Tan Jianci is such a good actor. He carries the show on several scenes tbh😂
I started reading the English translated online novel and so far they have used so much dialogue from the novel in the drama. Love that
Tan Jianci looks GORGEOUS.
Excellent drama. Well done. Love all the leads and support characters.
Had to wait until I had finished watching the drama to watch your review, but finally managed it. Brilliant as always and you give so much insight to non Mandarin speakers.
I was watching this and was telling myself, Ms. X will like this. Tian Jianci is a plus
Yuck!

Looking forward for the full story to unfold (at least season 1) and to the full review ❤
Also @Avenuex would you consider watching/reviewing “Mysterious Lotus Casebook”?
Me too! Now that I’ve got it I’m not disappointed by Avenue’s unbiased work.
I am eager to see your final review on this!
I ship XiaoYao and Jing. But Cang Xuan acting is the best in this series. I'm becoming his fan.
Reading your commentary again and am now into season 2. The episodes seem short to me but it could be that I feel I don't get enough substance/info in each one, lol. You are so right that she was better off with her nice little life before those three guys came into her life.

When you said in a previous video the summer king wasn't here yet... well it looks like this one is it!
It's first C-drama I watched this year and enjoying it so much. I watched up to ep.18 cant wait for more ep.
TJC is the reason I am watching too. His acting always draws me in.
Thank you so much for this information and inputs. I only watch Yang Zi drama and so far this maybe one of my favorite ❤❤ thanks 🙏
Thanks for the review. Finished LYF S1. Now I’m really anxious to see S2.
I was busy watching Mysterious Lotus Casebook so I wasn't paying attention to this drama until I saw clips of Xiang Liu and I fell in love with him so I decided to watch it 😍 didnt regret it
Yang Zi and Tan Jianci m are great together in this drama. Good story so far
If you have a minute to explain, I'd be happy to hear why Xian Liu's fans won't be happy with this screen adaptation. I haven't read the novel.:)
Have a good vacation! Thanks for keep updating your drama reviews. You outputs are the most reliable source for my drama picks
It's so unfortunate that no one is talking about Deng Wei. He is so good looking as Seventeen. He is very convincing in that role.
He’s boring
TianJianCi totally stole the show! I like his character.
Tanjianci is doing an excellent job, marvelous! 😊❤
love, love,love this drama.
XL's character is a perfect role for him..his looks, attitude and voice. Is his voice dubbed in this drama? ? or his actual voice?
his actual voice 😊
I fast forward romance with Jing, who I believe is a true prick now after finishing this first season. Other than that, I do not fast forward anything else.
I've been uncomfortable with Jing since he pulled that sour face on during her coronation as grand Princess.
AGREE! Skinny boy body all the way too. My 9 yr old son had more muscle tone & integrity than this dude. ML - brother is just creepy. FAR too many over the top emo pan shots of the brother crying over his sister who imho demonstrated inappropriate "Love" for his sister. Tan Jianci is the only winner here.
I haven’t watched ZWY before. For me, he is really nailing the role though.
Welcome back home, AvenueX.
I will definitely look at this drama. it sounds like an interesting one.
Till the end of the and lost you for ever are the best in 2023
I think that Yang Zi is giving a great performance as well as Tan Jianci.
