  • The truth is out!! I know Alicent was gagged as hell... My heart kinda breaks for this relationship though cause I want them to work SO BAD, but I just don't think it's possible anymore. Rhaenys, Baela, Rhaena, I love y'all. Daemon's dream???? Milly cameo??? (loved every second)

The misunderstanding is for Alicent's character only really. The war was going to happen regardless. We learn last episode that Otto never believed Viserys changed his mind. Otto and the council were going to take the throne anyway, it just helped them a bit that Alicent claimed the King changed his mind. And you said it yourself earlier in this episode that they aren't listening to Alicent. Even if she told them now that she was wrong it's not like Aegon is just going to abdicate the throne to Rhaenyra. At least Alicent let her go at the end, she could have had her captured or killed.

5:22 We've known she's had a brother since season 1 episode 1 when Daemon unhorsed him in the tourney.
8:50 I've watched a dozen reactions to this episode and you're the first person to recognise the barmaid. Her name is Dyana and she was the serving girl Aegon r*ped in S1E8.
16:12 It literally is too late. You commented earlier during the small council scene how nobody was listening to her. Alicent saying oops I made a mistake will do nothing to stop Cole, Aegon or Aemond.

Alicent is right in a way though; it is far to late to stop what is coming. Rhaenyra doesn't know that the night Viserys died almost the entire small council revealed to Alicent they had been plotting to put Aegon on the thrown for a long while. What could Alicent do at this stage now to stop those councilors and her family from carrying on the war? Not that Rhaenyra is wrong though; she is right to try and stop it all (and with such a brave plan)...just a tragedy she doesn't know exactly how late in the day this plan was

At the end I agree Alicent should’ve at least said my bad or something, but with Otto gone and Aegon falling in love with the attention/power, there’s no way she could convince him to submit to Rhaenyra. Maybe a Great Council where the Lords choose who they want to lead, similar to how Viserys got the throne over Rhaenys in the first episode would’ve been an option to end the war peacefully, but given the sexism in Westeros I’m not sure Rhaenyra would’ve been satisfied with it.
I think she could’ve stopped it after Viserys died since Aegon didn’t really want to be king and she had quite a big role in convincing him/Cole/Aemond about it and it’d be much more difficult for Otto to convince him. She also had more power at that time as Queen rather than Queen mother

if you actually think Alicent is saying she doesn't realize Visyrs wasn't talking about her son your not getting what Alicent is saying, she's saying there's been no mistake because there is no changing this, she has no power now, Otto is no longer hand no one listens to her, and even if she could convince Aegon to step down there is no way Rhaenyra politically could do anything with them other than either execute Aegon, Aemond, Otto, and Daeron as traitors or at best send them to the wall. You can't just tell the small folk, well there was a little oopsies and we kinda got confused about who was in charge.

Even if Alicent had not misheard Viserys, she never would have opposed Otto's plan and maybe could have justified it to herself because most of Rhaenyra's children were not legitimate at the time. 😢 that moment of realization from Alicent was BEAUTIFUL tho. Hahaha 😂 Fire and Blood Rhaenyra!
ETA: I do think it matters to Rhaenyra that Alicent made an honest mistake in the beginning. And no one is going to "let" you have ultimate power. You have to cement that power by playing the Game of Thones well. Viserys did not. Rhaenyra did not... leading up to the coronation.
Now Rhaenyra has no doubt that she is the rightful Queen. Aegon is on the throne because of a mistake and a scheme.

5:30 Daemon beat the brother at jousting playing dirty in the first episode of season 1, asked for Alicent’s favor too cause he wanted to insult Otto if you remember that - guess the brother just follows Cristian’s skincare routine to not age though lol

It was a different actor, so not recognizing Freddie Fox is understandable. Doesn't explain the fair skin though, but both the actor and the character are (around) 35 at this point, so in the tournament he should have been under 10. In other words, the timelines don't work out. I guess they made the character a little older on the show?

Turns out that Rhaenyra is a shockingly weak and incompetent Queen. Does she even want the throne?

It's too late even if alicent wanted to she has no power she is the Queen mother and ageon, and the others won't listen to her anyway and even if alicent didn't say Viserys wanted her son to be king it wouldn't have mattered they were all ways going to put ageon on the throne they have spent years planning it alicent saying what she said did nothing but make it easier
