That animation was probably referenced directly from real life, judging by how smooth and perfect it is
@Excelsior thats wrong . it was not rotoscoped at all . it was all the skill of the animator. go check Hiroyuki Okiura works for example.
I guess for the un trained eyes it might seem like it was rotoscoped but it was not.

Redline really mastered how to walk in style at 2:01. Cowboy bebop also did an amazing job at creating such realistic characters with relatively simple shapes

It always fascinates me how such a simple animation as walking can show so much character and emotion through a skilled animator.
With the first one You know someone’s a badass when you can tell exactly who they are by their feet and their walk. In this case spike Spiegel
umm never knew walking could be so aesthetic
Currently working on an walking animation and it's kicking my ass. I will say however that now that I'm on my third attempt I can see steady improvement. I guess that's to be expected after drawing it frame by frame repetitively for so long. These sakuga videos are extremely helpful and makes me wonder just how much the animators had to practice In order to get as good as they are.
