Hey guys!!! Its your good buddy, Uncle Ben Eller, the guy who told ya about Stuff Gojira Does.... and now i'm about to tell you what they just did, which is release a SICK new single, Another World, and its probably the best thing to happen in 2020 so far! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!
I loved the tune as i listened to it over my morning coffee, and immediately set about learning it, so now i'm here to share a complete lesson with you guys on how to play every riff in the song. Its in D standard tuning DGCFAD, and i'm using my Dunable Cyclops through the Axe FX 3. No DOD Grunge pedal was used in the making of this video, as always.
This tune only has a handful of riffs in it, and they're a great triplet workout to help you exercise those hammer ons and pull offs! Its a hoot AND a holler!

Yea, it sounds more complicated in actual track but he just transcribed it after hearing it. He just jumped right on it as soon as it dropped.

@@dirklives1168 Yeah, overall this is a fairly simplistic song to learn. For anyone who tends to use their ear to learn songs, you shouldn't have much trouble figuring this one out.
Gojira are like the metal Beatles. They write simple stuff, perfectly.

I don't know why, but this song reminds me of Global Warming. The intro groove for both songs sounds so similar to my ears.
Also the tone matches, both very sad songs about the environment and how we are killing our planet.

Hey Ben, thanks for another awesome lesson. I have an observation on the muting pattern for the intro/chorus riff. It sounds to me like the notes played on the D string are unmuted, while the notes on the A string are muted. So the muting pattern for your picking hand is lift-rest-lift rest and so on. That’s how I’ve tweaked it anyway. Do you agree or no? Does that even make sense? Lol. Love your videos man, I’ve recently been learning your mastodon fingerstyle series cos I just love mastodon. I'm just gonna give you my two cents on the main riff: I think what Joe and Christian play on the 4th string is indeed a hammer-on/pull-off but without palm mute. Notice how fluid it sounds and then in the 5th string you can hear the palm mute kind of controlling the noise in a way.
