今回もご視聴誠にありがとうございます。
今回はエボリューションスポーツに多い不具合、その名も『ガッチャン現象』の原因と修理を動画にアップしました。
特に2000年～2003年のスポーツスターに多く出やすい不具合です。
原因としては、ギアそのものの形状、シフトチェンジシステムの構造の問題、操作方法などなど、いろいろな原因が絡んでおり、ギアを変えただけでは完治は難しいです。
ギアが非常に高く、工賃まで含めると、18万円ほどになります。
状態によっては交換しなくて済む場合もあるので、一概には言えませんが、それでも高額な修理になりますので、覚悟は必要です…
どのような修理方法なのか、当店での方法になりますので、お店によって修理方法と対策は異なると思います。参考になれば幸いです。

This time, I uploaded a video on the cause and repair of a common problem with the Evolution Sport, the "gachan phenomenon".
This phenomenon is a common problem with Evolution Sportsters, especially the models from 2000 to 2003.
It can be caused by a combination of factors, including the shape of the gear itself, problems with the structure of the gearshift, and problems with the way it is operated, making it difficult to completely fix the problem by simply replacing the gear.
Gears are very expensive, costing about 180,000 yen including labor.
Depending on the condition of the gears, it may not be necessary to replace them, so it is difficult to say for sure, but it is still an expensive repair, so you need to be prepared....

I wanna say thank you so much many times. I have replaced pair of first gear, drilled another hole in arm lever and wow, how easy to find neutral, no more jerks, smooth ride. I like it a lot. Best wishes from Russia.

I have a 1990 XL. The 3rd gear broke and blew out the back of the engine case. My shop is a Knucklehead to Shovelhead specialist so I cut the gearbox off the back of the Sportster engine and replaced with a Shovelhead gearbox.... I had to modify the frame etc. Now i have a Shov-ster haha

以前Infinityさんにて、同様に2002年式883のガッチャン現象修理して頂き、3年程乗ってますがそれ以降何事もなくギアシフト出来ております。その節はありがとうございました。おかげさまで恐怖なく乗れてます。自分ではなかなかできる修理ではないですが、わかりやすく見入ってしまいますね。今後の似たような作業の参考になります！！

Hello and thank you for the video. I have a question, what are the size and dimensions of the e clip you used as a replacement? It seems like the stock clip that hold the Detent plate is a point of failure, what did you use as a replacement? Thanks from arizona
I forget the size of this clip, but I prepared the clip first and machined the shaft to fit it. But now I don't use this method, I mount it by welding.

I didn't change anything in the suspension of this Sportster! It's stock. XL1200S is originally equipped with a cartridge type suspension.

How does it feel on the road in comparison with Harley's regular fork?
@@nazar.ostryzhniuk Because of its generous stroke, the vehicle barely feels the unevenness of the road surface during normal driving, and the amount of spring sinking can be easily adjusted. When driving at high speed, you can drive with peace of mind as the moderate stiffness prevents wobbling. However, many of them need to be overhauled due to aging.

If the problem is not that bad, I think you should take care of the detent plate alone, so you won't have problems for a long time to come!

I extracted gear box from the engine and didn't see any marks of wear on gears. The detent plate placed an angle to surface and has scuffs on 5th gear point, may it causes jerks? Thank you.

Thanks for the comment! The bolt on the gearbox plate is about 20Nm and the nut on the shifter shaft is about 11Nm!
