Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is an emotional and mental journey through the mind and hell of Senua, a Pict woman, suffering from Psychosis, set amidst rich Celtic and Norse lore.

my god, even 5 years later just the first few notes make my eyes watery, what a masterpiece of a game!
Senua is a masterpiece. The unparalleled quality of the motion capture, the writing, the artistic direction, Melina Juergens's beauty and performance... it doesn't get better than that.
Yeah, the mocap, the writing, and Melinas performance were all absolutely on point. It becomes quite clear, however, thay they didn't have the budget to do more than *one* really high quality mocap charecter, which doesn't like... detract from the experience at all? But it feels like there's very much a reason that there's only one actual human model in the game and the rest are enemies. But hey, if you can only have one high fidelity, well acted charecter in your game - good on you for making it the protagonist, haha 😅
Just finished this game last night. And yes it made me cry too. This game is a very meaningful game. To anyone out there suffering from mental health issues. Just know I'm proud of you for not giving up.
The final cut scene and soundtrack made me cry like a baby. Now I watch this video to never forget how deep is this video game and his background history. I really want to thank you for such a great monument for Senua and her journey. :)

Apparently not many people realize this song is from the mid 2000's and Gothic. The first time it was uploaded to RUclips was in 2007 along with a short CG film made by Andy Huang.
And the group Vnv Nation have been around since the 1990s I believe.
Yep they started in the 90's. But I was chilling to their music back in 2002 - during my High School Gothic years - with their album Future Perfect. My favorite songs from that album are Beloved, Electronaut, Airships and Genesis (Remixed by Icon of Coil).

VNV never made goth music. In the 90's it was Dark Wave and after millenium it turned to new genre called Future Pop
@@alpha_omega1014 "Gothic" is an umbrella term, it encompasses a lot of genres now, thanks to that time period where a lot of bands and styles were being experimented with. Although, recently there's been a "purity" movement and the term Goth is back to being what it originally was.
I absolutely loved this game and this song. I recently finished it 2 weeks ago and I still am thinking about it

This game looks beautiful and the song is my favorite and it is illusion by vnv nation which is my favorite artist and this song was about a girl who was goth/Alternative who got bullied and murdered for being different.... and it is true the world does feel like an illusion
The game is magnificent; visually and audibly.
Way to shit all over a person's memory by working on the lyrics for all of five goddamn minutes. No flow, no rhythm, no effort whatsoever.

When I first finished this masterpiece I did in fact feIt empty inside, and thats the type of the game when you do finish it you either start crying which was my first recation then simpIy stand up and start cIapping because it was that good, Cant wait for HeIIbIade 2 :)

Vnv Nation are pretty good. Listened to some of their other stuff since I heard the song on the game, enjoying most of their stuff actually.

A beautiful outro song for an amazing game. Combat was a little standard, but that didn't detract from the game tbh - the world was beautiful and the navigational puzzles were a real treat. I hope they can get together a slightly bigger budget for Hellblade 2, because I would of loved if there was a bit more non-linear exploration in the environments - the world in this game felt very much like a set series of "trials", although I guess that *is* relevent to the narrative of the whole experience. Such a beautiful game, man!

It's strange to me that a lot of people only found out about VNV Nation through this game. I've known the band for so many years... I can't see a connection between this song and the game, even though I appreciated the developers' good musical choice.

*ONLY those who truly struggle & relate heavily to mental illness will be greatly affected by this masterpiece. After playing hellblade first time early this year, I felt Senuas deep personal suffering through each stage, til the very end. And yeah, that ending made me cry. ALOT. I admit it.*
*I personally relate to facing such mental struggle, & just like Senua, completely alone throughout it. Truly heartbreaking & impactful. Marvelous game!*

I tried to stick away from spoilers as much as possible but due to the lyrics of the song and what I wanted, I found that hard to do. It's why I titled it as such; because people that haven't played the game will think its the end song and cinematic to boot. Which means they won't click it unless they want to see the end cinematic of the game. Whereas people that have played through the game won't care that it has some footage in that could be considered a spoiler. I'm cutting down a lot of my views, but this isn't a trailer, it's a cinematic of the entire game and made sense to use some footage of the bosses.
It was in no way, shape or form my intention to ruin the game for anyone.
