I am Dvorak. Though I am not THE Dvorak. But my ancestors were Dvorak. I've loved the Maestros music ever since the young age of 8. So glad there is so much adulation for the man and his music!
that first humoresque is so dear to my heart, i can never listen to it without tearing up. the power of music to make you remember lost loved ones is incredible
Thank you very much for sharing these with us, not only the complete Op. 101, with sheet music, but also that 9th additional one. Very much appreciate all the care you put into doing so. These gems certainly deserve resurrection in concert recitals. Very interesting how Dvorak approaches the idea of a minor key Humoresque, but given his knowledge of Slavic folk music/dance, it is no surprise that he carries off that challenge so well. Thanks again for sharing these with us!
No, I would also like to thank you for giving me such feedback, it makes me feel better, now that I'm going through a very difficult time at my job. Please stay tund for more awesome content, nonetheless, OK? :)
I heard so much classical music as a child which I forgot about. But everytime I hear a piece I somehow remember from something on the radio I can’t recall from what it was. Today it were his Humoresques. I still can’t remember if it held any significant meaning to me, but the feeling that I know it from somewhere is so weird
Exquisite and lovely. Reminds me of Mendelssohn's songs without words a bit. I'd love to learn these some day, looks like they would be quite fun to play.
SIDE COMMENTS: 1) I'm behind schedule, I know, shush. This time, I realized I was actually using the wrong edition, and so had to snapshot some pictures from scratch again. Sigh. 2) Thank you very much for the milestone. I meant it when I said "we wouldn't be here if it weren't for you" now that I legit noticed we're getting big faster than I expected. I can't thank you enough for that. 3) Heads up to the one who requested this! :D 4) No offense, but Dvorak is a bit off the radar for me. Which of his works would you recommend me to listen to? 5) Any random comments, suggestions, opinions, questions, or video requests? Feel more than free to leave a comment or give me a PM. :D
4) I guess you already listened to this, but Dvorak masterpiece is of course Symphony No. 9 "From the New World". But he has some also other interesting works, which I recommend for you to check: Cypresses No. 11, Serenade for strings in E Major, Mazurek in E Minor op. 49 - Dvorak is full of magic!
The Slavonic Dances, both Opus 46 and 72, are wonderful! Either the piano four hands original version, or the orchestrated version he made afterwards. His Legends is also a wonderful piece, as are all of his symphonic poems, my favorite being The Golden Spinning Wheel; and his Cello Concerto. Dvorák is one of my first obsessions in music, and still today his music inspires me. Thank you so very much for uploading this wonderful video!
Another person that made no. 7 famous is Jack Benny attempting to play the violin/piano version back in the day (1940's and 50's). That's what I think of whenever I hear this piece.
I love this music ! I have always loved Dvorak's "Humoresque" , but all the pieces in this set are delightful . Where would I get the sheet music for this ?
Inspirovaná indiánskou pohřební melodií, jak se lze dočíst v úvodu ke klavírnímu vydání Humoresek, který napsal Otakar Šourek Inspired by Americna Indians' funeral melody, as state in preface to Czech piano edition, which was written by Otakar Šourek
Interesting that in the 7th Humoresque I found in what might be an error either by the composer or the publisher. In measure 6 the note is a solid Eb, not the grace note Eb going to Gb. All throughout the piece as the theme is repeated it remains the grace note Eb followed by the solid Gb. Usually, composers of this time period and before would be very consistent with their themes.
on a Casio keyboard there's a version of the Gb major one that was transcribed to G major. It's nice to have but also pretty evil. Whoever learnt the pieces using the instructions of that keyboard will have to relearn it all over again

Last one isn’t in B minor
Der Troghalden thanks for letting us know I couldn’t figure it out.
Thank you! Why when I heard the B Major Poco allegretto, I always a bit felt anxious, or even frightening
It is B Moll Minore
No. 7 is so beautiful: one of immortal masterpieces of the great composer.
The last bar of the last piece is actually hilarious.
Fergus Cullen D-flat + C-flat vs G natural - minor or major?:)
Kinda the point

You can bet I will stay tuned! Sorry to hear you are going through a very difficult time at your job. Hope it passes quickly! Good luck!
Beautiful music and a great performance by Radoslav Kvapil. Thank you very much for sharing this music and for the illustrative text.
This is absolutely superb, I hope I can write music like this one day
Good Luck
You are a true gift to music lovers everywhere!! Thank you for your kind work as always. :)
Sure, no problem, my friend. :D
Dvorak's set of Mazurkas are also very amazing and almost the twin to these works for piano.

These are incredibly unique pieces!
Excellent performance. I'm sorry I've never heard of Kvapil before. Thank you for the introduction.
Kvapil recorded complete solo piano pieces by Dvořák
Exquisite and lovely. Reminds me of Mendelssohn's songs without words a bit. I'd love to learn these some day, looks like they would be quite fun to play.

Symphony No. 7 is a very good piece.
the dumky trio and his second piano quintet are masterpieces!!

thank you for sharing these beautiful piano pieces ! .
Very sweet.
THANK YOU SO MUCH....!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this masterpiece! BRAVOOOO
The Poco Andante e molto cantabile turns out to be my most favorite after listening to all of them. No. 7 is overplayed.
Hai Nguyen Number 7 is my favorite though. And very few pieces are overplayed
What the hell do you mean by overplayed?? Maybe you mean "the most appreciated one among the rest of the humoresques".
Beautiful & Pleasant masterpieces
Great music and superb execution!
Ah oui j ai vu sous la pièce musicale, les noms des différents mouvements. Merci!

You can get it at imslp.org. :)
Thank you !
I might add 8 waltzes, most to my liking being 4, 5 and 6.
OMG NUMBER 5 😍😍😍😍
13:45 cute polka like Strauss's one
I strongly believe that No. 4 is inspired by/an allusion to the Czech Christmas carol Narodil se Kristus Pán. At least the initial theme.
Vivace In F# Major 0:23
listen to Art Tatum play Number 7; fantastic rendition
Quel est le nom de l avant dernier mouvement de cette pièce de piano de Dvorak ? Est ce que qq 1 sait? J adore !
C'est simplement l'humoresque n°7 !
Dvorak got bored by the end of No. 8 and just slapped some notes on the page. Very fitting for the nature of these pieces.
No, the motif in the last bars appears on numerous occasions previously in the piece.
20:50 the only one i came for

Is the famous one :D
It's my favourite one

I feel somehow some episodes in this set sound very much like from a Chinese composer.
Agreed, the pentatonicism gave me an impression of that
Qué preciosidad.
