Dmitri Shostakovich - Dances of the Dolls (UNIVERSAL CHILDREN'S DAY TRIBUTE)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 ноя 2016
- Shostakovich's Dances of the Dolls is a suite of easy piano pieces compiled in 1953 from his Ballet Suites, which were themselves compilations of excerpts from his ballets, film scores and incidental music. The Dances are charming miniatures in the style of his Children's Notebook, Op. 69, from 1944.
The opening "Lyrical Waltz" comes from the Ballet Suite No. 2; the next four installments -- "Gavotte," "Romance," and "Polka" and "Dance Petite Ballerina" -- come from the Ballet Suite No. 1; and the last two miniatures, "Waltz-Joke Hurdy-Gurdy" and "Waltz Dance," come from the Ballet Suite No. 4.

THanks for taking the trouble to give these timing locations
Fabrizio Pardo thank u
Thank you
Thank you so much, Fabrizio!
Grazie! ❤
I didn t know this work. Amazed by its simplicity, grace and musicality.
My ballet teacher used these piano pieces during lessons... If I close my eyes I seem to see me take all the steps... Memory resurfaces thanks to this splendid music💗
These pieces sound so improvised yet so well thought out at the same time
Great performance! While this is not earthshaking music, it just shows the genius diversity of Shostakovich's talent!
His experience of playing piano at the cinema in his youth kept his "feet on the ground" of accessible music.
Let's face it, his symphonies are complex, but the one thing they have is appeal. Yes, the intellectual appeal of the symphonies is deep, not shallow like these pieces, but Shostakovich had his feet in many worlds: concert hall, movie world, and even in the world of children.
I call attention to his 2nd Piano Concerto written for his son Maxim which is eminently playable and does have singable melodies.
Ah the humanity of Dimitri.
I see the picture of Dimitri sitting outside his apartment at night because he was sure the KGB would eventually come for him and he didn't want his family disturbed.
Dimitri had it all: including a heart!
He could never say no to anybody and the government took advantage of that to make him sign papers which he didn’t like
Oleg Prokofiev said that "he tried to help so many people that ... less and less attention was paid to his pleas."
He really was a good man :(
Oh yeah. I admire the guy, still made good music despite the government only wanting him to make propaganda-supporting ones.
Thank you so much, Leo, for all you have writen about Shostakovich. ❤
I did enjoy getting to know a bit more about this music genius. 💯
@@suzanailhabarretoviana1863 I am honored by your words! Thank you!
I was a music student at San Francisco State in the 50's and Dmitri Shostakovich walked into a music history class I was taking and sat in back of me for 10 minutes and then got up and walked out.
It turns out that the Russian government allowed Dmitri to travel outside of Russia to see how other countries handled their music programs.
I was so lucky to actually get that close to the genius Dmitri.
I think my obsession with Shostakovich started with this. I wish I could have talked to him, but I didn't get the opportunity.
Played the Lyric Waltz in my first year in college, it was such a fun piece to learn
ARGGGHHHH I remember playing this when I was nine, thanks to my abusive manipulative piano teacher in Asia. Gives me Vietnam flashback.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Christ, those people are just one of the worst.
Big oof I played the gavotte for my grade 5 exam piece

Malvin Risan it very well could be
Martin Ryan Bradshaw? Austrian virtuoso?
Магический Д.Д.Шостакович! Великий мастер всех форм композиции. Незабываемый волшебник музыки. (20/4/17)
Shostakovich 's superb talent has brought us this tiny, childish, pure gem! ❤ 🎹 💯
Wonderful! Interesting to think Shostakovich produced pieces like this before his brutal and unrelenting symphonies.
Greg Hufton not before! lol
He composed in these two styles simultaneously it's quite amazing
Symphonies neither brutal nor unrelenting.
We're already at opus 69 at this point. Shostakovich already composed some of his greatest music by now. If you like this style though, check out his final symphony (15). He wrote it just a few years before he died, and it's honestly one of the most charming pieces I've ever heard.

SHOSTAKOVICH IS AMAZING!!!
Witty, charming miniatures: absolutely delightful!
Love his music and characters ! I absolutely want to play this 😋 Thank you for sharing.
I didn't want it to end. Delightful!
Superb performance!!! Full of charm!!! Perfect rubatos (if there is such a thing), grab your attention to the very last note. What a wonderful set of pieces that I didn't know until coming across this recording.
Rubatos?
Happy children’s day I’m also playing this piece.
What a charming set of pieces this is. Thank you for sharing
These are pedagogical pieces written specifically for children learning to play the piano. Shostakovich has other similar sets at varying degrees of difficulty. I suspect this particular set was aimed at 3rd or 4th year piano students. All other Soviet composers were also required to compose such sets for young students. Prokofiev, Khachaturian, and a host of others have written such piano sets.
Absolutely wonderful!
Es una gran composición, muy graciosa y llena de energía!
Чудесный цикл пьес Шостаковича! Все это когда-то играла подростком. Как было приятно окунуться в воспоминаниях!. Благодарю
11:23 is my favourite as we danced our 2nd year ballet recital to this. You are bringing my childhood back to life!
That's so adorable! >_
Thank you ! Specially I like this interpretation!!!

this suit is adorable and it was my first time to know this, thank you. I think a lot of Taiwanese piano students don't know this piece as I was, maybe I can learn this suit and performing to them. it must be interesting, haha. and thank you again.
Glad to get your attention and be interested in such music. :)
Rake156Gaming oh…I'm sorry for hear that. But Why? It totally not stuffy for meself… is it too simple or ?
+Rake156Gaming
Not a problem, you can use shirts instead. :D
堃生 its because its not a suit, its a suite
The End Thank you very much. Now i learned how to spell suite, finally...
Nice to see some happy pieces from Shostakovich, who usually didn’t write happy pieces
Thanks. Well done!
So delicate. Bellasimo!
Priceless miniatures...!

No había tenido l oportunidad de disfrutar a sostacovich..
I love the 1st piece
GRACIAS !! MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS !!! miniaturas pero son Joyas musicales !!! quien interpreta??
Art just needs to enchant and surprise.
This music is what is says on the tin.
Shostakovich sounds like someone that thinks classical music is stupid and then sits down and improvises this as a joke
You should hear some of his later work he gets very strange
@@im_an_oyster he was a strange man. But he made good music in my honest opinion.
@@XHitsugaX How was Dmitri Shostakovich strange?
@@im_an_oyster I don't think he is getting strange, he just experienced a lot of remarkable things that he wrote down as music
Joyce K More like he just gets more frustrated with his situation and a lot more nihilistic.
The first one reminds me of Chopin for some reason.
Maybe because it's a waltz.
I think cause of the left hand
felipe brandel Strauss for me..
felipe brandel it reminds of ravel's la valse
bit similar to chopin in a way
舞踊曲みたいで素敵!
I bought myself the book when was in France earlier this year. Sad thing I'm barely able to read it :(
how come?
you should do something about it
not really easy pieces at all especially at this pianistic standard

Is this allowed to be included in the piano repertoire in the conservatory?
Just for future reference, my song is at 2:05

thenameisgsarci Sorry for the late response, the video is called Easy Orchestration in A Few Hours. It’s on the OrchestrationOnline channel. He orchestrated the Lyric Waltz.
