Just wanted to say that I just built this for my Arturia Keylab 49 Mk2, which weighs 14 pounds and I’m impressed how sturdy it is. This had solved a lot of problems. Thanks!
Good one, thanks for sharing. I was looking for under-the-desk keyboard slides but they're all too low, made for computer keyboards. This system looks a bit less elegant but it can actually work, I'm going to give it a try.
Ive been wanting to find videos like this thanks man! I just am debating cause i wanna rearrange my room and idk if the desk i want if I’ll be able to make this for under my desk
Cheers man 🙌🏼 If you’re gonna try it, you might wanna shorten the bits holding up the bottom shelf. Mine are a bit too long and it means there’s less space for my knees hahah
looks a good approach although as I have a sit/stand desk I have to work around a bar that runs throughout the underside of the desk. How deep/long are the side pieces you used please? Assume you are using 450mm runner thanks
@andrablack what do you recommend for a heavy 30 lb keyboard like the Yamaha MX88? I want to implement it in my soundbooth. Do you think this setup would hold that much? Thanks!
Did it work? I'm planning to use it for an Arturia Keylab 88 Essential but really not sure. I planned to get an IKEA Linmon table probably the same he uses just wider but I'm worried it won't hold. Does payload also apply to underneath or is that a different situation and depending on how we secure it?
Those IKEA table tops have a 3mm top and bottom for a 34mm overall thickness, so it’s mostly expanded cardboard inside. I wouldn’t be trusting anything other than a lightweight keyboard to that.
Be careful with ikea desks, inside is air and cardboard. There is chipboard about 10cm on ends where the feet go for structure though aim for those. Anyway nice built.
Superb! Seems pretty sturdy. I'd like to build something like that... except my keyboard weighs 11.8 kg (26 lb). What fo you think - maybe adding another set of rails would help?
Thanks for this, gonna give this a go soon. Good idea with the extra wood bit on the side to mount the runners on. I'm going to try and have the middle without a full, just two L brackets either side that the keyboard sits on. Reckon that will be strong enough? How wobbly is this overall?
Mines not wobbly at all, but it could be slighter shorter (there’s quite a bit of space above the keyboard). This means I’ve got less room underneath. You’d need to make it the perfect length etc to make the L brackets work, but it might work fine. The section my keyboard sits on was just a cheap shelf that cost about £5/less than $10 👍🏼
What table did you use for this? The affordable ones I can find online are hollow or otherwise cheaply made and I don’t trust them to hold up with all my gear
It’s a cheap desk from ikea, pretty sure it’s filled with paper. Seems solid enough to me though, just make sure you use plenty screws when attaching anything!

Just the exact idea that I need. Great IKEA linnmon hack
Im in awe of how easy youve made this look! Thanks for the video! Merry Christmas from Kentucky!
Simple yet clever. I ll be using this method
Nicely done!
I am in awe of people who can do DIY things like this!! Also I love the tron flute at the end 😍

Very helpful thank you

Hmm, I can't say for sure. If you get rails that are rated to take a lot of weight, and build it well, you should be fine. Cheers

Great video mate, that keyboard try is that to fit a 49 key keyboard
gonna try this.
Do you have vibration problems when you play?
Great work man!!! Did you get the board from Home Depot?? What size for each of them??

Nice one. Do you have a link for those sliders mate?
Is the desk of IKEA strong enough? I really need the correct information.
Good job! What are the dimensions of your desk? LxWxH?

Thanks! Just make sure you get rails that are designed to take the weight. Mine are rated for 35kg. Use plenty of screws!
@@andrablack6619 will do! I'm seriously thinking of using actually four of them - two at each side. Should handle my baby CME UF-7.
Just get the industrial kind from a hardware shop. Will definitely be strong enough!
Did it work out in the end? Mine weighs about 18.7 lbs but wondering how I'm going to do it.
Yeah. But there will be no space for legs under such a sliding shelf, unfortunately :(
I think he was supposed to have made it rest further back . Not stop so close to the front

@@andrablack6619 Cheers - how thick are your wood pieces?
2-3cm/about an inch
@@andrablack6619 Cheers mate!
No bother bro, check out the rest of my videos if you’re interested! 👊🏼

@@andrablack6619 how is it holding up, now that some time has passed?
Still holding up fine man!
Dude you need to whip out the sander, and some stain.
The problem is the shakiness
Can it works on guitar?
I’m not sure what you mean bro
Your eyes at the start of the video, longing for a drink.
Nicely done!
