    If you go into the Wexford tourist office on the quay you can ask for a key to get into st.peters church

      @Peter Laurent Maybe there were a bunch of Swedish tourist nearby who decided to prise the church door open and nick the silver. You know reliving their ransacking viking ancestors glory days. Robbing churches and monasteries were their speciality.(, l am joking of course.)

    You completely missed the National Opera House, and the Friary, best fish and chips in Kilmore Quay not sharkeys, Rissole varies depending on where you buy one, can be bland or nice and spicy.

    St Patrick was Romano-British, he was taken by Irish pirates to Ireland as a slave from Britain . The Vikings invaded Ireland, Wexford was a Viking Town even then. The Norsemen ie Vikings settled in a part of Francia, having been bought off by the King of the Franks to stop raiding and given large tracks of land ie Nor-man-dy. The Rissole, in the very old days it contain meat, cheese, and left overs. With the introduction of the potato it took hold, Wexford is famous for the Rissole, with herbs etc no meat. Fish and Chips , the fish is caught off the coast near Kilmore Quay. We don’t have French fries, we have chips fried in oil, like the battered fish.
    Catholic Churches were supress years ago for the common man, most are built mid 1800`s . Oliver Cromwell suppress ,a basic Catholic uprising against the English . At the entry to Waterford there are two points of land , Hook Head and Crook Head. When asked how he was going to take Waterford. By Hook or by Crook . 1798 Catholic revolt was ill conceived. The British had cannon.
    The English invaded Ireland? Not so, the deposed king Dermot MacMurrough needed an army, he looked towards the Anglo Normans, who obliged, marrying into Irish nobility they settled, many years later when England was established from people who had come over from Anglo land ie England. Now had a very strong foothold that lasted for over 700 years. Temple Town is more like a village, one grave can be seen of a Hospitaller, after the Templers were dissolved.

    I have never been to wexford. Thankyou guys for sharing. My grandad was born there but l only recently found out he was born in wexford not Cork as l was originally told. Love the vibe of the place. Are there any local beer makers in wexford.? As l plan to visit quite soon. Plus wexford is close to the seaside l believe. Also the best fish and chips are cooked in beef fat. I tasted some in the iron bridge museum near Telford England, best ever . The fish and batter were so beautiful to taste. All this palm oil nonsense has ruined the flavours of fish and chips both in Britain and Ireland. Also that wexford potato would be delicious smothered in bisto best beef gravy. Bloody yummy.!

    • @peterlaurent9905
      @peterlaurent9905 Год назад +2

      Well I don’t think the fish and chips are cooked in beef fat , usually sunflower oil or local rapeseed oil. They are good though . As for local beers yes there are a few loca craft beers that you can get in the supermarkets , I am sure that some pubs supply them too . Yellow belly is one brand and another is black water . Wexford has a harbour and some sea fishing fleets . Kilmore is a smaller village but more important for fishing it’s a 30 min drive away . Wexford has an international opera festival every year too

    • @colinsmith1288
      @colinsmith1288 Год назад +2

      @Peter Laurent Thankyou for the up date. Wexford sounds very cultured with the opera connection as well. I love watching fishing boats coming and going so another plus for wexford.

    Lucozade drink is very common in Nigeria too. There are things I have been seeing in your videos of Ireland which are also found in Nigeria. The good examples are Guinness Stouts and beverages.
