The ending. My god that ending. It. was. BEAUTIFUL. It really feels like Ackk studios looked inside themselves, and did everything they could to fix the original flawed state of the game. They truly proved that they had what it took to change their blindspots, where so many other developers would have given up in the face of controversy long ago. While it’s been a tenuous journey, and it certainly hasn’t been easy with scrutiny surrounding it, I think it is undeniable that YIIK.IV will stand on its own merit against even the Internet’s harshest critics. For all of their flaws, they never stopped believing in their own potential, and that demands respect no matter how many mistakes or social faux pas one causes. The amount of hard work and soul clearly demonstrated all throughout the new game cannot be ignored. The Allanson Brothers have faced a fiery ocean of criticism, (some warranted, some not) but they faced it all with brave grit and courage to continue. In due time, I know their now finished work will be vindicated once and for all. It has been an honor to ride a thousand miles on Alex Eggleston’s flannel-clad shoulders, but now I truly feel that Alex, Vella, and Ackk studios can finally be laid to rest. They’ve more than earned it, imo. I doubt anyone will read my comment, but if someone does, know this: No matter how stacked the deck is against you, no matter how impossible the odds may seem, even if you feel like the biggest loser in the world who has made nothing but mistake after mistake… It is never too late to try and better yourself. It’s been a thousand privileges to play yiik, NO. YIIK.IV through to its’ entirety. It’s honestly insanely inspiring to me how Ackk studios never abandoned their dream even when the entire Internet hated their life’s work. But in the end, I feel they will finally be properly recognized for the toil and tears they’ve bled into this beautiful game. I legitimately cried when I saw all of Alex’s friends be liberated and fly off into the sunset. The Allanson brothers threw themselves into the darkest pits of hell to try and save their creation, and while initially it seemed they would never find redemption; they’ve finally risen out of development hell not as a martyr, but once-fallen angels granted their true wings at long last. Lemonade!!! 🦙
I was a beta tester for this game, and I was waiting for someone to post the FINAL FINAL boss clip so much! It’s such a great moment and I loved the music so much! :p
Those bastards did it. They managed to take YIIK and make it unironically good in more ways than just the soundtrack. This game really did deserve a second shot, and I think I.V's done that pretty well. Not perfectly, but in a way where I can look back and say "Yeah, I actually really liked this game" this time around
yep, my main gripe with the base game was kinda meh gameplay and kinda meh presentation in some parts, but they really have outdone themselves!! I think it was my most anticipated game/update with an actual release and def one of the best experiences I had this year
the Y2K bud is pronounced why-two-kay, but this EXACT game, due to a "failure" with using the roman numbers is called YIIK. it is absolutely intentional and hints us on different theories - one being that Michael became aware of how it is pronounced in *our* reality (and also became aware that he's in a game etc. etc.), or the dev(???) (Andrew specifically, since he's the one with the Michael pfp everywhere) telling us this. There are probably better theories and explanations, but this is the only thing I have rn
Alex puts people into boxes, anybody with traits that remind him of his childhood friend Michael become a "parallel" Michael. The game itself is implied to be a digital soul vessel, or put more simply, a digital recreation of Alex's soul. Or even more simply, Alex managed to put himself inside a videogame to live out his delusional fantasies, but his subconscious gets in the way and brings back to light everything real about his failures and how he pushes people away. That aside, the Michael we know is aware that he is forced to play a part in this charade, knows he's in "yiik," and is tormented by it. He's referring to it like anybody else would, because he knows. Note also that in the bad ending where you offer Alex a drink first, he shoots the window you're looking at him through as well. Very sad.
@@I_AM_THE_KOVVING_MAN Your comment is fine. Just cause weirdos like me know way too much about this consarned game doesn't mean everybody should just get it right away or something crazy like that. As long as we're thinking, we're fine.
