Wow! Excellent video! You're giving useful tips to ski safely. It's going to be really helpful, especially this season. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Exactly the questions I was asking myself this season, not only about backcountry skying but also other outdoor sports. I will put some of these in practice as of now.
Most dangerous time? Early and late season, also….when is windy, rapid warm up, lots of snow, etc. Things I learned in my AIARE and Backcountry rescue classes Jan 2021, highly recommended…
Thanks for the video! Although I think you should have lost a few more words about the avalanche report. If it‘s available it should be the indicator no 1 to decide if it‘s safe to ski or not.
Very true. Thanks for the add on. It's always hard to edit those videos. This one started as an 18 minutes project. I tried to make it digestible and efficient. I agree about the avalanche report being the number one factor. In video #2 (see description) I do talk about what conditions will make me turn around and what conditions will make me stay home.

In VT we call the early season points that rise above the surface shark fins. they represent far larger snag's and obstacle's hiding beneath.
