Something I always thought was interesting in Yugioh was that traditional ideas of Light and Dark are often swapped, meaning a “dark” character won’t always be evil and a “light” character won’t always be good. Even in the first series, Yami (“dark” or “darkness”) Yugi was a hero. Some of his better monsters were also Dark, such as Dark Magician, Summoned Skull, and Gandora.
In a sense, darkness exists, not to antagonize, but to balance overwhelmingly oppressive light. At least, in some parts of the anime.
To add to this comment, there's the Allies of Justice which are all Dark-type VS the invader Worms which are all Light
Another great example of this is the arc in GX where the main villain of said arc uses light attribute arcana force monsters.

Red dragon archfiens does have archfiend in its name and alot of archfiend/fiends card are dark attribute and also have anyone else realise that each signer dragon is representive with an attribute but insted of Water we got 2 dark dragons. Also the yu-gi-oh 5ds dub cut alot of things in the series

Well it be more defined if you go by Astrology. To what a some Americans can go by. Course there are other types to. Chinese. As both Astrology and tarot go to the elements to. Water,fire,earth and wind. As the plants to most of the signs and the sun is to Leo. Palmistry can also play parts to it. I know because I am into it.

Dark cause its the best and has the most support.
Affinity wise I was always fixated on cards having great artworks and Dark types have some awesome card art.

I’d use FIRE, since outside Yugioh, it’s my main anime element.
And DARK, since Yugioh and Digimon taught me darkness is not necessarily evil, just the person wielding it.
Dark for me, because I think in absolutes.

This is actually really accurate for my Kozmo deck. The dark machines provide an overwhelming firepower, and love to be destroyed. But I often find the weaker light psychics consistently bailing me out of losing situations with obscure effects, and tag-in strategy. A good balance of optimism and pessimism.
I kinda like this and how you organized them. However their is always outliers. Prime example is Kaiba and his Blue-Eyes. Though admittingly he did start the series of with a mix deck leaning towards dark, later on he used much more support for his signature card and even different variance, but though he did have a character arc his dueling was still that of q dark archetype. And for good reasons, Blue-Eyes are an aggressive archetype that focus on overwhelming strength with their support like the eyes of blue or the 2 stones focuses on getting them out easier

Back in the days, I had multiple decks, based on each attribute.

I love all of them. It's important to have a balance between the elements. But I'm still not sure which is my favorite. But in bakugan (classic) Fire was my absolute favorite attribute and light was a close second and darkness was third and wind fourth. Water was fith and earth sixth.

I've always liked Water and Wind; Mermails are still one of my favorite decks, and I'm glad more Sharks support is coming out. I'm also hyped for the Simorgh support, and I still like Dragunity and Mecha Phantom Beasts.
Earth - Ancient Gear is my archetype.
But if I had to choose, I'd feel wind is my favorite because of stardust dragon, and it just feels right. To me the wind represents speed, flight, and taking a page from your books, freedom. Plus it looks so comfortably to look at.
Attributes meant something in the original game, and original as in, before it came to physical cards.
There used to be a mechanic were certain attributes were stronger than others and gained an edge in battle. I think capsule monsters carries this mechanic.
I've always preferred dark centered decks, my favorite archetype are evilswarms, I also really like phantom knights and red eyes, and I'm currently playing a Z-Arc-magician deck

I feel I’m a mix of water and wind attribute like to adapt to situation and for wind I like to move around opponents traps
I have always liked earth monsters because as a kid i loved ancient gear, but more recently i have been planning almost exclusively agent decks, so light with a tendency for earth tactics.
I’ve always appreciated the Chaos of Light and Dark attributes. It says a lot about me, personally, and even reflects my liking for the yin-yang.
I’m surprised FIRE was that low.

I'm more of a Dark type duelist myself but I do like to create combinations with Light and Dark
I use a lot of dark decks with my love of zombies and rokkets lol. Your explanation of the duelist is pretty accurate to me, I like to go all out against my opponent but I wouldn't say i get angry when things don't go to plan
I’ve always gone with Light and Dark attributes, unless my decks revolve more around monster type. My two favorite played decks have been Blackwings and Salamangreat

I was always a light duelist, and that perfectly fits me, I'm very optimistic but I can can get way too confident during the duel sometimes giving my opponent an extra turn.
Even though I run most dark themed decks, I relate more to Light. I remember dueling a friend who played Predaplants and I was playing Odd-Eyes. He had only Greedy out on the field and I had the cards to summon Odd-Eyes Rebellion. I became arrogant and began gloating that I won this match....I failed to take Greedy’s effect into consideration and then lost my Odd-Eyes Rebellion and the duel
I normally use Light and Dark attribute monsters in the same deck, regardless of if their archetypes were meant to synergize with each other or not. If I try to focus on an attribute in a deck I usually like to have an Earth attribute deck because they tend to have extremely solid support. Especially for Dino and Beast types.

I mean, I'd say primarily Dark
Mainly due to my use of Dark Hero (long time Destiny Hero user, before I get the bandwagon accusations), Rokkets, and Zombies (which, admittedly have a variety, but I mainly use the Dark attributed ones)
But I dabble in others, depending on my mood
I like how the pie chart colors are different from the color of the attributes they represent, lol. Made it a little confusing to looks at. 😅
I love water. It’s my favorite attribute. I do like flexibility and adaptability of a deck so I love the fact that nimble are water type.
95% of my favorite Archetypes are light or dark or have a good mix so I guess I'm a chaos duelist lol. After that, I'd say I gravitate toward some wind archetypes like Harpies and Gustos, plus your description for wind is pretty relatable for me.

There really isn't much commonality in play style so I always felt that where a duelist truly expresses themselves is in archetype choice. A bombastic, over the top, dominant person might go with something loud and flashy like Trains or Raid Raptors, while a person with a more subtle or indirect personality might prefer a win condition deck like Gimmick Puppets or Exodia. That diversity of play style and artwork is what really makes Yu-Gi-Oh special, and I always liked how characters in the anime would have decks themed around who they are as a person.
I use all the attributes since I more tend to focus on the archetype. But me personally in terms of the methods you set for each attribute I’m mainly earth, wind, and dark. Methodically working my way towards victory while being ready and able to seek victory through indirect means and tricks
I'm more of a mix of Earth and Wind, so I do have a steadfast resolve, and I do tend to be calm in certain situations, but I'm also a fight or flight person, meaning I do attack, but I also evade attacks whenever I can, so I'm like sand in a way. Does that make sense?

I’m using dark monsters in my two decks
My favorite deck is Gishki, which puts me at a bit of a dilemma. Gishki is probably the one Water Archetype that doesn’t really follow the pattern you provided. Rather, it’s more of a Dark and Earth mix, despite being Water-Attribute.
Might I suggest a video like this one but focused on the multiple types of Main deck or Extra deck Special Summons?
My main monster categories are fiends and spellcasters, so Dark is inevitable.
We need another Attribute in the game.

I really thought Fire would be higher than that. That's interesting. I tend to run Dark decks with some Light attribute support cards. (Dark Magician, Darklords, etc.)
Water: you like Frogs
Earth: You like Machines and have a lot of huge beat sticks in your deck(s) and most likely have a Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe in your extra deck.
Pyro: you like Burn decks
Wind: You think Yusei and Stardust Dragon are cool. That or you think Mei Valentine is hot
Light: You like Blue-Eyes White Dragon and/or Cyber Dragon and think Kaiba and Zane are cool
Dark: You think Yugi is cool and are using Dark Magician. Dark Magician Girl is also your waifu.
Divine: you're a 90's kid and think you're being cool by saying Divine is your favorite type. You also put the illegal Blue, Red and Yellow versions of the Egyptian God cards in your deck. You also probably hate newer cards and think modern Yu-Gi-Oh is bad and want things to go back to "the good old days"

I’ve kind of adopted dark, light, and earth with my various dragon decks, those being my Dragonmaids, Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes, and Cyber Dragons, my soon-to-be made Wicked God deck, my soon-to-be made Skull Servants deck, and my soon-to-be made Buster Blader deck.

Honestly my favorite archetypes are ones that use them all. Skyfangs, Fortune Ladies, Junk/Synchron, Glad Beasts, etc. I hate being limited to a single type and perfect to have a deck with many options for varying plays and contingencies.

Wish there was a blue fire deck because I'm a fire guy, but blue is my favorite color. Maybe Konami could come up with a blue fire deck based on birds. Mainly because Blue Fire Falcon sounds really awesome, but in the meantime I'm sticking with Salamangreat.
Yo that’s what I’ve been wanting too! Blue fire is such a nice color and one of my favorites as well. So far the one deck that has Blue Fire, but not Fire based are Phantom Knights. But I think it would be cool if they made a Fairy or winged-beast deck with Blue Fire as their power and attribute

I personally have always find the light and dark attributes more interesting, tending to choose those decks composed of archetypes consisting of primarily those cards.
Though I've of course experimented with decks primarily of one out of all the different attribute at one point or another

I usually go for a mix of light and dark monsters and I would say your descriptions of the types fits for me at least
when i played the RL game, i used Fish OTK (my version used Genex Controller and Phantom of Chaos), Cloudian with Plasma, and Frogs. so Water with a touch of Dark.
When I first time saw "Blizzard Princess" I start building deck with water monsters: Ice Barriers, Umi for the life and sharks, a lot of sharks!
I'm a fire duelist who uses Laval. I focus on what the archetype was made for with one goal. finding I way to improve it every day

It often varies with the decks I use but some of my favorite monsters and support cards to play often favor the Wind and Dark attribute.
