A few of the "Positive effect for the enemy" cards could be actually rather neat in a "Mindgame" Archetype.
Like an archetype that revolves around playing really shitty cards, but the effect triggers as if it was the enemy activating it.
Cold feet becomes a cold wave that requires settup.
Unfortunate Report becomes a "You can attack twice" card.
Pot of Generosity becomes a Delinquient Duo that requires settup.
Or the 50000 IQ move of activating Back to the Wall followed by Sparks for the most BM FTK there is.

Mystical Refpanel can redirect Cold Feet to your opponent. While yes it's a trap card that requires time to setup and is a second card to get the same effect of cold wave it makes it where the effect only applies to your opponent and can happen on their turn. You can do this to Pot of Generosity as well making the cost a second card rather than 1000 LPs.

If I activate Cold Feet on my turn and I would try to activate a card that inflicts that effect on the opponent would the effect of Cold Feet not negate my card that wants to reflect it on my opponent? Or specifically in this case here does the effect of Refpanel activate before Cold Feet can lock off my ability to use spells and traps? I believe it is not a quick spell card. But a trap. And with I believe I mean I know.... It would not activate since I can't use it. Can I use a reaction spell or trap to reflect its effect on my opponent? I mean if my monster had an effect that says effects that are used on a player are used on the other player instead or something like that then yes. THAT would work. @_Vengeance_ 3 года назад +3

Actually, according to the official rules that wouldn't be a problem. After all, the rules state that when a card's effect conflicts with the rules, the card takes precedence. So if a Spell Speed 2 card cannot be activated unless it can chain to a Spell Speed 3 card, it can. Not that it matters in misprinted Counter Counter's case of course, since you must always treat a card as what it's intended to be rather than whatever misprint (or old version) you have.

@@SakuraAvalon Actually, the "ignore the Summoning conditions"-part exactly shows what I mean: there are cards that bypass the "needs to be Summoned properly"-restriction, like A Wild Monster Appears and Dark Summoning Beast because otherwise their effects wouldn't work properly.

There's a considerable amount of cards whose effects go agaisnt the basic rules of the game, that's why Konami has stated since atleast 2015 with the realease of pendulum monsters that the effects of the cards take priority against the rules of the game. So, funny thing about the Spirit of the Pharaoh that I noticed and was talking about with friends, it's actually 1 card away from being meta relevant if you think about it. This might sound crazy, but if you read the effect it's somewhat true. The effect "when this card is Special Summoned, you can Special Summon up to 4 level 2 or lower Zombie-Type Normal Monsters from your GY" would technically trigger anytime it's special summoned, regardless of how it's Special Summoned. Of course this doesn't seem relevant because it can only be Special Summoned in 1 way...........except if something said "Ignoring summoning conditions".
I could see a future where they print a zombie link monster that says "When this card is Link Summoned, Special Summon 1 Zombie-Type monster from your deck or graveyard, ignoring summoning conditions. You can only use this effect once per turn". IF something like that got printed on a reasonably easy to summon Link Monster, it would be able to summon Spirit of the Pharaoh straight from the deck, and trigger it's special summon effect, allowing you to get 4 level 2 and lower normal zombies from your graveyard to your field to extend Link Plays. In addition, if you play Zombie World, then the monsters in the graveyard don't even have to be Zombies, just Level 2 and Lower normal monsters would do. Skull Servants anyone?
IN addition, consider that cards like Tri-wight, and Painful Decision exist in the game, as more support for mass amounts of low level normal spam. I could see a zombie world deck that has, let's say, the low level cyberse normal monsters in grave due to their combo plays, and then just summons the Link that summons Spirit of the Pharaoh, summons those Cyberse back, and keeps going. Since remember, it does say UP TO 4, doesn't have to be 4, so if you have only a few cyberse normals in grave it still works as a combo/play extender. Of course it would require Zombie World for those Cyberse to be summonable off of Spirit, but I could very easily see some zombie combo archtype comming out in the future that uses this in their main deck as a play extender, and having a link that says "Special Summon a zombie type from deck or grave ignoring restrictions" *chuckles*

There is an obscure “Defense OTK” strategy that involves using a high wall like Stone Statue of the Aztecs with stuff like Fortress Warrior, something like Ojama Tokens, and Staunch Defender to get huge battle damage reflected at the opponent. It isn’t a good deck, but it is a deck. And in that ineffective deck, Unfortunate Report is a potential tech card. It’s not good by any means, but there is a use.

    • @Supreme_King_Time
      @Supreme_King_Time 4 года назад

Why would you play Report with Mirror Force? But your idea to force the opponent to attack could be used with Yubel to deal some damage. And with Report you could do it twice. Still not very good but it would be a way to use Report.

As a masochist, I'd love to see retrains of zone eater/ swordsman. Something like:
    "Zone Swordsman"
(Quick effect): You can discard this card: select one monster zone on your opponent's field. Any monster in that zone gains the following effect:
"If this card is tributed or used as Extra Deck Material (for any monster), that monster that used it retains this effect (no matter which zone it is in): When this card is normal summoned or special summoned, take 1000 points of damage. If this card uses its effect, take 1000 damage. If this card leaves the field, take 1000 damage. During the fifth End Phase after this effect is activated, return this monster to the deck and, if you do, your opponent can special summon one "Zone Swordsman" from their graveyard, but skip their next draw phase. Then, negate any effects applied by "Zone Swordsman" for the rest of the duel.

To be fair Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon can kinda be used in conjuction with graveyard interaction so for example you bring back the normal Red Eyes to now have 2 big bodies, i think that one isnt quite as bad as the other ones.

reminds me of a silly scene in the manga "yu-gi-oh R", where someone used several "graceful charity" cards in a row, which let him "draw 3 then discard 2."
THEN he player a weird card called "armament reincarnation" the made all "weapon" and "armor" cards in his graveyard turn into monsters that had 500 attack and 500 def PLUS their effect.
      FIVE monsters appeared.
THEN he played a card that made ALL his monster gain attack+def of 500 TIMES THE NUMBER OF OTHER MONSTERS OF THE SAME TYPE ON HIS FIELD.
so he then had 5 monster EACH with at least 2500 attack AND special abilities.
and one had an ability that reduced the enemy's monster's attack during battle...
      GAME OVER.

#6 Could be great in a situation where you can get the effect to apply to yourself. Obviously having two battle phases is incredibly powerful, so it would make sense for it to be balanced by needing a convoluted set up to get it to bounce back to you or be played on your opponent's side.

cold feet can be used to temporarily disable your continuous spell and trap cards. Like if your running mirror wall/fairy box you can use it to temporarily disable the card so that you don't have to pay to keep fairy box/ mirror wall in play. You could also use it to temporarily disable something like level limit area B or dragon capture jar on your turn letting you use your dragons and high level monsters that turn but after the turn ends all your lockdown cards turn back on.

Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon isn't as bad as it seems if you're also running Return of the Red-Eyes. With that trap on the field you're sacrificing Metal Morph for the summon of REBMD, then calling REBD right back onto the field. Although losing the effect of Metal Morph probably still isn't worth it, but can be helpful if you're trying to clear a bunch of your opponent's monsters quickly.
