Great job with a short bar , and so nice that you switched the saw off so we can hear that magestic tree making its last sound as it falls . That's part of how we judge a tree as it goes the fibres that won't let go does it shatter when it strikes the ground or is it an all mighty thud . It's been growing for a long time that's the least respect you can give it , well done .
I do residential tree services in western PA. Thats a nice size red! I love the fresh grain an the acidity smell of them. Biggest red to date is 5'10" on the stump. Ugly line tree. But no rot, no iron. Stay safe out there!
Looks like you could use a little more power & bar, but maybe you dont run into bigger stuff like that too often. sure you will get it felled right. Wonder how old those big ones are.
What a beautiful and Majestic tree but it has reached its maturity and was ready to be harvested I hope the wood will be put to good use in North Carolina a red oak tree that big would be very soft in the middle I think there's too much water in the soil here good job guys
hey Pa now thats a nice stick . You mentioned a west coaster would use a 48" bar. Maybe not remember we don't cut as low as you guys do and probably put the face above the flare so a 36" bar would be enough and also would put a humbolt face cut might also use a jack to dump it
10:58 thats the money shot right there!!! Great work guys! I was wondering why you cut so low? The tree is much wider there, than a foot higher... and you would not have to bend over so much while cutting...
I thought maybe you were magic or something...especially with that crazy root flair??? I was definitely curious about that. You definitely got after them wedges with that short handle...you got some swing on ya to drive them home. I’m a 5lb. Hammer fan to pound them home.
I posted a video....Cutting a Red Oak tree. I hope you can view it. Is there any way to notch a large root that we have dug out and exposed, without killing the tree?
Keith Clark logs are measured in board feet, specifically a thousand board feet or MBF. A board foot is twelve inches by twelves inches by one inch. A forty foot long log with a diameter of twenty four inches on the small end has one thousand board feet. Gross board feet and net board feet are two different things. You’re generally paid on the net board feet.
Cuz if you dont use it mother nature would kill her in another 20 years. They were put here to use em up. Thats why theres more trees in the usa in 2019 then there was in 1919. Cuz of good logging stewards.
to make beutiful things that will last for hundreds of more years its beauty will live on my friend , and hundreds off new little saplings will sprout in its place !!! and the cycle begins again !!!
Old growth does nothing but suck nutrients and stall a stand. Its not getting any taller itll just crowd canopy till it cant hold its limbs up and die. It wont seed much anymore as its spending everything on compartmentalizing wounds. Now with the tree gone a dozen suckers will grow off that root system and the scarifacing from hauling it out of there will allow seeds to finally make it to the soil and grow. Logging isnt what it was 100years ago and even if we didnt use any wood products we would still have to have loggers maintain the work that has been done and to conserve what we have.
Damn men, that was a HOOTER!! Nice work Petey, the ol 372 earned er oats for that one by golly.
Beautiful felling clip, really good work... I'm enjoying watching it over and over again..

The 48" bars are for the 12' cedars we have on the coast, something you've never see. You boys keep playing with your pecker poles. LOL
Take that one down with a 24" bar.
must be either up north in BC or out in Callie coastal range @@killingoldgrowthsince
@@njblanchard2618 anywhere on Vancouver Island or the the BC Coast. 250' tall Douglas Firs are quite common aswell and second growth up to 180'.
And Northern British Columbia the trees are small compared to the Coast.
Big wood makes fast loads , nice work 👍🏽

Most valuable wood is in the butt log so we cut as low As we can plus it helps for the stumps to be low for the equipment to roll over them
@@nuts319 I see, thanks for explaining!
sorry guys i had to lower it because i am scared of chainsaws sorry but i will work on i will
Nice, how many feet was in it?
Bobby Horn not sure it hasn’t made it to the landing yet
so....how many boards ??
Nice job Pete wonder how old it was
Todd Reynolds idk🤔
i love your videos you are one hell of a logger
Good one Pete.
nice job i always thought oak smelled like cat shit i have brought firewood in and watched a cat shit on the wood LOL
Big stick an nuts ? Hum ? Makes you think 🤔
troy skeese lol
Big 3120 with a 41" would put a hurtin on the nutsinator
I was wondering how it compared to that beast you cut a little while ago. HUGE!!! WOWZA!
a bout the same id say
How far are you from York PA?
Bout 4 hours
Good job
Why no humbolt or notch? How do you control direction by going all the way around like that????
Lol there was a notch it’s on the other side of the tree, there’s no way to control a tree with out one
I thought maybe you were magic or something...especially with that crazy root flair??? I was definitely curious about that. You definitely got after them wedges with that short handle...you got some swing on ya to drive them home. I’m a 5lb. Hammer fan to pound them home.
You cut a really nice stump

Lmao. Thats it on a damm bigfoot!!
Good fell and video right there. Real good.
Chuck Stevenson thanks buddy
what was the measurement in width ?. but im going to guess and say 5ft and half.
Hard to say that was some time ago it was over 5’
What does a tree like that bring in value bdft?
It really depends on the market but usually around a 1$ a board ft to the logger
nice pay day on that one
Stellar saw work !!!
Has red oak dropped price wise where your at? There giving little to nothing for trees like that where I’m from.
It’s in the shitter here, this job was for a mill
nuts319 it’s in the shitter here too man. When nice grade timber only averages 40 to 50 cents is pretty damn depressing.
Eli The Logger ikr
nuts319 have a good weekend man and keep it safe
Eli The Logger you to buddy
Damm nice cutting👍
Booyah!!
That's alotta lumber!
There isn't much better than the thump of a big tree like that when it hits the ground. If you could cut trees like that everyday!!.
Heal up quickly Pete
I thought I felt the ground shake now I no y lol
Thinking of you. May God heal your body, mind and spirit.
Hey Pete & Stumpy
