@@Racerx777 M2 coupe weighs over 3800. The 911 weighs over 3800 in some trims too, guess it isn't a real sports car. Most 911s slot in around 3650. Way to be a bigot.

You can very well imagine how it will be, probably almost like the current 718 in terms of handeling etc but with a bit more weight (which will be low so won't affect to much) and no sound and feel from a ICE drivetrain, with fully digital dash and interior.. I don't have to drive it to already know it won't be for me.. No matter how pretty it will look or how fast it will be or how well it will still handle etc.. I'll probably drive my 718 Boxster for a very very long time to come.. Until they ban it from the road as well..
The main question is, how many laps can it go until it starts overheating and reducing the power. Maximum range, weight and topspeed? It will be faster than the old Boxster on the first lap, but what happens on the second lap at the Nordschleife?
I'm thinking of buying this for my mom. What do you think? I don't think she wants an engine car because she drives a lot of short distances and needs a lot of maintenance. This is an easy and comfortable convertible electric car that even grandma can drive.
I don't get all the negativity and moaning. The 911 is still ice and the Taycan is known to be fun to drive and has a decent interior noise. So I've got faith that Porsche is gonna do what they do best, make a car that's great to drive 🤷
@ajfreshkid because no driver with skills wants a 3500 lbs + Boxster... Some of us know the only way to have excellent driving dynamics is with ligh weight. Weight is the enemy. It's the killer of fun
The Cayman was Porsches best platform, mid engine, lightweight, nimble, more affordable, bare bones sports-car. Adding this much weight and needing to supercharge on lengthy drives isn’t a great sales pitch. I’m sure it’ll be somewhat fun to drive especially for non driving enthusiasts and Tesla fans who brag over their cars 0-60 times. But they really had a great vehicle, introducing a hybrid system would’ve been so much better than completely going EV. I could see it in ten years when batteries are lighter and range is far superior but now seems too early after only 3 iterations to go full EV.
Just hoping it stays below 1500 kilograms. Otherwise i will wait to buy the second generation Alpine A110 instead. Which is confirmed to stay below 1400 kilograms.
I fear this will be the beginning of the end of the reasonably affordable Porsche Cayman/Boxster sportscar lineup.. Regulations (especially in the EU) will turn Porsche into a mainly EV 4-door SUV carbuilder (they already sell way more Macans and Cayenne's than any other model), with maybe only a few special ICE 911 models left in the end if still allowed.. We'll see what happens towards 2035 and onwards, but I'm pretty pesimistic as a (ICE Porsche) sportscar enthousiast..
Good Lord,...look how W I D E the rear track is!!!!! Edit,...and the width of the Rear T I R E S! Edit,...the you see the S I Z E of the Rear Brake DISC!
Better turning it into an EV, than down-sizeing it's engines. 2l 4-cyl turbo^^...THAT was the real disgrace. What would have come next, 1,5l 3-cyl? I would rather drive a silent EV Boxster, than a lawn mower engine powered Boxster.
Boxster comes from Boxer Engine and Roadster. So Boxster what? Maybe this car probably buries the idea of the future of e-mobility. Looks boring, sounds boring and way to much weight for a sports car that is known to be lightweight agile.
Stop all this madness and bring back the 6-cyl. base model! You cannot compete with China or even Tesla in the EV market. No one wants a Porsche with a big Chinese battery when you can get the same big Chinese battery for 1/3 the cost elsewhere.
because they're way too heavy. Inertia is a bitch and weight is the enemy. I've tested GT3 cars and race shifter karts. You obviously don't have a grasp of physics...
How UNinspiring, no exhaust=NO GOOD! A truly DUMB move on Porsches part. They should produce gas and electric for years to come, they've given the Macan a reprieve for at least an additional year.
Yes please. Preferably in the hardtop. This would be such and an amazing daily.
I'm looking forward to this car 🥰
Bad idea.
A year after release you will pick one up at 30% of new price.
with horrible design.
@@jayyoon7578 ? its got disguise panels stuck all over it!
Porsche did a tremendous job with the 992.2 GTS hybrid. But they slaughtered the Boxster/cayman with this disastrous drivetrain.
Could’ve just made a Taycan coupe and kept the Cayman ICE
Damn good point
Is gonna be OVERPRICED

I suspect the flat 6 will come back in a few years. Just like what happened with the flat 4 - people complained and Porsche came to their senses.
It’ll come back all right, but as long as it meets the minimum emission standards.
ive got the flat 4, theres nothing wrong with it
Porsche thinks they need to go EV. It's not what they actually wanted.
That’s true
Consider understanding the market beyond your American suburb
@C2B1303 as a 5 porsche owner living in Europe, I think what I'm talking about. EV is garbage.
Looks sharp. I wonder if this will have back seat option?
If you differentiate it by making it shorter or the space that the engine filled make it seat/parcel shelves.
