- We have been waiting for our lumber to be delivered and it's scheduled to be delivered in a couple days. The only problem is there is a storm coming over the weekend, and I think now we're in big trouble.

I have been watching for years and just wanted to take a moment to notice Allie's effort. The "product" of all your hard work, these videos, is excellent. I notice your techniques and flow you put into these and they really stand out to me. For example, all your transitions from one "chapter" to the next never get in the way of the story you are telling in that episode. That is art when your techniques dissappear behind the experience you are providing your audience. Keep it up girl.
indeed your editing, storytelling is brilliant.
Agree with Ray 100%!
I love Allie's work until she incessantly repeats everything said in the videos like we didn't just see and hear it all a second before. It really messes with the flow of the video and it's totally unnecessary.
And the music is point on!
Allie rocks! Melissa on Good Simple Living does too! She literally was her husband’s, Jeremy, Brandon on the home they built!
While I understand Brandon is also an employee. Which appears to have worked out well for both sides. But even as a friend and employee he goes so far above and beyond. And his attitude is amazing!
I'm guessing he loves his job, & his "boss"- who's more like a brother & coworker.
I take care of my 84 year old mother during the daytime. She just asked me, “what are Trent and Allie up to today?” She loves you guys! And Brandon! And of course Baby Leo
My husband was yelling, "DUDE, you have joists above you, a winch on your truck, and snatch blocks! What are you doing, lift them with physics!"
I am an 85 year old grandma and I have noticed that your coffee table has sharp corners.I England, when my children were young, we could get rubber "cuffs" for corners.. These would save Leo the odd bump as he totters around. Love to you all - Nana June
Pool noodles would help too
Also sharp corners on the dog watering bowl stand
In America, sharp corners make you tough. lol
They are available here, too, and we used them. Unfortunately, after one of our sons bumped his noggin on the edge of our headboard.
@@jordandale85 Not tough, just injured.
Install a work sink in garage, so you can wash things off like tools and ratchet straps. It will also keep you out of dog house for getting house dirty. Handy for cleaning car parts too
Robert is clearly a dude who KNOWS. 👍
and install a Pet shower in the garage...there are many yt vids on these.
Absolutely. My Dad was always working outside all day, every day. He had a daylight/walk-out basement. Whenever he entered the house, he came through the cellar entrance to de-mud, change his shoes, etc. He had a full (deep) sink where he could wash his hands or anything else. Then he'd proceed up the cellar stairs to the house. In his words, "I want to keep the house clean. It's the family environment."
I thought the same thing. Would definitely come in handy.
You’re so right because a lot of people don’t even have a sink next to the washer and dryer. I’m so happy my mom install the sink in the laundry room in this house that I inherited it makes life so much easier when you have access to a sink to wash things off. Definitely a must for you guys to do in the garage. One of those big utility sinks that are deep.
I can't believe Brandon didn't drop the box when he saw the mice running around inside! Such a calm person. That's startling.
No need to be scared of mice. As long as you're not mean to the little guys, they're very friendly. They're also amazingly smart, which means they make good little pets. Walt Disney knew this and is why he picked a mouse to be his cartoon hero.
That's a rat!
That was halarious lol
But they bite, no? Or they can, at least.
@@bevtrue6937 Not likely. Mice flee, not fight. The biggest concern is fleas & ticks.
Important!!! Luca (Sara and Luca) of Leave Everything and Wonder suffered several strokes. Sarah put out a video yesterday. I know you guys traveled with them in South America and became friends. I thought you would want to know.
One of my favorite things is to watch people figure out how to do something that seems normally impossible. Nice unloading! Also, why not put up a big sheet of plastic over the garage door opening to help keep in the heat until your doors get on? Love you guys!
Trent, Why did you not use the excavator to lift the latest edition to your garage? Remember, you only get issued with one backbone, Regards Robin.
you guys could use the excavator to lift the lifts off the trailer.. Maybe you can use the excavator to stand them up and ace them where you want. Thanks
get lost you scammer!!!!
Hey guys I have a couple of suggestions. Wear gloves while handling metal, Put up clear plastic garage doors to keep the heat in, if the candle will handle some weight on top, put a couple of flat bottom rocks on it to heat up. Alan
Excellent advice! I'm going to steal a couple of these tips.
Great tips! I was also going to suggest clear plastic for the garage doors.
White gloves are slippery...???🤔
You sir are a genius .ok just kidding 😂 😜
@@lauriewolhart5743 Yeap the clear plastic will let light in and let the sun help heat up the space
Did ou think about using the bobcat mini excavator that's sitting behind you?
I hope you reinforced the concrete slab where you are going to install the hoist cause with the weight of the hoist plus a vehicle on it, it will be to heavy for regular concrete and it will crack and break.
The world needs more men like Trent.
I was just thinking of Trent's Grandparents & esp your Grandfather, he taught You so many life lessons not to mention how to "work" on everything, esp cars/trucks which gave you a strong work ethic. He taught you well & how to do it correctly! LoveZ to Trent's Grandparents ❤️
I've been following you guys for a few years now and I just wanted to comment on the fact that not only do you know way more than I do about "stuff", but I really enjoy how kind and honest you are with everyone you come in contact with.
100% agree, well said! Trent stopping to help that guy on the snowy road before he got into trouble is a great example of his kindness and thoughtfulness.
Just an option, which is what I do. When putting things away (ie Rusty), make a list and keep it handy, either in Rusty (taped to the inside door) and/or on your computer, then if you are looking for something, you can just look at your list, rather than rummage through Rusty. It helps when you know you have something, but do not know where it is, gets worse as we age, lol.
Woo Hoo! Inventory that rascal!
I’m going to use this tip! Thanks!
I thought the same thing. Also might help to put a skinny half shelf on one side of Rusty so everything isn't just laying, piled up all over
Cover the doorways with tarps for now. Will make a HUGE difference in heat retention as well as blocking the wind.
I've also seen a long piece of scrap wood screwed to the bottom of the tarps so that they don't just flap all the time.
You guys were trying to lift those hoist frames by hand and I am yelling "You have an Engine HOIST 6 feet away!". Glad you finally heard me. Of course you have a Kubota tractor that can take a bucket system that can lift heavy items too. Another thought is that you could have used the Mini Ex to pick up the package outside of the garage, and maybe even reach it into it. Have some heavy straps if you still have it when the lumber comes as you could use it to move some of the wood stacks around.
I was wondering when someone would mention the mini excavator sitting right next to him 😂
That's funny!
🤦♀
Yep.. plus winch and pulleys and overhead beams in the garage.
Thank you I was waiting for someone to say it lol
Watching u struggle with the lift thinking to myself.. you have the excavator within view and u definitely have the clearance to use it , should have just used that with a strap and saved the possible back injury
Those baby Leo smiles make my day! My grand babies are teens now.
Can someone tell me if the videos are current or back a few weeks? I remember at the time they were three weeks behind.
Just don't give the mouse a cookie, because then he'll want a glass of milk, and you know what happens after that...
Being from Minnesota, I love the snow! It's beautiful on all of the trees, but I hope you guys get a clear window to get the lumber up to your site. Stay safe!
I made pads for my Son's fireplace door handles. Put them with the tool set that goes with the fireplace so can grab the pads and not burn your hands. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
The builders poured our foundation in January in the middle of a hard freeze in Indiana. They had the walls and roof built pre winter, and then made a tent of heavy plastic around the whole outside walls, added the heat source aka salamander to make the ground thaw and warm. They poured the foundation, waited for it to set, worked for the next 8 weeks and had the inside of our home finished by March. It was crazy.
Could u use the excavator to move the lift off the trailer?
When was the last time you guys cleaned your stove pipes? I saw a Lot of build up on the glass and I became concerned because my dad was a volunteer fireman for 40 yrs and he saw so many house fires due to build up in wood stoves. We lived in a 100 plus yr old farm house and heated with a wood stove while I was a child and I was always surprised how quickly there was build up. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings
Main entry for mice is chewing through the gasket on the bottom of the garage doors. You can upgrade to tougher ones :)
Allie, Trent has a tad of ADHD so i think you need to organize the space and make lists of what is where. Asking an ADHD person out there to get organized is like asking a non-singer to sing. However, ADHD people are the ones that think outside the box and come up with the solution. They have their talent too. ❤❤❤
I'm sure of it too, I have it and can see lots of symptoms within him. The anxiety can be a common comorbidity, that's also set off by adhd symptoms..
The frustrating thing about the fake messaging that says Telegram me is that I see it a lot, across many different channels. Every time I see it, I report it and you tube doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. I am hoping if enough people report it every time they see it, that you tube will finally pay attention and take action against these scammers.
Oh, Leo! What a nice picture, thumb in mouth and that smile ..... my heart melts 🙂
Use the backhoe to lift the car lift and set them in place, save your back I use my for lifting all the time.
I don't understand when you say it's a snowstorm, it's just a normal snowfall.
I hate to be Mr. 20/20 Hindsight, but when you have an excavator that will easily lift the load you were trying to move by hand, USE IT! Sometimes you have to think "outside the box", or in this instance, "Outside the Garage".
But if you haven't installed that car lift yet, that will make the job MUCH easier. Just be sure your rigging is secure, and stay clear. Once a heavy load starts to shift, it tends to go where it wants to go.
But at least that will save your backs. Work SMART not HARD.
Allie rocks at making these videos. Y'all both work so so so hard. Love watching what y'all are doing! Hope your backs are okay!
You can keep all the snow. We are just not ready for snow. Everyone stay safe. Walk in Peace.
You guys could hang some painter's drop cloth plastic over the garage door openings to help contain your heat, and still allow light inside
Or heavy duty tarps
Hang a Tarp or Tarps over the Opening where your Garage Doors would be. That will hold the heat in. You need to buy some Tarps to put over your Lumber anyway.
Ohhh I Loved the shot of Leo sucking his thumb 🥰 I swear that is the sweetest sight seeing babies self soothing 🥰🥰🥰
Bucket trap! Make em walk the plank! Oh and put clear plastic tarp/sheeting over the garage door openings until the doors show up to retain that heat.
You had an excavator right outside the door could have used that to move the lift
I wish I had a lift 😕
Should install the lift the bay furthest from the house. So your projects don’t block the door.
Thanks for mentioning the scam!! I was feeling as if I’d missed out talking to Eamon&Bec, now I don’t 👍
You can clean your wood stove glass with some wood cooled stove ash and water mixed together.
You need to get your outdoor furniture away. It will be ruined. I just got mine out away. Leo is so cute. That wee smile when Trent was holding him. ❤
not sure why you would unload the lift by hand with the mini there.
I love, love, love love your videos. The dogs, gorgeous Leo, the 3 adults, your adventures, andtrials or desastres while you work together. Your triumphs and challenges… the whole lot!!! Thanks for sharing yourselves with us 👌🏽♥️
Guys, you have an excavator on site and straps you can lift the towers and move them into place with it.
I love the way you look at each other, it’s all about love. 🙏🌼
You have garage rafters! You could have roped a bunch of them to an upper snatch block and unloaded those lift pillars easy as pie. Connected to the top end, you could set them up the same way. Work smarter, not harder.
Love the snow on the trees!! God has again painted a beautiful clean white world for you to enjoy! Love watching your progresses! One step at a time. Leo is growing so fast ( The true word of a grandma). Hard to believe he is almost a year old. Enjoy this time while you have it. It all comes to an end really fast ...then you have a teenager. Kathy
Could have used mini excavator or front end loader on tractor to unload lift.
I walk on the treadmill 40 minutes and do my morning chores so I can earn watching your videos and relaxing. Enjoy watching every video. Love how you take us along when it is good and when something goes wrong. Loved that you had the opportunity to clean out the trailer, you won’t be sorry.
❤
could you close in the garage doors with plastic til the doors arrive
Fingers crossed that the weather doesn't interfere with your progress. Stay safe.
Yeah you should hang up tarps on the doors and then you wouldn't have to lose all that heat you're making.
You guys killed it. Can't wait to see what's next. Leo's growing so fast. Beautiful Snow. Prayers for you getting your lumber.🙏🙏💕💕💕
Hi a tip for cleaning the glass on your wood burner get a damp cloth and dip it in the ashes and rub the paste on the glass. It's magic!
I gotta ask, is there a sign...a VERY VISIBLE sign, warning drivers without four wheel drive vehicles to NOT USE THE ROAD in WINTER conditions?
If common sense doesn’t tell you that your vehicle isn’t capable, than I don’t think a sign would do any good.
Look for your garage cat mouser at a feed store. You want a cat who is an experienced mouser, at least 6 months old and neutered.
If one just shows up, it will very likely be a pregnant female looking for a place to raise her family. Take her in. After the kittens are weened, get her, and the kittens neutered and spayed. Make sure Frank and Lieka know that the cat is part of the family.
I know this is hindsight but why didn't you use the excavator to unload the lift?
tarp in the doors to hold the heat and keep the blowing snow out
Thank you so much guys for informing me about the scam. Two other channels I watch (you guys were the first) have the same problem and I had no clue at all. It’s a good thing I didn’t know how to reply and hopefully everything will be OK with me. These scammers really take a nice thing and mess it up don’t they? Again thanks for taking the time to warn your public.
Great video as usual I love watching Allie help the guys because that’s what I used to do and I miss it. Kisses ❤
Have y’all considered rigging up a couple places in your garage ceiling to be able to hang a block and tackle or winch to assist in loading and unloading these heavy things. Also would be a good place to hang a hammock chair 😊
Turns out, Archimedes was in the middle of building a garage, where he developed his whole mechanical advantage concept. It started as, " give me a fulcrum and a long enough lever and I will move a chariot lift" but changed to world at final press.
So nice to hear Trent taking care of the young service people coming up the winding road. Great going Trent!!!
Why all the drama you know the snow was coming you are prepared we love you guys just move forward with the projects and allow use to do it without all your stress.
I have never missed one of you shows thank you do not make everyday full of stress
Thank you
Don
It’s for
RUclipsers that haven’t got a clue
I am sure it has been mentioned but why didn’t y’all use the mini excavator that you had sitting right there?🤔
For two people who lived in a van you sure have accumulated a lot of stuff! 😂
Can't believe you unloaded that lift with the excavator sitting just feet way from you :)
What I appreciate and love about your videos is seeing your entrepreneur side. My husband and I both run our own businesses and we’re still building them up and have lots of ups and downs. I know not everything runs smoothly behind the scenes!
That first snowfall is gorgeous. The sparkling trees look beautiful.
My Monday can start now that I have watched you. Thanks for being there. Hugs
Use the mini to do the heavy stuff on that lift install please!! Save your backs!!
You guys should have used the excavator for the unload good video work smarter not harder
You should use your tractor to lift them up that's what you got it for or even The activator would work save your backs you'll need a when you get older
I was thinking scissor lift so you could finish inside walls. Confused when I saw the car lift. Good luck with wood delivery. Thanks for sharing
My favorite moment of this video was Brandon's warm up moves. Priceless.
How come you didn’t use the mini ex to unload the lift?
Next gift idea? Appointments to a really good chiropractor! You guys amaze me on the work that you do and the Ingenuity that you put into seemingly impossible tasks. I appreciate all of it!
Hi guys! This is my suggestion regarding Rusty, why not utilize all your space in there by putting storage racks in? That way you will have shelves, that go up to the ceiling. You could even label spaces, or bends for certain items. 🤷🏾
I can't believe you two got that lift off your trailer. Holy sch*tt. Take care of your back. !!!
I love Trent’s morning greeting🤗
EVERY video, before he says it, I always say out loud “What’s up guys, and GOOOOOD morning!” 🤣🤣
Hopefully y’all get some Greg doors soon but if not cover the door ways with some plywood to keep in some heat
Dusty Rusty needs a few more wall hooks and side shelves. multiple levels make organization easier! hello winter!
That squealing was hilarious 😂 I kept playing it back. I laughed til I cried. 😂😂
Makes me realize that we could easily have snow here. I’m in Maine and it could snow anytime. The hunters would love it!!! I live on flat land so no problems like yours.
Enjoy you all so very much. I feel your stress when you are stressed!! Enjoy the love that I feel too!😊
Brandon. Your leg presses are priceless. 🎃
I'm a snow girl, the more the better. I have my fingers crossed for much snow this winter, doing the daily snow dance, complete with jazz hands.
To those asking why you didn't use the tools at hand to move the lift kit, it's easy to say those things when you are watching a video, it's another to be in the moment, like none of us haven't done something similar.
I feel bad for the wood mice, I hope you just set them free.
Thanks for the video. I have seen every one of your videos. I liked them all. You had an engine lift and a bobcat sitting just outside. I could not believe you guys were lifting that device by hand. I had two spinal operations in the last 10 years ( I am 82). You don't want to go that way, believe me. Please, be careful.
Why didn't you use the mini excavator to unload the lift?
If the nut has a groove in it then it is reverse thread. Now you can put a tarp over the garage doors and it will actually get pretty warm in there. You need shelves some heavy-duty ones for the garage and smaller ones for your trailer.
Thanks for being that helper. Modeling is the most powerful teacher. Love what you’re teaching those boys of yours!
Seems random...what boys?
@@Highvibes777 Trent has another wonderful son from a previous relationship...Joel . He is in numerous past episodes
Why didn’t you use the excavator bucket to lift the heavy pieces 🤔
I legit laughed so hard at Branden! What do I do!? I would have just automatically flung that container LOL
I would have totally peed myself :)
I know! He stayed so calm lol
I have a love/ hate relationship with the sound of crunching snow under foot/ tire...
It's so beautiful with all the snow in the trees
Hey for the upstairs apartment the side walls you can put cut outs into the wholes to help with storage great ideas for use of open space. Put flat doors .
We did that in a house we owned that had a barn shaped roof and dormer windows. We had drawers and cabinets built that fit into the walls between the studs, they backed into the empty hollow space between the walls and the roof sheathing. It freed floor space that would have been taken up for dressers in our small bedrooms.
Love your channel, great story telling! I’ve been watching since your South America days and want to wish Allie a very Happy Birthday coming up-we share the day🥳🎉
Put mothballs and dryer sheets in where the mice were or where are you do not Want mice to be. Those two items help to deter the mice from being in that location.
