Thanks, I came here after watched the abbot elementary schools, and I love the stories. I found this TEDx and hooked by the idea. Like our self and confident with our perspective that she said is trully important. 7 years till now, we still strugling with the beauty-image, but yeah somehow the world move to the good side and more appreciate the values.
That's so cool, I didn't realize that! Her shorts with Justin on Buzzfeed were always my favs so it makes sense she still has a working relationship with him on Abbott, that show is awesome!
funkydirection Do you keep up with her other activities? She's a whiner. If you want something in life, no matter what it is, don't complain about how something is unfair, just get up and go get it.
Sam S I complained once then my Uncle took me aside, gave me a stern talking to and set me straight. It's tough love for a tough world. It's just something you have to get used to.
When I watched Abbott Elementary, I thought Quinta was funny. Watching this, I realize she is so much more. Absolutely phenomenal. I await her appearances at women's conferences as the main speaker. She should be reaching more. I believe she will. Keep your eye on her.
The funny thing is that following quinta started from seeng how confident she was about her natural self before knowing all of this about her, it actually helped
I've always loved Quinta and now I know why! I feel as though I've seen this whole philosophy come through her actions and content. Thanks so much for this!
Kinda great how most of the responses to this are positive. Makes you remember that deep down we all really just want to be seen, heard, and valued. Also a supportive argument in favor of the idea that every single word and action you commit echoes forever, whether you want it to or not.
Regularly revisited this while in uni - from presenting in front of my class to meeting people, Quinta's Ted Talk really taught me so much about authenticity. Looking back, I never realised how I needed to hear her perspective and how impactful she is. Can't wait to see more of her vision come to life.
WOW her ability to break down subliminal messaging & the power of your subconcious in a way that the average person, who does not already know or study this, can completely understand is... just.. I have no words. Thank you!!!
Ondraya no I love her because she's and intelligent human being and she's somebody that I would want to be like some day. Why are you calling her racist and weak minded?
Maya Robinson She's racist because she's anti-white. She's weak minded because the only people suffering from what she talks about are those with a low iq. If you look around smart people know they are great and love themselves because they are smart. Intelligence is the only thing that matter.
Ondraya where'd you get the idea that she was anti-white and I think she was saying it's hard to love yourself as a black girl in America because when she was growing up she didn't see any one like her on any tv shoes or magazines...(l
Maya Robinson Through her other work and exposure. Also, if you notice there aren't a lot of Korean girls either, you know what they do? They get over it and live their life.
EXACTLY! I’ve been told how brave I am for wearing and Afro. It blows my mind. This comes from my own people. And when thy find out I like my 4c Afro, dark mocha skin and everything within thy ask me were it came from.
I love Quinta so much that I think I'm obsessed. She is such an inspiration and just when you think it stops there she brings a smile to your face with her comedic personality.❤️❤️
Quinta, you - your perspectives, especially on perspectives - they're amazing - please keep putting content into the world with your voice/experience/thought behind it. And if it turns out that's something you don't want to continue to do, I'll continue to be happy to have learned from you. Thank you for sharing yourself!
I hope you get to speak more at other places if possible. Thank you for having this talk. This is especially important for people of color including people of more than two races. This also leaks into other cultures like the LGBTQ+ community. It's really important to not judge yourself basing from consumerism and materialism. It helps others to love themselves more by not being apart of a culture's norm.
