I listened three times. First time not focussed on it " Wait What?" second time fully enjoyed though not with headphones, and third time to show my son.
That piano sounded a little too bright for that Glass etude; however, she definitely played it better than the composer ever could. Makes me melancholy for the tv show Succession . . . alternating between despair and tragedy . . .
@@renegrosheintz-laval9146 Well, first off, what pianist's hands! I bet he can cover a 10th with ease. As to his playing, a lovely and thoughtful rendition. (Live from the Yellow Lounge) His dynamic control was brilliant. It is never easy to play a melodic voice in MF with a harmonic voice in P, simultaneously in the same hand. I realize that isn't so hard for professionals, but it always impresses me.
The shoes were not the only dangerous items of apparel. If you wear a gown that trails on the floor,it's a good idea to make sure the hem stays away from your feet!
Personal opinion: Despite the main melody (which consists of around 10 notes) being beautiful, the whole song sounds empty and shallow. I feel this way about much of the most "famous" contemporary music. It lacks depth and doesn't have existential layers, only technical ones. There's so much chaos and noise around a few notes, making many songs sound almost the same. They may sound different, but what they deliver is essentially the same, as if they were all written by the same person. To me, this indicates an alarming lack of personality in people today, even in those who are acclaimed as artists. I am not talking about the pianists but those who compose the music that later will reach us at home through the main stream channel such as RUclips. Or maybe this type of music is a genre and I just don't like?
@@BruceBoschek it goes to "this music sounds like it was composed by an amateur kid compared to most of the music Yuja usually plays. This type of music well represents the lack of depth of our time and the lazy acceptance of anything that doesn't require an active involvement. It's the concept that this music represents that I don't like. It's a cliche composed a famous musician. Where is this going? I don't care, I am just sharing an opinion
You're a bit tough ! If you listen only to this one, you can't notice Glass' compositions are "always the same" 😅 And maybe you won't agree, but I think the way Yuja Wang plays it, makes it become melodic and even emotive. But that's only my mind... I love Miss Wang 😍
@@amanoutetue-miche6591 , , I understand what you mean, but tough or not, I'm quite certain that world-class classical musicians are tough by discipline; I'd be curious to know what they think of Glass' music. Banal is the word that comes to mind.
Same as I think of many contemporary composers - their pieces often consist of a simple melody with banal harmonic and dynamic variations. It is fine to create a mood in a movie scene, but sounds poor in a concert hall compared to Bach or Rachmaninov whose music has infinite variations and developments.

Yuja Wang!!!!! What a greatest gift from God! So so so perfectly magical!
A gift from God? What an exaggeration!
I don't believe in god, but I agree with the original comment.

Thank you! I didn’t know the name of the piece (That was my favourite among the encores)
Too good for us humans.

Listen to Vikingur Olafson play the second etude! The two are going to be playing together soon. What a concert that will be!!

Why was she wearing a pair of high heels that’s one size bigger on the stage? Wouldn’t that be dangerous?
When you order your shoes online ...😂
The shoes were not the only dangerous items of apparel. If you wear a gown that trails on the floor,it's a good idea to make sure the hem stays away from your feet!
You were looking at her HEELS??
Yuja was amazing! Although too many encores turns the event into a circus act vibe.
I’ve noticed that Chinese people very often wear shoes too big for them. Not racist, just stating a fact. Lots of Chinese people here. ❤️🇨🇦
There are many great female pianists around, they don't get the publicity. Full marks to yuja's marketing short skirts.
罁琴的聲音有些破?
Nice to see Yuja wearing some clothes 🤪

Да, есть кожа, есть кожезаменитель. Это второе.
Yuja Wang performing a composition by Phillip Glass is like Barack Obama delivering a speech written by Donald Trump.

Nonsense!
Why do you need to have a look to music sheet to play ?
Maybe she hasn't memorized this particular piece.
Does it make a difference?
Man this is Yuja, she can have a look at whatever she feels like when she plays.
She memorises more music than you've had hot meals.
Why do u need to spill nonsense?
