first day i got the bike, converted the vee tires to tubeless, 180ml per tire of stans. Waited for about 4 days, the air wont hold up as those days were raining here in socal, 5th day, rode it to a black trail, damn, sealant all around, tiny pin holes both tires. i might have a defective ones, but changed it right away to asse/dhr2 combo.
did you clean your rim before seating the tire? i had a similar problem .. turned out to be a small part of transparent foil or plastic stuck to the rim and even tho it was a small piece it was enough to make air leak.. lead to a big crash but thats part of the fun i guess
@@Ceriva09 my bad, its the walls of both vee tires had pinholes. probably 2 holes each side. called up the customer service, the guy said let it seal for couple of days, which i did. i do clean my rims before making it tubeless. The guy at vee seems to push that i need to let the sealant seal the holes. thats why i switched back to asse/dhr2, 1 day conversion, the next day ride, no problem at all
If you want to go fast with some aggressive tread try the Hutchison Bobcats, pleasantly surprised. Sidewalls aren't that stiff but very resistant to my local rock gardens. 28/32 psi
yeh, my sons Rift Zone has the same tyres in the 2.3... very slow rolling but very grippy. On my HT I run a Dissector up front and a Scorpion Trail R in the rear. Rolls really fast! Once his rear wears out, a faster roller will go on.. not sure what yet but likely a Dissector
I’ve always wanted to try a dissector in the rear. I wish tires were cheaper so I could try a lot more combos. Sounds like you got a fast rolling setup 🤙🏻
@@JaredHoff yeh either a dissector or Rekon, or the Pirelli Enduro R. My Trail R one is fast but does lack grip on tech climbs and braking is rubbish (considering I run the SLX 7120 both ends). I mention the Pirelli with ProWall.. I've given mine a right hiding (HT remember) and its still holding air, no pitch flats etc; Ridden decent stairs at speed.. edgy rocks etc.. its damn tough.. so I may very well go the Enduro R tyre next for both of us..But YES... they are expensive generally so its hard to test and try them..diminishing returns...
I had these on a Polygon Sisku T8, tried a similar hack with a High Roller 2 on the rear but was still sticking like glue so went full maxxis now instead. Shame really.
been in countless bike shops....that's the first one i see that sells the old tires.....so i guess that so called "hack" is not really applicable to everyone....
I hear ya. Maybe I should have used the word hack 🤷🏼♂️ I’ve never asked other bike shops what they do with their slightly used tires people leave behind 🤔 I know Bontrager and specialized tires are usually ditched pretty quick by riders. Especially on Enduro bikes.
Thanks man! The XR5 tire in the rear made this bike roll so much faster. I should have included a clip of that, but ran out of time when filming that 🤦🏼♂️
@@JaredHoff When I think "hack" I thought it might have been something you did to the tire. I definitely didn't think wholesale replacement of the tire. That's a super nice bike shop - I don't know that I've ever seen where I could get take-off tires for $6. Enjoyed the video regardless.
It's really cool how your bikeshop sells old tires. Wish mine did that!
They are an awesome local bike shop to have. They’ve helped support this channel a lot.
This is awesome dude 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Thank you 🤙🏻

Dang man sorry to hear that! I love that Maxxis tire combo you got.

@@JaredHoff trusted combo for me man 🤘

Awesome 👍 Getting the right set of tires makes all the difference
You can get those tyres in a smaller tread pattern, designed for the rear
That would be a lot better for the rear tire 👍
@JaredHoff for my racing I have the snap flow rear amd the snap wce top 40 up front 👌

Nice info and I love that background music
Thank you 🤙🏻 It really helps to get feedback like that. It’s hard to pick the right music and get the volume just right sometimes.
@@JaredHoff Welcome! Yep it can be tricky sometimes!
Oh man, you got my OCD all riled up. It's gonna be a 3 melatonin gummy night tonight!
LOL I hear ya 🤦🏼♂️ at least the Bontrager logo is pretty minimal
That was a cool video. Good budget hack.🎉
Thanks bro!
I gave those vee tires to one of my friends for his bike. I installed Continental Trail Kings 29x2.4 black chili and that bike comes alive…
Awesome 🤙🏻 I’ve been looking at continental tires. I want to try those someday, and I want to try pirelli scorpions in the near future

Maxxis for the win 🥇
That front tire will not last long ,but they stick great.
It definitely sticks. I’m really liking the setup with a faster rolling rear tire 🤘🏻
Great hack! $6 is a deal.
For sure! Some of the tires in the bin were almost new. But they weren’t the size I needed.
that is great for ice and snow
I crashed really hard one time on the ice. Never again! Lol

You keep using the word “hack” I do not think it means what you think it means.
You might be right. What would you call it?

@@JaredHoff Useful Tip, maybe more appropriate. A hack would be something to to enhance or make the tire better. Replacement isn’t a hack…
@@JaredHoff You replaced a tire, you didn't save it with a hack. Your clickbait title might be considered a hack, though.
This is not a hack. It's just buying a different fucking tire
Didn’t mean to make you mad man. Sorry ‘bout that 🤙🏻
