- British Airways retired the Boeing 757 from it's fleet after almost 28 years service with a series of 'shuttle' flights around the UK on the 30th October 2010. G-CPET was painted up in original 1983 livery to mark the event. And can be seen here arriving and departing. The first ever BA 757 visted GLA some 27 plus years prior in February 1983 and was registered G-BIKB.
Just found this video, what delight. I flew the beautiful bird based out of Glasgow for 4 years as a First Officer and in and out as a skipper for 6 months until 9/11. Happy days, sadly retired..........
Boeing's best looking aircraft. Best climb rate of all passenger jets. Good safety record. Will be sadly missed.
fingerhorn4 yep, they didn't fuck about on takeoff.
Agreed. Amazing engine sound on takeoff also!!!
@@VoraciousAvgeek Ah yes that's a big one for us Aviation enthusiasts
I saw an Aer lingus one take off from a few miles from Dublin airport. Like a rocket.
One of the best single aisle aeroplanes ever built
That livery and the B757: perfect!
Beautiful Bird and my Bird of Choice.
My first ever flight on a 757 was with BA in ‘87 which was also my very first flight with BA (only because of missing my connecting KLM flight to AMS). Very friendly inflight service and very very impressive take-off performance. I travel quite a bit on BA’s A319/320/321 but it’s not quite the same.
Really thanks. Fantastic documentary for this special moment.
Superb video Allen. Got to love the 757!
A fantastic video. While living in the UK in the late 1970's, I recall a very pleasant flight from London to Edinburgh on board a British Airways 757. I vividly recall a very nice cooked breakfast, which surprised us, as it isn't a really long flight. The 757 is a great aircraft.
Well done. Brilliant work, this is a brilliant aircraft, absolutely delightful to fly.
One of my favorite planes! It’s beautiful design it’s breathtaking- And I was always amazed how quickly it claims comparing to any other aircraft there is steep and fast! Will be missed- So glad I had a opportunity to fly BA to UK 🇬🇧 from 🇷🇺 LED -LHR And domestic flights.. Will miss it’s comfortable seats 💺 🥺
Very very elegant designed aircraft, always liked her very much! To me the best" British Airways" Livery ever.
I bet mile high club was busy that day
until you see the Landor 747
Sorry for getting in the way of your footage of the takeoff roll... I was the guilty party atop the stairs... !
Now thats what i call a 757 departure!
Wish BA had hung on to the B757's, they are truly a wonderful aircraft!
+777 London Flyer The planes were quite old
+Speedbird Do you have an idea how old they were in fact by the time they were phased out?
+Lichtstrahl92
Up to 28 years old
G-CPET and her sister ships that were the last in BA service were built around 1998-99.
The 757 gave BA great service; good reliability and safety record. Many a happy hour did I fly in the BA 757's as a passenger. I am pleased to see they have all gone onto DHL and a new lease of life as freighters.
I fly on Delta’s 757s fairly regularly - they always offer a nice ride and are very modern on the inside with the Sky Interior. Beats riding in a A319/320/321 any day in my opinion.
Kyle Niquette 757 beats those planes anytime and any day
OMG THIS IS AMAZING. I CANT BELIVE I MISSED THIS,. MY FAVE AIRILINER IN MY FAVE SCHEME OH THE NOSTALGIA. THEY LOOK SO MUCH BETTER LIKE THIS
THE MISSING RETRO!!
G-EUPJ
G-BYGC
G-CIVB
G-CPET
G-BNLY
All other aircraft
Call me old fashioned, but I much preferred the old BA paint work
Beautiful never knew BA have 757
They were joint launch customer with Eastern in 1978.
I would be so sad :( I fell in love with the 757 the first time I saw it on a BA poster
Pretty sure British Airways still has 3 in its fleet but under the open skies name but they are operated like private jets.
747s are always my favorite.
Queen of the Skies
757 was my favorite narrow body aircraft.
Love the old livery
So sad, a beautiful aircraft in every respect, the sound alone would stop you in your tracks.
awww so sad their gone. In fact this is the best Boeing 757 video I've watched.
That was majestic. Love the livery
Nice video Allen.
Referring to BAflyer787's comment, DHL bought all British Airways' RB211-535C engined B757s, converted them to freighters, and they are still going strong; 22 of them are on the UK register and still with their original registrations.
G-BIKB is now operated by DHL airline European Air Transport as D-ALEB. They also operate G-BIKY under the new registration D-ALEK, which will interest British Sci-Fi fans out there no doubt.
Great livery. So classy.
Just found this. Very nice. Thanks for sharing!!
What a plane!
Now the 767 depart too 😢 I’m gonna miss those RB211s
And now the 747!!!
A whole ten years ago now, wow !
@LTF85199 "PET" refers to the unique part of the aircraft's registration mark. This particular aircraft was G-CPET, other BA 757's had similar reg's... G-CPEO, G-CPER etc etc...
Loved this, thanks for the video 👍
Would look great if BA went back to the tail and modernized the fuselage design a bit. The tail design looks quite modern.
What a BEAUTIFUL BIRD...CLAD in the BEST BRITISH AIRWAYS livery!
I have fallen in love with it!! ;-)
@88mroux The traditional Shuttle routes have been replaced with the Airbus A319/A320/A321, certain European routes too but with the 767 as well.
Brilliant Video!!
My dad drives the Q8 tanker in the background!!!!!
3:06 The plane passes so close to the jet bridge, at least this is the impression from the camera perspective!
I was standing on an spare set of boarding steps beside the airbridge as I filmed it.
the 757's will all disappear in years to come great airplane im sad to see it go thankfully im flying on one next Monday from los angeles to Newark on united that will be the 5th time I have flown on the aircraft from eastern to delta and united
Note former BA 757 G-CPEU now of Thomson in the background...
Nice video.Well executed!
reminds me of the 'fly the flag' era, sighs with nostalgia
B757 is best forever
I love the 757 much better then the Airbus A320/21
Just another Boeing masterpiece!!! However, I'd still like to see the Lockheed L1011 brought back without the DIRTY gov. politics that went on between the Lockheed and the bad history of the DC-10.
Still flying with RNZAF for VIP transport 2023, sadly frequent breakdowns.
i have never saw that type of british airways i always see the other ones
Quality.
best looking plane Mr Boeing ever made, very pretty to look at. Sexy undercarriage like the later Comets and Concorde and a pretty face too. Probably replaced by A-319, 320 or 321. Bloody things !
Nice 🙂✌
Which camera was used?!
Can anyone tell me what was wrong with this (or the Landor) livery? Neat, tidy, dignified, and, easily recognizable. Why on earth they let that vandal introduce those terrible "world tails" is beyond me.
What happened to those 757s ? Were they sold or they are waiting to be destroyed in the hangar ?
Why does it say "PET" on different parts of the fuselage? I seen this on several planes
Qantas 32 happened when this video was uploaded
The a380 in the backround?
Boeing 777-300 of Emirates, the A380 didn't operate to GLA until 2019 with the exception of a single PR visit in 2014.
Why have they retired 757 from their fleet?
What registration has the q8
Ppl I work with in this vid
Why there stop it
Ricardo sam not very economic nor efficient to operate and British Airways will be replacing it with more modern aircraft like the A321neo
I see
Anyone travel on BA flight ? Need some advice booking flight on BA my very first time
I was abducted into one of 12 story high bulding behing the plane in 2008
4:05 He says the 757 is the "first jet aircraft I flew... 8 years ago". So that has him starting on the 757 roughly November 2002. As far as I remember BA didn't operate any non jet aircraft before then and stopped recruiting pilots from outside after 9/11 a year before hand. Am I missing something or is his maths/ story a little wonky?
I think they were still taking cadets on.
He could of flown for another airline?
In this landing, the tall biuldings behind the British Airways aircraft in witch i was expirrianced an sexsual assault, it is an law inforcment document !
A far cry from the trident....also known as the ground hog.... cos it would really prefer to stay on the ground
Known as the "ground gripper".
I think BA should buy A330
The Iraqi Doctor was bow up himself in glasfow airport with petrol bomb in 2007 couze he was reap victime in the UK
And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you pesky ramp-rats !!! lol
