The Burbs - Square One End Credits

- The Burbs is one of Goldsmith's most creative pieces of work he ever made. The entire score has shooting guns, barking dogs, and shattering glass and jumps from Gothic organs to Western rhythms in an instant. Not to mention the fact that each character is given their own theme even if it's so absurdly out of place and seems as if it belongs in an entirely different genre of film. Also lets not forget the big kicker that Jerry Goldsmith pokes fun at himself here which will make veteran Goldsmith listeners fall over from laughter. The echoing brass motif from Patton through out the score will bring a smirk to your face and so will just about everything else that Goldsmith throws at you.
"Neighborhood Watch" offers a string motif which is later on meshed with an odd sounding instrument which I guessing is some sort of toy? I'm still baffled by most of what goes on in this score and I can't even make sense of it all to be honest. Though I must say that the use of the Organ is nice since it does offer a very Gothic feel to the entire score and strangely balances out the odd sound effects that Goldsmith utilizes.
"A Nightmare in the 'Burbs" is also one of the more bizarre tracks in the album with it's exotic jungle drums playing along with the Organ and add to that some seductive female vocals with a harsh sounding violin might make you have a "WTF?" moment (excuse my crudeness).
The End Credits role all of the genres presented in the score into one lovely suite. Filled with the experimentation and quirky instruments and even the Patton theme this is really an odd score but probably Goldsmith's best comedy score. If the final cue of the track doesn't leave you smiling or laughing then I think you need to be committed because this score brings nothing but sheer absurd joy to your ears.
"God, I love this street!"
This track IS Jerry Goldsmith. A career in 4 minutes 16 seconds. Utterly wonderful.
Pure genius
One of, it not my all time fav movies! So underrated.
The music is one of the most memorable parts of the whole movie.
Jerry Goldsmith is legendary and he had his own sound. Rambo, The Omen, Twilight Zone the movie. The list is endless. RIP.
Most underrated score EVER.
This might be the greatest film ever made
Na its Condorman or Howard the Duck.

This is perfect, Jerry Goldsmith is undoubtedly a genius
the mix of spaghetti western themes with spooky effects is amazing!!!
Gets me so pumped I had to find an upload where you're able to comment. The juxtaposition from the lush, tranquil contentment embodying the Suburban setting to the determined, inspirational triumph that perfectly captures the journey of Ray, Art and Rumsfield's neighbourhood mission. A legendary soundtrack, one of the best musical scores for one of the best movies.
Jerry was an innovative genius. No doubt about it! Sorely missed..
I've never seen that. I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the street and then bang the hell out of it with a stick. I...I've never seen that.
"The pizza dude!" xD lol
"Hey hi Ray! oh..what're you guys eatin in there!?"
Best soundtrack ever and my favorite comedy!!!!!!

God I miss Jerry Goldsmith so much
"Another neighbor?"
"A fat one." 😂😂
One of my family's favorite movies!!! We watch it every Halloween. The score is one of the best ever. Every character is absolutely fabulous. My daughter's favorite line is, "This must be hard on you Hans." My favorite line is, "They're probably digging for night crawlers." I find myself liking different characters at different times. My daughter absolutely hated Ricky Butler, now she loves him. My son loves, "And a thermostat on a home furnace... Is that supposed to go to 5,000 degrees, do you think?" This is SO MUCH FUN!
RIP Carrie Fisher you played the perfect wife in this flick loved star wars and drop dead fred
Jeff Dougherty Omg I thought I was the only one in the world thinking of this music with her in mind!! nice to know I'm not alone!
she was in drop dead fred? I dont' even recall that, but then it has been 20 plus years since i've seen it lol

Great piece of music. They don't make soundtracks like this anymore.
God I love this movie
It's a perfect movie
Patton + Twilight Zone + The Gremlins, love this...
One of my favourite movies all time! Pretty awesome score too.
This soundtrack is if 'Gremlins' and 'Rambo' had a kid.
skip's family's bodies, decomposing in the summer heat
Hi! Your House Stinks!
6 dislikes? Wow. Although when I was a kid this ending some made me sad because the burbs was my favorite movie and it was over
"That kid next-door is a meatball"~Rumsfeild

Best bass progression
Best movie ever

Hey, Mrs. Rumsfield, no tan lines. Looks nice.
Bruce Dern made this movie.
Yo Rumsfield!
God I love this street!
Ray, this is Walter...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's still a lot of music of his that I need to listen too. He was at his best during the Bronze Age which took place during late 70s through out most of the 80s and early 90s.
I own the Varese Sarabande 25th Anniversary Volume 2 compilation and it has the End Credits from The 'Burbs on there. It's one of the only tracks on that compilation thus far (I've listened through up to halfway of disc 3) that I come back to often, it's just that great. I haven't heard 95% of Goldsmith's entire output but he hasn't let me down yet.
Still watch this film every time it's on such a great film
thank you so much for posting this, i basically live on metal & techno, but it's these scores that really give me a feeling.
thanks again.
It sure was...damp...today.
I love this theme so relaxing good movie too
"yoooooo rumsfield"
Lovely tune. Love since firs time I saw this hilarious movie.
My favorite part is from 0:54 to 2:16
Prateek Sharma Same. That's why i came here looking for the track. That part reminds me of the Gremlins soundtrack a lot.
+Chris Jones There's no other word for it but 'badass'! It gives off this cool mysterious western vibe, i love it.
Prateek Sharma same!
Thank you for sharing, I have been looking for this for years.
Hey Ricky... get this laymo off my yard
I love this music so well composed
Perfection
@CrazyDancingJoe Totally feel you, that faux western theme is one of the best "hero" themes ever. Who knew a late 80's dark comedy could have such an awesome score?
that might have been the best movie of my childhood.
and perhaps not only mine :D
Hey one of the huns has come outta the cave
What a movie
great theme, thanks
sntk has been out of print for like 40 yrs. not on amazon mp3!!! where can i get this besides downloading a youtube burner lol
Does anyone know what the song is when ray and art are slowly walking to the house with the close-ups and all about to ring the doorbell for the first time?
I loooove the main theme of the 'Burbs, it's hell of a lot better than the movie itself!
How cool is it that such a great comedy movie has such an epic sounding theme?? ^_^ haha what @CrazyDancingJoe said is absolutely right.
Sardine?
thanks for this great theme
:55 - 2:10 is my favorite part. The military song is also great
YO RUMSFIELD!!! xD

Thank you SO much for putting this up. From :55 to 2:20, this song makes me feel like I could punch God in the nuts and get away with it.

@BoosterSilver LMFAO LOL XD
I hate when people post comments twice
dark humor at it's best! great movie.
I loved this movie. Movies just aren't fun anymore. Sure, there are many funny ones, but the fun is lacking. I saw this in the theatre.
Can't find this on iTunes?
+gunther adbquhab Yeah it sucks, I had to buy it on CD from Amazon, unfortunately. But trust me, it's worth the wait.
Poltergeist theme vibe...
Saftey is my middle name!
