To be honest, Rihanna has always been about fashion, she doesn’t care about making music anymore. I have a feeling if she drops an album this year, it’ll probably be her last. there’s nothing left for her to do music wise, she already solidified herself as a music legend.
Honestly, I don’t blame Rihanna if she ever publicly retires from music altogether. From 2005-2016, she was constantly working, released a new album for 5 consecutive years, (2008-2012), touring, promoting every album and single, and performing at every televised event. She was definitely burnt out since her last album in 2016 and since she’s now making way more money from her cosmetics line than her music, why would she’d go back to the music industry , where she has to work more and make less money? Especially because she’s a mother of 2 babies and wants to spend more time with them.

Everyone wants everyone to be the same it’s tiring. These are two amazing women giving us music catalogs that are amazing. We love Beyoncé and Rihanna equally at this point. Rihanna is our FASHION Queen. NO one understands how BIG Rihanna was during Good Girl Gone Bad unless you lived through it. It was wild back then for real.
I remember back during Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad” Era in 2007. When her song “Umbrella” blew up, almost every girl I knew had cut their hair short like Rihanna’s! I think that was the moment when Rihanna became a fashion trend setter, going forward in her career.

Exactly, these people are delusional. Pon de Replay was recorded before Rihanna stepped foot in Def Jam. She literally performed it for Jay-Z. It was a hit and he knew it. That’s why he didn’t let her leave without signing. Vocal skills, acclaim, stage presence, and touring force.
But Rihanna exceeds Bey in these: Fashion, business venture, total records sales, and versatility in genres.
I agree, I feel like Beyoncé is more of an “artistic” type while Rihanna is more of a “business type” when it comes to their music. Beyoncé is more likely to take risks and experiment with her music while Rihanna is more focused on making music that are, radio-friendly bangers that will sell and make lots of money!

Also that album took a huge risk, that’s why it’s called Anti it’s the Anti-Pop record and wasn’t like anything her peers were doing at the time. Plus the way it blends a whole bunch of genres all into one and it works is nothing short of genius. To summon Rihanna up as someone who’s just focused on making radio friendly hits wouldn’t be a complete injustice to her discography.

@fan7708- I definitely agree with everything you’ve said about her Anti album because it’s definitely her most “experimental” album and I love how many different types of genres she incorporated into it. But Anti still has those quintessential number #1 bops meant for commercial success. Honestly, calling Rihanna a “business woman” is not a bad thing! That’s a compliment to her! At the end of the day, the music industry will always be a business first. The business is cutthroat, and an artist’s longevity, depends on how much money their music makes. Rihanna knew the assignment and absolutely dominated the industry and left her mark. That’s something to be proud of!
I love both singers, and while I think Beyonce is the queen of performance (even in a recent conversation with Nate Burleson, Rihanna admitted that she watched Bey's Superbowl performances a few times for inspiration), in terms of world music hits, Rihanna has become a real powerhouse.
Imo both have iconic status, Beyonce is the queen of performance and vocals, and Rihanna is the queen of worldwide hits.
I think Beyonce's songs would have been bigger hits, but she just chose different marketing strategies - I have a feeling she is more of an album artist now and doesn't care so much about music charts. She added Lemonade on Spotify a few years after the album's release, no promotion for The Gift album, no visual for Renaissance etc.
I also think that 4 "flopped" because it was leaked before its release, and Beyoncé went more towards R&B while the world was dominated by typical EDM, of which Rihanna is the queen.
To be honest, i always have perceived the changes and experiments on the Self Titled and on the next albums as a natural evolution of Beyonce's work and it's hard for me to say whether it could have been inspired by Rihanna - the beginning of the 2010s is a time of completely different music trends than in the 00s, so I think changes in creativity were characteristic for many leading artists of that period.
There will always be a comparison between the Two, because if there isn't any, they will not have been accomplish as they are now..... And with what we have all observed is that Beyonce is a power hungry artist, who craves for Awards even when she doesn't deserve it. And when ever you hear Rihanna talk about Beyonce, its always a neutral talk of admiration. But you can hardly hear Beyonce accolade any artist... Beyonce is more after the Awatds and Charts while Rihanna gets hers effortlessly.
Till today Beyonce Inspired Rihanna to be an artist, but Rihanna inspired Beyonce to level up her game.

I think it is so funny that we are comparing them when if you think about it, both artists are in not the top 1% of artists, they are in the top .01% of artists. They are both insanely, INSANELY successful. Like if the avg quota for a pop star is to have 2-3 hit albums, BOTH have surpassed that, hell surpassed DOUBLE that with both having 7+ multi platinum albums.
Truly, I can understand why their fan bases can be so volatile when defending them but I have no choice but to be amazed by them as ARTISTS. Like DAMN! Both are anomalies, and both are amazing. They are different, but both amazing.

Surpassed in what? Not artistic talent and performing. Sales and reliability, sure. Rihanna isn’t even Beyoncé’s musical peer, at least not from the start. Beyoncé is adored and praised by Legends for her craft in everything from vocals to performing to creativity. Beyoncé doesn’t have to be known for anything else when her passion since Girls Tyme has been music. She’s 25 years in her career and always taking risks despite what fans expect. She’s so discredited. It’s funny because people will favor Rihanna’s vibe while diminishing Beyoncé as a person then wondering why she’s such a private artist. I’m glad she learns from the best like Prince and is about art first.
Why post this on the day she’s performing? You really didn’t need to bring Beyoncé into this. They’re both successful woman at the end of the day. But since you started it, Rihanna has some huge hits, potentially more than Beyoncé not going to lie (although none are as big as Halo) however what makes Beyoncé win is her album tracks/deep cuts are a lot better and tend to be more popular than Rihanna's album tracks/deep with the exception of their last studio album.. ANTI has a lot more successful hits and album tracks than Lemonade does. However beyonce is still the bigger artist to me, Rihanna never had 15 MILLION people worldwide trying to buy tickets for her stadium tour..

I know people may be offended but this is just my opinion. Rihanna is very basic. Her music, her performances, and her singing. Not much to it.
However, Rihanna is more relatable then Beyoncé. She makes more relatable music and you get to see more of her personality which is why I think people prefer her over Beyoncé.

Rihanna has mostly hits due to collabs and features, beyonce has mostly solo success. If we go by music alone Beyoncé is more famous and popular. Beyoncé makes less commercial sounding music yet has first 7 consecutive number 1 albums (first artist to ever do this), Beyonce is also a much more talented artist instead of just being an entertainer, Beyonce is also Gorgeous. Beyonce also has much higher tour gross and awards and has sold 220 million records, although Rihanna has sold 275 million records, her highest selling singles aren't even hers. She IS now an A lister and I do like her but she isn't on Beyoncé's level. Rihanna would disagree as she pointed out Beyoncé is her idol

If you add the total number of records sold by Destiny’s Child with Beyonce’s overall sales numbers, it would probably be about even or a little more than Rihanna’s total record sales. I think it’s fair to add in Destiny’s Child with Beyoncé’s solo career.

Watch the crowds during performances of Black Parade and Formation. Actually, watch the crowds as she sings anything after the Crazy in Love album. In terms of relatability, I relate to Beyonce more. I'm 41 and it seems we have gone through similar things in life: working hard in our careers while caring for a family, and now using our time for what matters most while letting loose to be our grown a** selves - a cultural point the narrator may not get (Listen to Church Girl and all consider her having to break free from her father being her manager.). I was never the biggest fan, but the reasons above are why the Renaissance album resonated so much with me.

They were not auditioning. Rihanna had already been signed AND had a hit record. Stop basing Rihanna success on Beyoncé. Rihanna after this showcase literally still had to fund her own music videos bc her label didn’t think her direction(Good Girl Gone Bad era)was going to be successful.

Okay I feel like her saying Beyonce is her idle what's staged and she was forced to say that. It didn't seem very natural or genuine I'm not saying she didn't like Beyonce it just seems very forced. And yes the Rock Nation wanted to make her into a Beyonce a Beyonce wannabe . Beyonce definitely gives off I'm classy on the queen and I look down on you other females.
