  • I feel this is a very seasonal recipe as we do not find crabs all the time but whenever we manage to get hands on them do not forget to prepare this Xec Xec recipe
    Serves 6-8 people
    Ingredients
    6 crabs
    11/4 cup coconut
    2 1/2 onions
    10 cloves
    1 tsp peppercorns
    1 tsp cumin seeds
    11/4 inch cinnamon stick
    2 tbsp coriander seeds
    1 Small tamarind ball
    1/2 mace
    8 Kashmiri chillies
    1 inch ginger
    6-8 garlic cloves
    1 small Maggie cube
    2 green chillies
    1 tsp vinegar
    Salt for seasoning
    Oil for frying
    Fresh coriander for seasoning
    Method
    1. Clean and wash the crabs , season with some salt and keep aside
    2. Dry roast 1/2 an onions , coconut , ginger and garlic
    3. Dry roast the spices
    4. Dry roast the chillies separately
    5. Once cooled add about 1 cup water (as needed) and grind the masala into a fine paste
    6. Next in a utensil add oil as needed and sauté the rest do the onions and chillies
    7. Once that’s done add the masala and cook it for about 2 minutes on a low flame
    8. Next add the crabs Mix it well with the masala and then add about 1-1/2 cup water as needed and let it cook for about 20-25 minutes
    9. Add salt , a little bit of sugar if needed along with 1 tsp. Vinegar
