He drove up and had this song blaring with the windows down. For some reason a fun memory that was fixed in my mind . Thanks for the memory!!

When ever friends start talking concerts...like "your favorite"... or "your first"...a very happy answer from me is telling them Pablo Cruise was my first real concert.. Medford Oregon. Great time too...
@Code.Name.V This band paid their dues. They came to Winston Salem and played Rittenhouse Square. Basically a huge pool hall with a stage. Cover charge to see this band, $5. Those were the days. When Disco hit, they took out all but a few pool tables and enlarged the stage. Changed the name to Casablanca. They played this thing called music. Used musical instruments and their own unaugmented voices. Imagine that, real live talent. ☕️☕️🎶🎵🎶
@@ProfessorofRock My mom and dad managed a bar with a small casino in a very small town. I’d walk straight to the bar after school (3rd grade). My mom would give me quarters marked with nail polish and tell me to pick out songs on the jukebox. It was Leo Sayer, Disco Duck, Joy to the World, and What You Gonna Do by….Pablo Cruise. Every. Single. Day. For. A. Year. Damn, I can still hear the lead off and the first few notes echoing through that place.
Absolutely love, love, love this band. Nothing says ‘70’s California like Pablo Cruise. Love the voices and the musicianship is second to none. Corey is one killer pianist. They just make me feel good.
Pablo Cruise is one of my absolute favorite bands and their musical stylings are one of the earworms whenever I make my playlist for travel. I ESPECIALLY love, "Always Be Together" because of the expression of the vocalist and the absolutely HAUNTING instrumentation. It's good to see the guys again. Thanks for this presentation.

Thanks for this PoR!! I want to apologize profusely to Pablo Cruise for me thinking all these decades that, "Whatcha Gonna Do" was the Doobie Brothers. 😞
I thought for years Love is Alive ( Gary Wright) was the Doobie Bros. I respected the Doobie Bros because of their versatility but I thought they were just okay. Except for Long Train Running, I still love that song.
We used to buy K-tel cassettes, I remember there was one or two Pablo Cruise songs on them. That’s how I knew the band. Forgot all about them until now!
One of my favorites from the late 70's! Every time I hear a Pablo Cruise song it takes me back to those great times! Awesome interview! Thanks for sharing Professor! And thanks for keeping the music alive!👍
I played the heck outta this 45 and then bought the album. There is so much going on in this song you can definitely put a lot of time and love into making it great. I have to see them on tour if they play close enough, there's talent throughout this band. Great interview and episode, another case of the band being impressed with your in-depth knowledge!
Yup. Awesome group and awesome music! Takes ya right back! Nice guys too! I enjoyed this! Cheers! 👍🏻😋
Yes but yet “Love will find a way” doesn’t make me gag like “Lick it up” does 😂😂😂 Seriously “Worlds Away” was one of my first albums and I still love it today. Thanks Professor for talking about them!! 👍🏼
Love will find a way ! 11 years old and my first time hearing music on headphones in a 747 over the Atlantic seeing the sunlight reflecting off the top of clouds listening to this heavenly smooth optimistic song. The rich melody and soothing sounds just astounded me. It burned into my memory and now just melts my tension away like slipping into a warm bath. Better times that were and better times to come. Because love will find a way. Thanks for your hard work and wonderful channel bringing us these priceless bits of music into our lives once again. 😇🙏🏽👍❤️
Smoothest song would have to go one of Bread's songs but it's difficult to just pick one. Christopher Cross also comes to mind as fitting into this genre of music. I was in Grade 11 when Pablo Cruise were somewhat popular. Like you, I always thought Pablo must be one of the band members. It's always cool to see the appreciation they have for a man such Adam who takes the time to educate himself on such things. A Font of music knowledge he is.
I got my first taste of music listening to my older siblings' 70s music - Jimmy Buffett, Pink Floyd, Foreigner, Steve Miller and Pablo Cruise. Have listened to and loved their music for awhile now. 😊
When I was growing up, this style of music wasn't called yacht rock, but soft rock or AM radio. I never liked the term "yacht rock" but I have fond memories of it. If calling it "yacht rock" keeps the music alive, I can live with it. I always thought Pable Cruise was the name of one of the guys in the band! Lol! And I can't stand Will Ferrell movies or skits because is essentially the same character ever time (although his portrayal of Alex Trebek is exellent).
Right there with you. Will Ferrell is sort of the Gomer Pyle of his time. Trades a lot on embarrassment for the jokes, and I dislike that feeling. This music, though, was excellent!
Having seen a number of groups in concert over the years, I realized early on that not all bands lived up to their studio recordings. These guys were just as tight live as their recordings, and even better as they could riff and stretch instrumental solos and really play to the crowd. Definitely one of the gems of their era.
I saw Pablo Cruise at a concert in Portland Oregon and Place in the Sun had just come out and I had never heard of them. They were one of the opening acts for Manfred Mann. Well suffice it to say that Manfred Mann was not having a very good night because halfway through their set the crowd started chanting “we want Pablo, we want Pablo” it was kind of sad for Manfred Mann but it was a fact that Pablo Cruise had pun intended, blown them out of the water. After that show I went and bought all their albums and have been a fan ever since.
My father absolutely loved Pablo Cruise's cover of "I Go to Rio". Because of that, "Worlds Away" was played a lot in my house. In fact I still listen to the album today. An excellent album that has definitely stood the test of time.
My memories of the 70s seem inexorably linked to the music that seemed to always be playing in the background. Whether when in the car driving to our destinations, either in town or on the road during Summer vacations, or playing nearby at the golfclub swimming pool (where i spent many days every week, all Summer long)... I hear these songs and I am immediately back then in my heart... It;s almost therapeutic!
Always liked Pablo Cruise. Glad you got a sit-down with those guys. Very cool. Professor, you must be living the dream interviewing all these guys you grew up listening to, and I hope THEY appreciate your passion for their art!
I remember when they came to Las Vegas with Ambrosia, Little River Band, Air Supply I went with this girl who was 6'5" aunt who was French Ethiopian and Cherokee. She was beautiful she danced in the Follies Berger. She was tall light skinned she had the clearest complexion. I got the tickets 🎟 and I was playdoh in her hands 🙌 I was tall young and firm. She had her way with me. Our song was Truly By Lionel Ritchie! I can still smell her. I remember the last time I saw 👀 her. I played that song for her on the piano. 😭😢😭
@@midasapprentice8670 I don't know. The last time I saw her neice was in the 90's. She said she had asked about me. But she didn't know that we had anything physically going on. She talked about me taking her to concerts and her coming to the radio station I worked at.
Pablo Cruise has unique qualities to their music that made them stand out in the 1980’s, as well as today. The baseline in Love will find a way, the vocals, lyrics, stellar. Had the LP’s back when, now the CD’s. ❤
I kid you NOT..i was thinking about this band the other day then thought I should sent Prof of Rock a message to see if he could do an update!! These guys look great after all this time. THANK YOU for doing your show on Pablo Cruise!! I was 10 in 1978...these 2 songs especially were playing everywhere where I grew up in Long Beach, Ca. My dad bought a nail barrel full of 8 tracks at a flea market in 82. I learned to play drums and guitar from those albums. It’s a wonderful memory and yes I still play today with a studio in my house.
Ocean Breeze from Pablo Cruise's debut album. With all its musical shifts, slick transitions, and change-ups, it remains one of my favorite all time rock songs. Love how it starts piano smooth, drives hard with Layla riffs, and ends with great guitar and Dave Jenkins' super smooth lyrics while breaking waves make you wish you were sailing into a tropical sunset. 🎸
Absolutely love this! @ProfessorofRock, you’re so spot on about Yacht Rock, and especially the SiriusXM abomination of a channel! One of my favorite groups, I saw them in college live during the “Part of the Game” tour, and they killed it!
So many great memories with Pablo Cruise as the soundtrack! I actually got the album when I won the top 10 albums of the week from San Francisco's AM station KFRC and have been in love with them ever since! Gotta give love to the title track too, Worlds Away is fantastic as are my air drums 3/4 of the way through!! Thanks Prof!!
I turned 14 in 1978, and loved their music. I loved Little River Band from Australia, and others. Fleetwood Mac was big, Zantana had an album along that vane with some harder but good tunes. Toto started rumbling about then and charting big soon. Whenever I call you Friend with Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks, Kiki Dee with Elton John, Donna Summer shifted a bit. Tons of good music all over the map back then.
So refreshing to find a channel like Professor of Rock. And I thought I loved music!!! I too associate different songs with my childhood and term years and all the emotions of that time. As an adult I carry all of that with me every day ❤❤❤
Pablo Cruise were a favorite each summer they played at the Del Mar Fair. Really into them and to see them live in '79, '80, '81, and '83 were fun times.
Keep doing what you do Professor ! We all greatly appreciate it ….. the interviews , the information, the memories… you take us back to the best musical days of our lives 👍🏾😊

One of my all time favorite groups. Right time, right place.
Back in high school, late 70s, a bunch of us from the cross-country team were waiting on a friend/teammate to pick us up to go for a training run at the Indiana State Dunes. He drove up and had this song blaring with the windows down. For some reason a fun memory that was fixed in my mind . Thanks for the memory!!
Sadly they're one of those bands you forget about until you hear their name. I agree with you about Don't Wanna Live Without It!! I had forgotten about it until you mentioned it!! I also liked Cool Kind Of Love!! It's nice to talk about someone like these guys!! Have an amazing day!! Cindy S.
THanks Cindy!
When ever friends start talking concerts...like "your favorite"... or "your first"...a very happy answer from me is telling them Pablo Cruise was my first real concert.. Medford Oregon. Great time too...
PABLO CRUISE!!! I love the band, and Worlds Away is an amazing album, alrhough A Place in the Sun is my favorite song.
That is a great tune.👍
@Code.Name.V This band paid their dues. They came to Winston Salem and played Rittenhouse Square. Basically a huge pool hall with a stage. Cover charge to see this band, $5. Those were the days. When Disco hit, they took out all but a few pool tables and enlarged the stage. Changed the name to Casablanca. They played this thing called music. Used musical instruments and their own unaugmented voices. Imagine that, real live talent.
☕️☕️🎶🎵🎶
I love Pablo Cruise. What a great band. I still listen to them. Many great memories.
I laughed out loud at Will wearing the Pablo Cruise shirt; not one other person in the theater thought it was funny.
Same!
SAME!!!
I don’t know how many times I played that single back in ‘77.
Very cool!
Aw man, I have been WAITING for a Pablo Cruise episode! Love these guys! Thanks, Prof, for spotlighting this somewhat forgotten treasures!
You know it!
Oh my gosh..my teenage self having crushes on musicians, singing their songs and waiting for the next ones to come out. The 70s were the best!
I still have the album and was my 1st concert.
Thank you
Awesome! What year?
One of the great underrated bands of the 70s. Have their greatest hits CD and it’s still immensely listenable.
Awesome!
Pablo Cruise "Love Will Find A Way" was my very 1st record I bought with my own money!!! I will never forget that!
Haven't heard Pablo Cruise in ages, but hearing their music again reminded me how much I really liked listening to these songs.
Thanks for the great interview!
The Album Worlds Away is EXCELLENT…. They still sound great playing live !!!! perfect vocals, perfect guitar parts, the recordings are perfect…. Their music on a great sound system is a wonderful sonic experience…. Thanks for taking the time to show them the love and appreciation they deserve
I learn so much from your videos even at sixty years old you can never stop learning. I have a whole new playlist just from watching your RUclips video keep up the good work. Thanks
That is awesome!
They played my high school. They were great. Their Ocean Breeze is really a fantastic piece.
NICE!! Forgot all about these guys. Only know the 2 songs. Thanks Adam! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
PEace!
These guys are great. They call it yacht rock and I love it all.
Thanks for this PoR!!
I want to apologize profusely to Pablo Cruise for me thinking all these decades that, "Whatcha Gonna Do" was the Doobie Brothers. 😞
No problem!
It has such a similar sound.
You're not the only one!
I thought for years Love is Alive ( Gary Wright) was the Doobie Bros. I respected the Doobie Bros because of their versatility but I thought they were just okay. Except for Long Train Running, I still love that song.
LMAO, me too!!! 😂
What a great message. I watched the video and what a blast from the past! I love your show dude keep on rockin' 🎸
We used to buy K-tel cassettes, I remember there was one or two Pablo Cruise songs on them. That’s how I knew the band. Forgot all about them until now!
Awesome!
Ah yes! K-Tel! I used to buy those albums at the drugstore!😅
When I was in Middle school our cafeteria had a jukebox with love will find away I still listen to on my running playlist awesome song👍🏻
I LOVED this episode! Well done!
Thanks for watching!
One of my favorites from the late 70's! Every time I hear a Pablo Cruise song it takes me back to those great times! Awesome interview! Thanks for sharing Professor! And thanks for keeping the music alive!👍
The signature "Yacht Rock" song in my opinion is Christopher Cross' "Sailing." But Ambrosia, Michael McDonald and Dan Fogelberg are all up there too.
Have you watched the web series? MacDonald and Cross are key characters who move plots.
So true
I played the heck outta this 45 and then bought the album. There is so much going on in this song you can definitely put a lot of time and love into making it great. I have to see them on tour if they play close enough, there's talent throughout this band. Great interview and episode, another case of the band being impressed with your in-depth knowledge!
I remember liking their second album too. Underrated albums
Agreed!
@@ProfessorofRock Thanks :)
Yup. Awesome group and awesome music! Takes ya right back! I miss the 1970’s, my mom whom I just not long ago who was my greatest advocate and someone I was so close to, and it is a hurt that can NEVER heal or go away. 🥺😞😭 Lots of pleasant memories attached to this awesome music! Nice guys too! I enjoyed this! Cheers! 👍🏻😋
"I like Pablo Cruise; don't misunderstand me. But are you going to go out and buy a Pablo Cruise lunchbox?"
_Gene Simmons_
Depends on if it shows them naked or not
I remember Gene saying that in a Guitar Player interview in 1979.
The Pablo Cruise symbol is iconic. I'd take it over Kiss on a lunch box!
Yes but yet “Love will find a way” doesn’t make me gag like “Lick it up” does 😂😂😂 Seriously “Worlds Away” was one of my first albums and I still love it today. Thanks Professor for talking about them!! 👍🏼
@@redfacejoe7129 😂
Thanks POR, for bringing Pablo Cruise back to my mind. I rarely hear them on the radio, and that's a shame.
Awesome!
Listen to them all the time on Sirius XM!!
Cool!
I loved Christopher Cross, back in the day! Great episode. Glad for the Yacht Rick revival to bring us back to this gem of a band and style.
I always loved their music and thought they sounded special and different.
I got my first taste of music listening to my older siblings' 70s music - Jimmy Buffett, Pink Floyd, Foreigner, Steve Miller and Pablo Cruise. Have listened to and loved their music for awhile now. 😊
Thanks for sharing! Great stuff! Have a great Tuesday Christine!
What great taste they had
Love this band! I remember hearing this song on a Ktel record, High Energy and falling in love with that sound. Excellent work as always Professor!
Or Tom Cruise. 😊
@@xxlilly_playsxxkiz9980, that is true! I hate the "Mission : Impossible" movies, mainly because I like the original TV series.
My local station was called Mellow Rock 96. And i was glued to it in the late 70s.
Thanks for sharing!
My father absolutely loved Pablo Cruise's cover of "I Go to Rio". Because of that, "Worlds Away" was played a lot in my house. In fact I still listen to the album today. An excellent album that has definitely stood the test of time.
these guys were quintessential 70s AM pop radio
Now known as Yacht Rock!
@@ProfessorofRockit sure sounds better than “oldies”
Oh the memories…. Some songs bring the days of your youth back in such a tangible way it makes you sad and happy in equal measure! Love…❤
Yeah they, along with other bands at that time, kind of filled that position between disco and rock...
Greetings fellow melomaniacs! Enjoy the episode!
Hey, Code! And y'all.
@@Whisper_292Woo Hoo! Whisper has entered the comments!

@@Whisper_292 Heya Whisper
@@Code.Name.V You're always so enthusiastic!
Whatever happened to her? Where is she now?
That’s a rare height for girls!
Damn.
@@xxlilly_playsxxkiz9980 Hey Silly Lilly 😜 she was part Nephelim !
Amen!
It's the frigging Catalina wine mixer!!! 😂😂😂
Ha ha!
Hey Professor! Another great segment.😊 GREAT MUSIC is TIMELESS and will find its way into the hearts of new generations of music lovers forever!!!😮❤
All of a sudden Chuck Mangione comes to mind.
Feels So Good!
So many great memories, and this band was very loved.
I'd forgotten about Pablo Cruise. I always loved their harmonies. It all came back when I heard the first song in the video.
I always thought Pablo Cruise was Tom's Mexican half-brother.
😂
Nice!
Hahaha! But Tom Cruise wasn’t widely known until 1981.
Absolutely love this! @ProfessorofRock, you’re so spot on about Yacht Rock, and especially the SiriusXM abomination of a channel! One of my favorite groups, I saw them in college live during the “Part of the Game” tour, and they killed it!
Not familiar with this one at all so a day of learning. 😁
It's a timeless classic with great harmonies.
Same
Y'all r in for a treat.
. . . one of my absolute favorites of theirs . . . I Want You Tonight . . . have the vinyl album. Loved this interview, thank you❤👍
I am glad your are obsessed with the Music and how it was created. The stories from the artist give it new life.
I agree! Thanks for watching!
Pablo Cruise is a great band! Thanks!!!
Love Pablo Cruise! Jenkin’s voice. I loved that he was lead vocals and lead guitar!
So refreshing to find a channel like Professor of Rock. And I thought I loved music!!! I too associate different songs with my childhood and term years and all the emotions of that time. As an adult I carry all of that with me every day ❤❤❤
I have always loved this band. Especially “Cool Kinda Love”…so good! 😎🌴🍍🛳
Love COOL LOVE!
"A Place in the Sun" is my favorite. I love this band!!
Some of my earliest childhood memories of the 70's were hearing Whacha Gonna Do and Love Will Find A Way on the radio whenever my mom took me to the store.
Great songs! and memories!
