Very nice! I have a red '82 SA1000 LEFTY (!) It's all original (pickups, pots, etc.) and it is my #1 humbucker guitar. I was so lucky to find it (in Japan online; had it shipped back to the states), and I'll play it till I can't play any longer. These are incredible quality MIJ guitars!
I have a 79/80 deep red SA1200S (Japanese made) that is old, beaten up but boy I love it! I don't know much about the pickups etc but it is definitely vintage and fantastic to play! Mine doesn't say 'Super Axe' on the headstock though, mine just has a small circle Yamaha logo on the headstock.
Beautiful guitar. I have a burgundy 1983 Sa1200s. It's built incredibly well.
I love the tone you have from it.

Nice review and playing. Really only 800 were made? I have a red one from the mid eighties , made in Taiwan. I can't imagine they made so few.
