I bought a SA700 several months ago. Realised it was the only guitar I ever needed. Fabulous guitar. Got Monty’s pickups and wiring in it. Sold all my SGs and Les Pauls. Bought a Flynn 5e3 Tweed Deluxe. Took me 40yrs to realise this is all you need....
Ah very nice! I moved to japan a number of years ago and have seen a lot of these here. The Gibson es-335s are outrageously priced here. These Yamaha honestly smoke them for less than half the price used. You got me wanting to get me one myself! Thanks and great playing!
Thanks for the demo! I just got an SA1100 and wanted to hear what others are doing on this instrument, I never knew about these but it has been such a delight!
I had a SA2000s 1982 model with the Spruce top which was the top of line at the time........it was a seriously wonderful guitar which I stupidly sold after convincing myself that I was only comfortable with 59 style chunky necks .I have played at least 20 different Gibson 335 since then and never been able to better the Yamaha .In fact one expensive '63 Reissue Custom shop Gibson was truly great and possibly as good as the Yam but none of the others came close . That says a lot about the Yamaha !
I bought a 83 SA800 in wineburst (I think) about a month ago and to my surprise it has a pair of Seymour Duncan Silverbirds(from the 80's) pups installed with coil splitting. The action on this is super low! Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Beautiful sounding guitar. I tried a blonde version many years ago and fell in love with the neck - it felt as if it was playing itself! Sadly, I couldn't afford it at the time. Watching this I realise why I can't do hybrid picking - my right thumb is too straight :-)
A MIJ guitar matching or bettering the build quality of a Gibson? Who’d have thunk it? Gibson and Fender really don’t have anything to worry about. Their heritage is assured. Equally, the likes of Yamaha, Tokai, Burny et al no longer have anything to prove in terms of building guitars. MIA and MIJ are both seen as marks of (potentially) great quality. A lovely thing Phil. Thanks for letting us hear a little of what it can do.
if the build quality is there-just add Phil & you`ve one hell of a combination (any chance of that `Learn to play the Phil Walker way` download -Phil)?
@@enlightenedchristian3183 The ones made in Taiwan were of comparable high quality!!! I have a 1982 sa1200s made in Japan but from everything I've been able to find out the ones made in Taiwan are as good. I do own an acoustic made in Taiwan and it's superb!!!
Hollow body super axe? I wonder if Rolls Royce has a model named Death Blaster :-) Nice guitar though. Yamaha may not have been great in naming them, but they knew how to make them.

I bought one some 20 odd years ago at a pawn shop for, get this, $120. I still have it and play it almost daily.

Fantastic!! Great find 👍
Another great video..thank you for sharing!
Man you could make a wire fence sound amazing, great playing. I have a beautiful cherry red SA2000 but doesn’t sound like that when I play.🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️

Can anyone tell me the difference between the SA1000 and the SA 2000 (other than about 1K in price).
yep great guitar. They can be obtained at good prices still.. good demo
Apparently Yamaha lose money on everyone of these that they make because it's such a high quality guitar. I have the SA2200 and can testify to this!
Are the SA 2100 Aand SA2000 made in Japan?

@@kevindean1327 I wouldn't doubt it for a second.
Sounds fantastic. What amp are you using? Cheers
The Mechanic
Thank you very much.
I’m actually using the Line6 Helix going direct. I think it was an AC15 model.
Cheers

👍
Is that a rosewood or ebony fingerboard?
Like a Kite
Hi, it’s an ebony fingerboard.
Thought it looked nice and dark. I've got a 1991 Gibson 335 studio and they came with an ebony board.....but no f holes
Like a Kite
Sounds like a nice guitar 👍
