Your ability to get the power down earlier by short shifting at turn 3 and therefore get away from Kreaser is what won you this race. Great driving throughout!
So, I'm a complete noob who doesn't know jack about racing or cars and I've just started getting into Super GT's videos. How exactly does short shifting work? I did a quick google search and got the basic concept of it, but I still don't understand how it provides greater acceleration when compared to normal (optimal?) shifting. Any explanation would be awesome!
@@jonj1220 maybe not exactly better acceleration, but a more stable car with less chances of wheelspin. this is not the easiest corner in terms of stability (if what he really meant was turn 2)
i noticed that bc i drive that way but always over rev, gonna try shifting faster like he’s done here

Tip for low level lobbies: You can't get punted into turn one if you qualify last *Points to head*
funny thing is when i started i used this tactic so much. i do this all the time in shitty f1 lobbies too lmao

Punts are only half of the problem.
The other half is: I'm an idiot. I may well be so interested in the turn 1 carnage that I forget to steer clear of it. I wouldn't be one of the punters - I know how brakes work in theory - but im not gonna be coming 4th, either 😅
Whenever my gf asks me why I laugh during racing videos: 19:37 is a good example of why I disturb the hum of the engines with my shrieks

What a race. Your list of lap times is a thing of beauty - it took 12 laps for you to make any kind of a mistake, and even then it was a minor one. All the practice is clearly paying off.
If more MP races were this competitive without all the bullshittery, I could get into it more. My experiences are there is always 1-2 people in the lobby that exist purely to make everyone else's race as miserable as possible, essentially killing the desire to keep "grinding up your driver rating". The whole point of playing games is to have fun. Getting constantly torpedoed and spun out or having to constantly play dodgeball with idiots is hardly fun and just makes me want to play something else.
Problem is you have to slog through the lower level lobbies to get to where super gt is, im by no means any good at this game even though i have a D drive rating my sr is at A and im matching with AA and AS players and ive only done about 30 online races

I have been on an absolute binge on your channel since I started playing a bit of gt sport back in February this year, especially since the F1 season is on hold for current world events. Your tips, driving style, and commentary really keep me hooked and informed. Im still always thinking about the move you put on someone at Interlagos (recently I think ) in the AMG at turn one. Just great stuff man I love your content.

Signed up with Aston Martin for this season and the V12 was really good as I qualified 1st and finished 1st in my first race and second race started 9th and finished 3rd. The 1st in the 1st race was also my 1st win in FIA races. 👍👍👍👍👍
Alan McG I signed up with Nissan and I’m learning how to use Tracyion control At 1 when I used to use 3. I have unlocked a new level of rage
IMO, renault is the best choice since their Group 3 car is superb around the corners

That race was mega intense. Your racecraft always impresses me. You dont put in the time others do, but you make up for it with your natural racing ability!
i think the slip stream qualifiying problem should be an easy fix, either 100% ghost everyone OR just put people alone in qualifying !!

Solid drive mate! Went for Mercedes myself, on course to finish 4th on a relatively high level lobby but get punted off the track and end-up finishing 8th.

I started this race in 6th in the Aston Martin. Got sent so then I was in last place. Fought my way back and got 4th. I really enjoyed that one.
It's like this. To good racers, you become better when someone is pressuring you, just like you run faster when a big dog is chasing you 😁
Fun fact: T2 is T2 only because they race motorcycles here and at that point the shallow right curve becomes a traversable corner with some degree of difficulty

16:36 Going into and out of turn 2, the Atenza driver did a fantastic job. He did exactly what he was supposed to do. Concede the position without running Super off of the track or making any contact. THAT boys and girls, is how you drive in these games.

I had to laugh at the comment of a "tactful manoeuvre" i thought it was more of a "tactical" one 🤣 and still the consistency of gear changes and trajectory has in this race earned you the title of "Apex king !"

I never noticed the “marbles” on the sides of the racing line until now. Do they affect your traction if you stray from the line?
Kade Schmallenberg yes!!!! Your tires get dirty and cool off.
They function like pebbles ordinarily would on a circuit - you get lower traction while driving on them and yeah as stated it messes your tires up a bit for the next corner or two
