    Great Idea for a video! Showing people start to finish of a project and how long it takes, all the steps, and how you go through the process. And doing it in a reasonable amount of time to show people it is possible! I also love how you made your own break, we had so much trouble bending the edges of our metal for our storage boxes!

    Without talking it is even more clear, that converting a bus isn't a nice stroll but hard work. 👍🏻

    I'm working on my bus as well, I just installed my RV front door today. It'll take me another day to finish it all the screws and stuff. Another 2 weeks and I should be ready to paint the outside. Prep work is a booger. I still have to install a salvage find, it's a 70 gal diesel tank means I'll have about 105 total capacity ...and it's stainless steel. It's too rough to polish so I'll have to paint it. Trying to keep pace with you young bucks. My bus is a 2001, 3800 International. Thanks for the motivation. Love these videos they tell it like it is.

    Great video I recently purchased a 4 window bus for a family vacation from pa to South Carolina. I must say I'm in love with my short bus. I did blow my turbo climbing the mountains in Virginia on the way home ( one day set back changed it myself and drove it home ) now all I keep thinking about is what to do to it. I just removed the seats. I want to delete 2 window and I really like your video with the rub rails gone. I'm not looking to make a camper I got one of them just a family road trip bus. Anyway looking forward to your next video

    Hey! Really helpful video. Some questions: how thick is the sheet metal you are using? And what is the stuff in the spray can you're applying after the patch? And what kind of caulk did you use? And lastly, what kept you from trying to weld the holes in the roof (would you advise against it?). Woops, that was a lot of questions. Thank you!

    Really enjoyed the video. I, personally, prefer the style of your other videos where you talk and explain to us in better detail what is going on (I learn better that way). Still really loved the video. 1 question though. For the window deletes, is it only necessary to delete them from the inside and not the outside? What I mean is that you put the metal on the inside to make everything flush like a wall but the outside still has the “divot” where the window was. Are you going to fill in that divot with another piece of metal to make it flush on the outside or leave it as is?

    • @navigationnowhere
      @navigationnowhere  4 года назад

      You can do it either way. You can plate it from the outside ( kind of like a roof raise style) but, I was going for the “deleted” look where you can still see the window shape

  • @elaexplorer
    @elaexplorer 4 года назад

    Just bought a shuttle bus with a fiberglass body. I need to do some window deletes (not at that point yet, just for planning purposes) would you suggest metal inserts or creating a large fiberglass insert?

  • @timatwell3728
    @timatwell3728 4 года назад

    Wouldn't it have been easyer to left the metal long and put on the outside tuck the top under the roof panel and leave on outside of bottom that way you don't see the window separater bar look smoother like never was two windows there. Less shapeing corners ,less calking ,less work. Just my two cents worth. keep the updates coming .

    Mike! Great video!! What size edge did you create with your brake? We’re going to do this same method and we’re planning for a 1 inch lip all the way around but I wanted to check with you before we go for it!

    • @navigationnowhere

      It was one inch

    Is the sealant you use around the opening waterproofing the rivet holes, and is that sufficient for waterproofing? What gauge metal plate are you using and is it steel?

  • @Gantzz321
    @Gantzz321 4 года назад

    going to want to cover every rivet with some butyl tape. This style of rivets by their very design still has a hole through the center of them.

      Yeah, I wrote in the video. In the future the roof will get cover with a waterproof layer

    Michael, what are your thoughts on using aluminum rivets in steel? I thought that was a no-no? I am about to do undercarriage storage boxes on my bus and was planning to use steel rivets on hinges but certainly would like to use aluminum instead.

    Wouldn't it be better just to weld the flat metal sheets vs hammering away at making lips?

    • @navigationnowhere
      @navigationnowhere  3 года назад

      You can do it either way. I find most people can't weld sheet metal so this is a great DIY method.

    I seen on another video that it's worth your money when doing a bus build to buy the nuamatic rivet gun.

      Sure it. I just wanted to film it in a way that anyone could easily have the tools.

    Mike those safety glasses don't do you any good up on your hat. wouldn't want ya messing up your beautiful eyes with a piece of metal. and that goes for Luke too, while he was grinding.

    Different format(show, not tell) works well, but I don't mind listening to your explanation in your other vids. Perhaps here the tasks were self-explanatory.
