When I saw this back in '04 you thought Shaun had a prerogative that was against Devin, and in some aspects you could argue yes. But when he realized how good Devin was and what that meant, giving him a job like this was more educational and humbling to make him a better leader.. I didn't learn this till I worked my second job in the kitchen. My head chef was not only a beast at cooking but every other facet of the kitchen.. If our dish pit staff called out, he filled in and did the work 10x better and faster than they did, if the bar was short staffed, he made drinks, if a guest needed special assistance, he did it better than the matre de. . You had no excuses at the job not to perform because leadership was willing to do the jobs below their paygrade and they did them better than everyone else.. Think of the kind of leader Devin would have been if he never was humbled to clean drums to show off their beauty and show how organized and prepared his drumline was, every minute detail had to be up to par... Devin didn't get it then.. But I wasn't sure he ever really learned that...

What kind of drummer doesn't like polishing their drums? Why let somebody else do it? I don't understand this movie AND WHY IS HE ONLY POLISHING THE TOP RIM???
