Nice comparison. I use the sigma but generally use a shorter exposure with a higher iso to avoid star trails. Seriously considering getting the new Sony 11mm.
Samyang is 18mm full frame equivalent, Sigma is a 24mm equivalent. More detail on Sigma but Samyang is more wide. Low chromatic aberration on Sigma shots, sharpness is very similar in both, the coma is bigger on Sigma but it has more light gattering at F1.4 Samyang is no weather sealing and nor autofocus. Sigma wins for me.
@@imlazytcongratulations on your new a6700. Do tell us your experience with it, I'm specially curious about the video. I have the good old a6000 with Sigma 30mm. Great for photos, but meh for video. Considering to upgrade the camera for video recording.
@@AdityaLoshali1 Will got Sigma today so i'll do some video-testing ;) At the moment I'm more than happy with what I got ( and I'm playing with only one kit lens Sony 18-135 ), Gotta find some decent gimbal and then I can do decent review.
good comparison, thank you very much. help me with a suggestion to buy a wide angle lens for my sony 6400 apsc, which is not very expensive. i currently have the sigma 16mm f1.4 DC. i was looking for the samyang 24mm .F1.4 and the sigma 50mm .F1.4 DG. this last one is more expensive. thanks for your help, best regards.😊🤝
Nice video! I'm going to Greece this Sunday on a remote island (limnos), mapped out everything. I have both lenses :) Was the Sigma sharper and less noisy at f2.0 instead of the f1.4 you think?! Best!!
I have this lens ans ive only used it once. I just came to use it again and for some reason when i turn the apeture ring nothing happens. It doesnt change. The lens has fully clicked in correctly but its not changing. Any idea why? Is there any settings i can change? I already changed the setting to allow the lens. Thanks
@@jamiewolves90 So that I understand correctly, when you turn the aperture ring, does the aperture in the lens open or close, but nothing is displayed in the camera? If so, then try to set the camera to manual and leave the ISO fixed at 100 and the time at 1/200. Do you see a difference when you turn the aperture ring now?
@@jamiewolves90 Oh, it looks like something is broken inside your aperture ring. If the aperture blades is not opening or closing when you are rotated the ring, that is not normal for a manual lens.
Hey there, i am actually planning to buy the A6100 with the Sigma 16mm 1.4 Lens since my Lumix FZ 200 is just crap for Astrophotography. Is it possible to get the RAW Files from this Shoot so i can test how well the Image Processing works with that Combo? Would be very Kind
Yes of course, just write me your email address and I will send it to you. If you don’t want to write your email address here in the comments, just write me on IG. My name there is dawa1981. 😉 Btw. are you German?
Hey! IDK if you've already purchased. at least the 6100 might have updated Sony algorithms, but I don't really recommend Sony if you're mainly or entirely looking to use it for astrophotography. Hear me out: Used canon 6D is $350-$400. Get a Rokinon 24mm f1.4/20mm f1.8 and it will do great. Why not Sony? I only say this because, as you advance, IF you keep shooting astro and stick with it, then you WILL eventually get to where I am where you use a star tracker and shoot more than 30 seconds. at 45-90 seconds my canon is my choice over my a6300, A7S, and A7R II. when the Sony cameras are in bulb mode they do weird things. This is really only the older bodies though, but canon and nikon colors for astro are quite nice. Also Sony's shoot 12 bit RAW files instead of 14 bit when in bulb mode. it can show a difference when recovering shadow detail! That said, focusing at night with older DSLRs is much harder than the mirrorless systems :/

Thank you, the Sony must be also good for astro. It would be nice to see a comparison between the Sony 11mm and the Samyang 12mm.

Why are you using auto white balance tho?
Because I am shooting in raw and I can fix this in post editing. Sony cameras makes a really good job with automatic auto white balance.
