- This has top be the only place on earth you can fish to giant wild trout in a natural river setting. while the fishing on day 1 was a little tougher then previous season i think you can agree the fish is second to none, well ecept mayb e day 2.

the fish cap just killed me😂😂😂😂
Ok, how about a challenge for next year’s visit: catch one of these big buggers on a dry!
Always love your videos, man. Thanks for putting in the effort.
Cheers mate I appreciate that
The drone footage of the pod of giant rainbows is amazing
Yeah pretty cool aye
Old mate's fish hat is the strongest hat I've seen in a very long time.
Man, I love you! Genuinely the best footage 👊🏻👍🏻
I managed to snag a spot on the very last weekend, I'm leaving on Friday. It'll be my first time fishing that place and I'm super excited.
whats the name of the river if u dont mind me asking
Dude u take beautiful footage lovin it keep up the good work 👌
This river lol... "oh it's only 4kg, let's just horse em in so we can cast again!" 😂 warps reality
Definitely worth the watch! Some absolute tanks at the end 😮💨
Great footage - thanks!
Can you do a video of some of the spring time flys, nymphs you would use ? I’m in CHB area
Good 👍
Thanks
Gedday Gareth is that a 5 or 6 wt centre your using
Definately not as many really big fish and they dont fight like proper wild fish but hey, it is what it is and it's still big fish and lots of fun so good stuff:)
Must be nice catching trophy trout every cast.
It’s not a bad way to spend the day
@@TroutHuntingNZ not at all. Very few better ways to spend a day.
Heaps Chur!
Do you do any guiding? If I came down there from Canada can I pay you to take me around to a few places?
I'm trying to mentally compare these to Coho Salmon - what do you figure the big ones weighed?
The fish from the first day are quite small compared to previous years, biggist I think was 16lb maybe.
@@TroutHuntingNZ well, that's about the size of my biggest-ever Coho! Looks like a blast. I'm unusual in that I am an American, but a passionate former rugby player and All Blacks (and Wellington Hurri's ) fan, as well as a childhood fan of LOTR. Throw that in with fishing for just about anything, but especially with fly rods, and I cannot think of a single reason I shouldn't visit your country in the near future. Are you guys connected to a guiding service, or have one (or more) you recommend? Travel sites?
Usually I’m fishing for trout that are like 15 inches but the king salmon are running in the rivers by me now so I’m catching fish as big as yours!
You in Wisconsin?
@@PinchTheBarb yessir
@@PinchTheBarb still some kings in the river but most are zombies by now
@@alext.7517 nice dude. I’m in MN. Been fishing the brule lately. Few steelhead but no salmon yet!
Man NZ is just a different place, are rainbows a native species there?
Nah mate. Introduced in the 1880s.
Introduced from the McCloud river in Northern California.
@@szerintubeits amazing how those beautiful sleak bodied wild trout from the mccloud and other rivers throughout the west could end up becoming these massive but ugly, mutated pellet fed fish. Yes the size is impressive but the quality nah. A 3-5lb quality wild trout is much better than those canal fish
first view lets go
Cheers Bud
What’s the river?
Clarence.
@@banjopete cheers mate
Have a shave Mate! OMG, its time aye? poor GF
Catching all these ‘small’ fish must be really annoying…
