And he ate the shrimp from his hand! I've had cats all my life, and fostered stray/rescues, and there have been some I've worked with for months-years before they'd take food from me like that. It's a good sign of trust/feeling secure.

I bought her a new cat bed that she wouldn't use and, since I noticed her favorite place to sleep was either my hamper or my spot on in my bed (even if I'd been gone for hours and it was cold), I assumed it must be a scent thing, I sat in the cat bed for a few hours while watching TV. It worked, she started using it after that.

I love how most cat owners are at least mildly allergic to cats
My fiance and like his whole family is allergic, but one day he said "let's get a kitten" and we got a 2 kittens that day 😅 2 and a half years later, no allergies lol

I bought her a new cat bed that she wouldn't use and, since I noticed her favorite place to sleep was either my hamper or my spot on in my bed (even if I'd been gone for hours and it was cold), I assumed it must be a scent thing, I sat in the cat bed for a few hours while watching TV.
It worked, she started using it after that.

Dogs can be trained in any language so its possible for the same with cats. My dog responds to 2 different languages, english and laotian, bc i trained him so he could respond to me and my parents (who watch him for me sometimes).

Exactly! my childhood cat knew when my bus from school would arrive and he would walk me home. Not for food or anything, he would just walk and meow (my guess is he was telling me about his day) and as soon as I arrived at the door he would go back to his cat life.
