My pick: a medium gray pair of chinos. I'm in college and my gray chinos have been a workhorse for over a year. They match with any color (except more gray IMO) and I've worn them with anything from sneakers and a t-shirt to Chelsea boots and a navy blazer. I also own navy, olive and a pair of khaki jeans and blue jeans
I bought two pairs of chinos( khaki and olive green) and they completely changed my style to way better. Everyone noticed in the office. I will buy navy chino this week. I definitely recommend it
I’ve lost 100 lbs over the past 14 months. I started with 46 and now wear a 36 skinny fit! To keep my clothing budget from exploding I tried Amazon Goodthreads as I’ve sized down. They fit me well, no complaints. I can’t say how well they will hold up as I haven’t kept a pair for more than 3 months.
I wear the same brand as they are one of the few brands with really long legs. I think they last the same as most other brands. Congrats on the weight loss.
Its great to watch you because I lean on the blues and HATE the olive BUT because I am watching you, you are helping me build confidence in the olive. Maybe giving them a try. Great videos
Favorite brand of chinos are easily the RSQ brand you get from Tilly’s, specifically the skinny fit. I skateboard regularly, so they have a good amount of stretch to them, I think like 3% spandex. I typically wear them for casual outfits, but I used to work in an office setting that was business casual. For that, I always wore a nice button shirt with a tie and paired them with some cole haan oxfords that would be suede or leather. They are also more of a high rise pant, so for someone like myself who is shorter, I feel it looks better and if you have to tuck in the button shirt, you’ll look taller too. Such versatile pants.
The chinos from Target's brand Goodfellow are pretty solid and hard to beat at about $20 a pair. Plus they have tons of colors, and sizes 28X30 i believe.
If you're trying to make chinos the main staple of your wardrobe, I think Banana Republic is the way to go because they have so much variety in their dyes while keeping it thoughtful and not too flashy. Various trims and fittings as well. Can be a bit long so you might need to get them altered, but you should be doing that for most of your pants anyway.
Honestly, I only have one pair and it's a navy blue pair I got from Old Navy for 15 bucks. They fit great, look great, and honestly the quality is pretty nice. Nothing premium for sure, but for a cheap starter pair (I've had mine since January) they work great.
Uniqlo and Club Monaco fit me perfectly. I have all the colours from Uniqlo, probably like 7 pairs and two from CM. I get compliments all the time in my Uniqlos.
Nice video. My favorite is Banana Republic rapid movement Chinos. They fit me perfectly. I particularly like the inner fly button behind the zipper. Helps give that perfect fit without relying necessarily on a belt. However I usually do wear one.
@@BrockMcGoff The Travelers are pretty sweet to. They're pretty stretchy and roomy for a slim cut. I almost feel guilty when I wear them. They feel as comfortable as pajamas... 😉😉😉
I bought a pair of grey chinos from Target. My first pair. Really surprised with the fit and how comfortable they look. I will look to get a pair from a higher end store soon and in a different color! Thanks for the vid and info as always!
Thank you, Brock, for another informative video. As a chino wearer approximately five days a week, your video provided some great tips, especially for the shorter guy as myself (I, too, am 5'6"). Continue your great work. Peace.
Luigi Borrelli, because they come in all shades, have Italian flair and a ton of hand work. Also, their fit is sublime, fairly slim, but plenty of room to move. Also the hand sewn, skirted waist band they do is the most comfortable I've ever worn! I also love the stretch chinos by Brunello Cucinelli. Great fit and style.
I have been wearing Lands End chinos for a very long time. I like their long rise pleated. I wear them cuffed. Kaki, white or stone and navy are my choices.
great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.I wear BR Aiden Slim Fit mostly but recently discovered Dockers Smartflex Chinos which i think fit better and are nicely tapered at the bottom unlike BR aiden.I find BR hard to cuff for that exact same reason.
Found a couple fum Vulcom, I love them. They rit really nice and compliment my tall, slim figure. They are called the modified straight. I choose two pairs kaaki and navy for day and night in modified straight which is pretty much in between slim somehow.
Wow! Thanks for this video in Chinos Brock! Very helpful. Can you do a video about pairing belts and shoes? Like safe shades to pair, especially leather belts and shoes. 😀
Great video, Just ordered the olive chino, from J-Crew.. Now I’m have 5 color of chinos.. I think J - Crew and banana fit great for my body.. Brock hair looks awesome...
Waqas Mehmood i have black, tan, Grey, Navy, and Blue grayish from Michael Kors, It’s very versatile it’s look great with button down and nice basic tee shirt..
Great video content!!Right now it’s GOODFELLOW from Target! Great fit, nice semi-velvety feel, great colors and cut choices and the price. These beat out my All Saints, my Banana Republic and my Gap. I like Gap too though.
Tbh Target, at least where I live, has the best selection of chinos at very reasonable prices. It's not even worth going to other stores because they are harder to find, more expensive, and dont appears better in any way.
Great video! My go to chino's are Everlane midweight straight or J crew 770s, even being shorter, I seem to like the silhouette of a straight fit, both Everlane and the J crew 770s have a generous rise. Cheers
Quite a long time ago had a pair of Banana Republic and Dockers chinos which were perfect for me. Right now got a pair of chinos from Amazon they are not as narrow near the ankles as I would like, will check Uniqlo's soon
I'm first watching this thinking, this ain't the style og or fashion over 40 guy, but I was pleasantly surprised with how informative this vid was, even some history on the chino, good vid thx.
Nice video Brock. I think your hair is looking great on you. I am currently growing mine out too and in month 4 I think. Nowhere near this length yet and in the awkward stage.
Even though I’m female, I wear pretty much just chinos! I can actually fit stuff in my pockets and I feel great wearing them no matter the occasion! ❤️ Gap and Uniqlo are my favourites as they always fit me right from the rack and guys, please wear more chinos! I just love it when guys wear them! ☺️😍
I just began wearing Chinos....always been a jeans guy. .bought from j crew 2 pairs..Grey n navy blue... Quick question Where to obtain for taller men???...I'm 6"5...
I like chinos except for the slash pockets, which always seems to puff out no matter how well the pants fit in general. I'll always opt for a chino-style pant with jeans-style pockets.
One thing too don’t go too skinny with them since they are a more lightweight material than jeans it’ll show a lot more creases and a few more of your body than you’ll like go for a slim or straight or even skinny but make sure it’s not too tight
Great video will be passing video to my husband. We're planning on trying out Duer and their chinos. Also your hair looks amazing, loving the length a lot
Express (when on sale which is common) is a good place for chinos as well. It’d be cool to see your opinion on them for the essential types of clothing like t-shirts and pants/shorts
I think chinos work well only in lighter colours like: khaki, tan, beige, off-white, light to medium browns, light to medium olive, light-stone-grey and light blue. The navy, medium to dark greys, black, dark blue and other very dark colours do not look good on chinos because dark colour means more formal/dressy and chinos are not. This is where dress formal wool trousers win, particularly in navy and medium-to-dark greys. Interesting that dark colours like black and dark indigo blue look much better on jeans than they do on chinos (provided there is no or minimum distressing/fade on jeans).
Levi's XX Chinos both my Pink and dark gray color. Very comfortable. Had to get them tailored but I love the fit and comfort! Make sure to buy the high quality versions. Also, Dickies slim fit chinos.
Upvoted for educating people on the difference between "chino" and "khaki." And also on the existence of Ethan Wong. And for getting Bonobos' ridiculous price range right (although J. Crew's is just as absurd). Also -- you don't like gray chinos?
I can say chinos are the best, so easy to pair with. And here in Philippines where "Ukay-ukay" is a thing, you can get branded chinos like Uniqlo, Zara, Old Navy..... for just 50pesos (1USDollar). I have 5 chinos, all from ukay ukay.
Target has a great chinos, I currently have an olive pair of Goodfellow's and (believe it or not) Vans also has great slim fit chinos. I have a dark gray pair and I wear them more than jeans (they're all available in 28in waist, which is what I wear)
Hi Brock! Great video! What about good high rise chinos? Im really struggling to find some good chinos that are high waisted, since my torso is longer than my legs, and even medium rise pants looks weird on me. Any brands or suggestions? Thanks!
Big fan Brock, though definitely not your target audience at 6’3 and 255. The PMNYC leather jacket looks great, but their 4xl is a size too small - any similar jackets you know of to accommodate bigger guys? Or maybe pull some strings and get a 5xl on the go haha! Thanks for all the content.
Appreciate the way you edited the summary up on screen for breaking down the sections of the fit advice! I just bought some grey chinos to switch up from khaki but still contrast with blue and am hoping it works out (for UK peeps, I'd recommend Next and M&S)
Bought some chinos in 2013 from ASOS uk... olive green pair and a beige or khaki colour pair... best fit i could ever ask for, when they got faded i couldnt find that same fit online so switched to Levi's jeans for casual and trousers from TM lewin for work (dress pants)... Oh and i bought a khaki colour chino from Uniqlo this year, slim fit; sturdy material but doesnt hug the leg in a stylish manner, not what i had hoped for... quite disappointing. Im 5'7, 30 or 31" waist

Most of my pants are chinos. I'm surprised how my friends give me compliments when I'm only changing my top and shoes whenever I want to dress up. Chinos are indeed versatile.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good video plus information. When it comes to Chinos I have a little difficulty due to having a big bubble butt, therefore, every time I buy a pair I get a much larger size then I have to have them tailored, other than that I like them.
Hey Brock! Do you think the Peter Manning NYC chinos run long or short for the size? I've always worn a 30" length, but in the past couple years, "30"" pants seem to be longer than they used to. I'm wondering if I should order the PMNYC in 30 or go down to 29. Thanks.
I like the slim fit chinos at Express, I normally don’t shop there because I feel it’s overpriced but their Large fits me like a glove. How do you make that neat kuff Brock?
Chinos are the perfect middle ground between jeans and dress pants, and they’re essential in an interchangeable wardrobe

Thank you for watching!
@Chris Powell I hear you. Those old video guides need to be updated, like this one.
Why? Just follow those rules
Those target Goodfellow & Co chinos are amazingly well made for the price and the fit is on point. The right amount of material and the right texture.
Such a great video. Highly informative, practical, and with great photo examples of how to dress chinos up or down. Thanks, Brock!
The chinos from Target's brand Goodfellow are pretty solid and hard to beat at about $20 a pair. Plus they have tons of colors, and sizes 28X30 i believe.
I've had a pair of olive Arizona slim fit chinos for a couple years and they're definitely my favorite pants in my closet
An informed and sincere video on my favorite pant option. Thanks!
Yo! Two of my favorite youtubers in one place!
I picked up a pair of chinos from Ministry of Supply recently - they look great, and they have this super-comfy 4-way stretch on them.
