  • Good faceplates are hard to come by for the Nintendo Game Boy Micro. And this one is almost perfect, just have to get used to it! Maybe for display purposes only.

@Madlittlepixel Great vid brethren. You might be able to gently sand down the back of the face plate. Only the D-pad and a,b button areas just a little to give you a better feel. I'd imagine it wouldn't take much time or effort.

I wouldn't be surprised. They came out after the Nintendo DS and was overshadowed by the Nintendo DS. Not sure why Nintendo made a new Game Boy Advance model after making the Nintendo DS and it costed more than the Game Boy Advance SP model.
I knew it was a more slim version of the GBA but I didn't know it was THIS tiny!

Unfortunately Iwas a senior in high school when this thing originally came out other wise I would have purchased one and all the faceplates I could handle. Sadly no money at the time lol. I have a Micro and I did get one of those $10 faceplates and they are terrible. everytime I press on the buttons the plastic of the faceplate also makes a clicky noise.

Alrighty, the faceplate came in the mail yesterday and I spent the day playing on it and the original faceplate, and I gotta agree with Ron here its usable, but there are tiny quality of life issues that could probable be corrected if willing. The biggest issue(still not really an "issue") would be that the extra mm of thickness of the causes the top of the a button to catch on the top of the faceplate, however the gameboy micro DOES NOT register it as a button press. And the last minor issue I have is its kinda easy to pop off by grabbing the top and bottom side of the faceplate. All in all, I like the one you sent me, even with the minor issues I think this is a step in the right direction of a decent quality replacement faceplate (high quality appearance-wise). I think I'm gonna buy the LoZ mahogany one. THANKS SOOOOO MUCH Ron. I highly appreciate it 🙏.

    • @Madlittlepixel

Awesome! One thing id like to point out is it can be a little finicky to get these to stay fixed on properly. Like you have to get it latched then put pressure on each of the left corners and shift it around until both spots do not move.

You forgot to mention that those repair box ones are not only blurry with plastic imperfections, but the damn window doesn't even line up with the screen! I'm so frustrated because the faceplate on my micro was damaged, and there is simply no aftermarket option I can find that isn't complete garbage. Shame this one is overly thick.
